Oh, my goodness! It makes me so sad to learn of their deaths. Gorillas are magnificient and beautiful beings. Looks like it was perhaps a bad decision to do this.
@@sandymesser1550 it's very sad, but it's absolutely not a bad idea. They have released 60 gorillas in total since the late 90's. More than 30 offspring have been born. They all lived except for this sad situation. They also released 27 rhinos in Tanzania, all alive for years now. Sad things happen to wild animal families too. So it's a succes!
@@Kim_gs1206 I totally agree with you. In my opinion this is the best and only route for them(rehabilitation) instead of being locked up for people's amusement.
I found out that the baby and most of the females were killed therefore the experiment was a big mistake. You shouldn't release gorillas that have only known a certain life willy nilly into the wild. They are not better off dead. You might be successful introducing a young silver back to see what happened, but have it monitored. This was a complete disaster and I hope next time they think of the animals safety and not their own ideology.
Definitely not a big mistake, a set back? . Unfortunately we learn a lot from mistakes, whether they’re minors or major. This still beats zoo captivity. The bottom line is that zoos are prisons and what’s worse is that the animals have no idea why they’re being prisoned contrary to a human who knows why they’re locked up, whether guilty or not.
@@GAT-pr6dt I agree that it's better if they are wild but once they are used to captivity, I still don't think it's safe to release a whole family into the wild without any knowledge or resources in how to live. Of course the females and babies were killed off pretty quickly. This isn't rocket science.
I know! Did they prepare them? I can’t believe they would do this if they were born at a zoo. Wtf! But I am surprised that a gorilla killed their whole family like the wives and stuff. I would’ve thought that he would’ve tried to take over, so is the silverback still alive. Honestly this just broke my heart. Wish they could have stayed in the jungle to begin with or whatever. But I am sorry if they were born I raised ina zoo, why would they release them. ?
It’s terrible that in the first month that baby and his wives were killed . Very unfortunate situation but I still prefer this method over zoo’s. At least the Aspinal foundation is working on a solution to free these animals. What’s the point of breeding these animals outside of their native land and deprive them of rehabilitation ? Here’s the latest update on Djala that I found: blog.aspinallfoundation.org/djala-djongo-looking-great-in-gabon
I love watching a mamma gorilla patting her baby on the back while she's holding her baby....but I'm kind of worried for these gorillas going into the wild they have to be raised to know what to eat how to be if other gorillas come across their nests....I dont think this is good
@The Magic Twister so if they can’t fight then just teach them how to shoot a gun so they don’t have to fight. Have you seen the video of the monkey shooting the AK47? If a monkey can do it than a gorilla sure can
Yes but they will not be able to say the same thing now because they have been successful in taking them there and they have done the same thing with many more now. Good on you Damien Aspinall
This is old, but clearly if many of them were found dead, this was a really bad call. I wonder why a so-called expert would make a decision to do this. Senseless tragedies and lives loss if reports here are true... smh.
Unfortunately the danger proved to be very real. Four females and an infant were killed in the first month and the siverback was badly wounded. Damien Aspinall suspects it was a rogue wild siverback who had been spotted on the other bank of the river. The gorillas all suffered massive blunt force trauma which realistically could only have been caused by an amazingly powerful silverback. Such a tragedy as that man truly loves those gorillas.

The baby walking over the bridge on two legs, haha! So precious! Such amazing animals.
"Releasing them back is a bad idea" taking them from the home was even worse
unless they are endangered , then it might be good to save them..
@@farerseI think the animal would rather die in the wild than to be held captive in a zoo for human entertainment tbh
How!?
@@Dre1_ Tbh not really loads of them breed them and then let them go not all of them but some of zoos let the animals go
@@animallover6830 then put them in a sanctuary... sanctuaries are 100x better than zoos
The Silverback perches himself ready to protect.
Unfortunately that baby along with the 5 wives were all found dead a month later.
OmG really? 😱

how about the Silverback? Is he still alive? I think his name was Ebeki
I can't help but think of American Colonist when I watch this. Its why I believe some Native tribes took them in, they felt sorry for them.

i think they should teach animals how to hunt and survive
Their babies will be the future not them. Or they will be food to other animals
Their babies were killed a few weeks after they released them k believe most of them died horribly
I agree that many zoo animals should be released back into the wild, unless they are endangered.
We did not come from apes.
Release all animals back to the wild! Born in captivity or otherwise! 🙄

The females ran first because they want new meat. Not taking about food. 😂😂
