If you do not mind me asking, how do you get the footage from the episodes to use it on these awesome videos :)? I am interested in doing something like this for other anime series I am into.
It's truly inspiring to see an adult MC that has gone through so much and lost so much, yet never lost his kindness. A man that saw the pits of hell and failed, but never gave up. A man who saved ppl and was saved by the ppl he met, the man that taught me to never close my eyes to the darkness because I won't be able to see the dawn of a new day. This video was beautiful.
Pretty much and you can see his evolution technically from the first manga cover to the last manga cover. In Volume 1, it’s just Gintoki but with the final volume, Gintoki is surrounded by the whole cast, his friends, and who he considers family. Nice touch 👌
Your right, gintoki always stays mysterious.. we never know his parents or does he have a name to begin with like what if shoyo give the name sakata gintoki to him? The gorilla really give that so he can expand the series if the fans miss it lmao
I just want to say that, Takasugi does not blame Gintoki for killing their master, Takasugi actually blames himself because he is too weak that he cannot protect Shouyou, and he makes Gintoki carry the burden (cutting Shouyou's head). Takasugi hates himself, he wants to destroy himself. However, instead of killing himself which is not enough, destroying everything around him makes Takasugi suffer even more. He hates the world that takes his master away.
Hoang Nhi That is true but I am talking about from the perspective of Gintoki since this video is revolving around his story. If we were discussing Takasugi’s Backstory then yes, I would have elaborated on that if we discussing the situations through his perspective.
@@poloy7051 i disagree. During their fight in episode 304 & 305, Gintoki said that if Takasuki had been in Gintoki’s position, Takasugi would have sacrificed Shouyou-sensei just like what Gintoki did. Takasugi fully understands Gintoki’s decision, they both want to fulfill Shouyou’ wish. However, Takasugi cannot bear the fact that he and his comrades are too weak to save their most beloved one. Therefore, to punish himself, to make himself suffer more than dying, he decided to kill Gintoki, who most embodies Shoyou’s teaching, instead of conducting suicide. Takasugi is a very complex character, I don’t understand 100% of him.
The thing that makes Gintama's plot amazing, once you find out that it actually exists, is the fact that it's totally chained with its protagonist's past. Gintoki's story doesn't only tell you who he is, but also put the bases for the whole plot and setting. It's also curious that his experiences are rarely narrated from his POV, but most from the others' - one of the main villains' perspective, nevertheless. This helps mantaining an enigmatic aura about him, since you never experience to know his true thoughts, and to be magnetically fascinated by him
Agree. We never hear any of Gin-san's thoughts (well the serious ones). But from what we have seen about him, all of those comedic and serious episodes, made us believe in him, admire him, understand him, even though we can't fully see the world from his prespective. I feel like I'm part of the Yorozuya, just like Shinpachi and Kagura.
@@Nofian-s1g 1000% on this statement. Sorachi has a beautiful way of writing his characters and despite their wackiness really make you empathize with them.
and since we dont know whats his perspective about the world and his thoughts about his past life, it almost feels like he's a real person, cuz u dont really know people's thoughts on their life as well
The story of a man who had lost everything, who hit rock bottom and stayed that way for 10 years, who found salvation by rediscovering the very things that he had lost.
Mairuzukage true. Also loved the analysis. I always think of shoyou not just being a sensei but a father to gin. We need to see the past. Well I do, it’d make a good OVA series. Like the kenshin trust and betrayal ones. It doesn’t have to be as serious as those Id prefer to see the silly things too like when gin trained with shoyou and he told him he was a giant and shoyou was like “actually I’m a hanshin fan” lol he thought he was talking about baseball
One thing I love is that we pretty much always learn Gintoki's backstory through other characters. It's a consistent theme that Gintoki hates thinking back to the past - something both he admits to and other characters (like Sakamoto and Katsura) allude to. So when we get his backstory, it's Otose remembering when they met, Sakamoto asking him to go to space with him, Katsura recalling their fight together on the battlefield. We don't actually learn what happened to Shoyo through Gintoki either - that whole flashback is a Takasugi origin story. How he met Shoyo, befriended Gintoki and Katsura and then watched his master die. It really reinforces the idea that Gintoki's "goal" in the series is to just keep moving forward and have a happy life. Nothing grand or complex, and the only times he lets himself get wrapped up in the past are times of true anger and consequence (Tsukuyo being held captive by Jiraira is when Gin has his own first flashback to meeting Shoyo, and Oboro appearing in CoaN is what sets off the memory of Shoyo's arrest and the school burning). If Gintoki were left alone, he would just hang out and do his best. That's the whole thing with all the comedy slice of life; Gintoki has already achieved what Shoyo wanted for him by the time he's met up with Kagura and Shinpachi.
Completely agree with this statement. Couldn't have said it better myself. That's one of the main things i loved about this series. Just look at Gintama volume 1 and look at Gintoki, alone...then look at the last volume of the Gintama manga and see all of the other characters with him in the background along with him smiling. Very nice touch Sorachi-sensei.
Yes, i think that the gorilla sensei managed Gintoki's past in a very great way, he threw little pieces of his past from the beginning, but not focusing into his past, doing something that way gives more mystery and relevance to the character, anime's that throw all of their ideas from the beginning tend to be boring or just irrelevant, but anime's like Gintama or One Piece make it all feel like doing some kind of puzzle in your journey watching them, there's not many series like that, but aswell some anime like Naruto and Snk manages their protagonists past in a great way too (but Naruto's flame dies while watching it lol) we know almost everything of their past from the beginning, sorry for extending too much or any grammar mistake, have a great day/night
@@derkar6449 ia agree with u...also another great point about gintama i like is that the relationship between the male protag and the female protag isn't that of a romantical or potential lovers kind of relationship which is generally very common in anime...instead in gintama the male protag and the female got a brother/sister or a father/daughrer kind of relationship which is very wholesome! . . . but there are still some creeps who ship them🤢😬
@@derkar6449 don't care about Gintama ships, especially okikagu (i've seen their fanart everywhere in Gintama fandom) like we know that Kagura is way younger than okita
Gintoki is such a well written character and how the author reveals his past by letting us viewer peicing it together one by one is just amazing. I never seen such a well written shounen plot and character as gintama
out of all the shonen anime ive seen, Gintama is definitely the best, it doesnt have exaggerated personalities, even if they do there still human-like, its actually funny, they can actually kill someone/a villain (lol), and character pasts are revealled right away. its literally perfect! (for me) Gintoki is (for me) the best shonen protagonist if not the best protagonist ever!
I definitely feel that Gintoki is probably the best shounen protagonist out there. I wouldn't say characters past are revealed right away though as we learn more about the characters past as we progress through the series. I mean, you don't know the full past of Gintoki's relationship with Shouyou until about episode 305. Anyways, i agree with the other stuff you mentioned :)
@@mairuzukage it seems i forgot to change the "are" to "arent" oops XDXD what i was trying to say is that the character's pasts in gintama ARENT revealed right away. my bad
"The country? The skies? You can have them. I'm busy just protecting what's right in front of me. I don't know what'll happen to me in the future, but if something has fallen at my feet then the least I can do is pick it up. " Sakata Gintoki
What makes Gintama so great was how they kept Gintoki's past a mystery and they only showed hints about his life. What really made him such a great character despite him lazing around most of the time yet always try to help people whenever he can.
@@mairuzukage why did he throw the sexy lady again? I don't remember her doing anything wrong he even said she's a good woman right? The mascot dude as well.
I N C O G N I TO I believe he threw her in ‘just cause’ lol. However, I’m pretty sure if you go back in the Old Yorozuya Episode after two of his members starting forming a relationship Gintoki soon found out that the beautiful woman was having a relationship with the mascot as well.
Gintama is an after-story of a failed hero, who failed at saving his teacher and friend- and he eventually finds a real family and lives on. I always love how Gintama features ordinary people and make their stories heroic.
I love how all 3 of Shouyo's students have way different thoughts when they grew up. Gintoki just tries to live, keeps going forward to the future. Shinsuke is still remained in the past, flames in his eyes never extinguished. Lastly, Katsura has never changed, he is not chained with past and he never looks for the future, still keeps doing what he did the best, fighting for a better future.
I love the fact that Gintoki is so old, so broken for a shounen protagonist. Gintama feels like the epilogue of a shounen story. What happens to your standard shounen protagonist when he fails on his quest, lost his friends, and have to live with all his failures? He doesn't dare die, because it would be against his master's wishes, but he is now aimless, feels worthless, and is lost. And so we venture into the story of how he slowly finds more and more reasons to live despite his failures. It's such a unique perspective. Re-watching the series after the big reveal is bittersweet. How much of it is Gin trying to cover up so much pain, desperate to hold onto the new happiness he found for himself. Spoiler: For example, in Shippuden, the Pain arc was my fave bec it forced Naruto to confront his idealism (although, I'm still not satisfied with the answer he came up with "i believe, so you should believe me too" In the end, he remained an idealist). I was really impressed that Naruto was willing to break the cycle of hatred even after Konoha's destruction and especially losing Kakashi. For me, Kakashi's death meant more than a lot of rando villagers dying. Even so, it would have been a lot more interesting if Pain didn't have a jutsu to revive the dead. What would Naruto have done if the dead remained dead? How was he supposed to tell the survivors that he didn't kill Pain just so he can break the cycle of hatred? How can he preach of peace when the villagers would want justice/revenge? Will he, like the White Fang, be vilified, even though he just saved the remaining residents? If so, how can he, as Pain said "how can you be so sure that life won't change you?" Anyway, long ramble. But that's exactly the trial through fire Gin had to go through. He failed in his goals and he was hated by one of his closest friends for being saved by him. By saving his friends instead of their teacher, he ends up losing all of those all the same. He still did it, because that's what his teacher wished (*winks* just like Naruto to Jiraiya). But now that there are consequences to his choices, Gin is now challenged with trying to uphold such a legacy. He can't kill himself. He has to live with himself who killed his own father figure, who betrayed & disappointed his brothers. Every living day he is being challenged with "will life change you?" And in the end, Gin still fails on his goal of protecting everything he holds dear, depending on your perspective. His master dead for the 3rd time in Gin's lifetime, all of which he witnessed or is involved in. Gin is once again, forced to kill his teacher/father figure AND his friend/brother; double whammy. I mean, gdi Sorachi-sensei, you are a sadist. They were good send-offs imo. They were cathartic to those involved, but damn. How much trauma do you have to inflict on the guy? Gin is no way an idealist. He is an optimist? Though I kinda feel that it's more of desperation. He doesn't really believe that he will win the fight. He HAS TO WIN the fight, because he has felt the loss before and he is desperate not to go back to that. He's a realist. As much as he wanted to save his teacher and his friend, he WILL kill them to save everyone else. Truly taking on the burden of pain (lol yes, I went there).
That part of “he has to win the fight” struck a chord with me. Remembering the beam saber arc, although it was half comedy, the desperation in his voice when he was trying to get up and failing while trying to save Obi was painful. It’s like he’s trying to convince himself when it just looks like we want him to lie down.
I grew up with Gintama in Japan 🇯🇵 Everything about this anime, helped me to be strong in every kind of situations and enjoy life as it is! Gintoki is my hero forever!! Gintama means a lot to me and so happy to find a video about introducing Gintoki in Eng!😭🙏❤️ I love it!!! Happy that now I can share this with my English speaker friends!! Thank you for an amazing video!!!! Fantastic job!!😍👍
Thank you for uploading this. Gintoki is truly an inspiration for his never ending will to keep going and keep surviving even when everything around him is literally crumbling. I admire his will and honour the most.
Mengu S agreed! He is a great character that represents no matter how hard of a life you may have had, do not give in to the temptation to end yourself and instead, strive forward to change for the betterment of yourself and to try to find the good in life.
In the first opening of the anime, there was a scene of him in a battlefield and he wakes up like it was a nightmare only to wake up to everyone greeting him. I thought it was weird at first but seeing it now, its a nice little addition.
Personally love Gintama, its so weird that a parody show could be so emotional i loved it and i love how its ironic, towards the end how he tells everyone to lean on each other for help. But then towards the end you can see that Gintoki isn't leaning on anyone for his burden and is carrying it all alone. He's an amazing hero and love it
I just discovered this video and I'm glad I did, the beauty of Gintama is the value of human connection and no one demonstrates this better than Gintoki. It's so heartwarming and inspiring to see a man whose mentality is very similar to a Vietnam War Vet become a father figure to Kagura and Shinpachi and help to mature them. While they are not exclusive to Yorozuya or Gintoki It's the main foundation for the series' message. The only other series I could think of that achieves something even remotely close to Gintama is March Comes In Like A Lion or Sangatsu which I highly recommend to anyone if you haven't checked it out yet.
"No place to return to..." For some reason I think Sorachi really makes a implicit critic of some postmodernist aspects of our society, even when he's japanese.Well, and old man once said "Humanity is one".
I've known about Gintama for a long time but I'm so sad that it's taken me this long to actually watch it and I've watched a lot of anime ever since I was very young but I thought the series was nothing but a confusing gag show that borrowed heavily from other series. Finally realised how wrong I was and now I fully understand the statement 'there are two types of people. One who loves Gintama and the other who has never seen Gintama.' Yorozuya forever ❤️❤️❤️
What i like about Gintoki is despite his past full of tragedies, he just keep living, helping people even strangers. The way he smiles everyday with the yorozuya, the way he keeps fighting for anyone he cares and lives like a child. For me, that's impossible to overcome those tragedies. I cried
For people who wants to watch gintama, here I list some advice - don't binge watching( 10 eps per day) just start 1 or 2 eps per day - don't watch bcz u expect smth( I'm talking about plot) - watch bcz u have free time, or u want to release some stress - watch in order( s1, s2 etc ) - have "at least" watched 50 other animes or u wont understand anything (gintama famous with their title: king of parody ), DON'T make gintama as your first anime - don't skip op and ed (trust me) - be a bit patient, and don't drop it in the middle, this type of anime will slowly develop and progress Btw I've never seen people who watch gintama from the start until the end complain about the story is boring, cliche, repetitive, plot going downward, the ending sucks etc, the people who complain basically bcz they drop in first 10 ep, that's why I said be a bit patient and u will enjoy the journey
@@blackheartlord1440 No problem! If there is anything else that might interest you for a future video, be sure to let me know and i'll take it into consideration!
@@blackheartlord1440 Thanks! I actually did a list for Top Ten Best Fight (imo) of Gintama. You can search it up on my channel. I might update it eventually but i think it's worth a watch!
Gintokis back story is so heartbreaking it makes all sad mc backstories look weak but still i aint saying they're bad i mean they also have a huge influence on the mc but Gintoki's backstory hits hard ma man it really does
I really like he's back story, its given to us very little by little and its very hard to keep track, its a very complexe backstory that is really complet exepte before he met Shoyo and he's age. I didnt expect this video, very happy 😁 Can't wait for the next season that was "annonce" not very sure yet and no date unfornutatly 😥
Yeah at the moment we are not sure when it will release but at least they confirmed they are working on it! Glad you enjoyed the video, I agree, I also like how Gintoki's backstory is spread out throughout the entire series instead of everything being handed to us on a silver platter. It gives us that sense of mystery and truly wanting to figure out what exactly happened to him in his past.
A comedy hero with a very sad and emotional backstory As much as we like to laugh alot, but the backstory really explains how much Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi has gone through. All the pain and burden they have to go through
What I like about gintama, usually every anime have a goal at the start, like for hxh gon wants to be a hunter and find his father, Naruto wants to be a hokage, and for them to achieve that "goal", they need to do smth, for example training arc, exam arc etc, but the thing about gintoki, he doesn't have any goal, or I can say he "already" did the things that I've mentioned 10 years ago basically before the anime even start(since gintoki is 27 years old in anime so I assume when he fought the war when he was 17/18), so what should he do? He basically lost everything, at this point he just want to live, read manga, do some odd jobs(if he has any), running from paying the rent, and that's it, until he runs into shinpachi and kagura, shinsengumi and others(too many to mention)where he finally develop a connection, a goal, which is to protect them. And this is why I like the way they focus more about character introduction at the earlier eps where every character have their own backstory and not just side character who come and go, this is a good strategy for character attachment, this basically proven in mitsuba arc, when mitsuba who just appeard only for 2 eps but the audience still remember her name, her face, until the end of the story, and the way they connected the characs who you thought for comedy purpose, actually played a big role for the plot
Exactly, whole heartedly agree with this statement. That’s what makes Gintama so special but at the same time, so underrated and many people don’t give it a chance due to its progression. Gintama’s story is more about branching path lines that eventually fall into place near the end once things start to be revealed instead of the linear storyline like you mentioned.
The fact we never got a movie that covers this part of the story is quite sad. Woulda been a standing success and had the potential to add some extra content
Oh geez now I want to find out if the old yorozuya ended up surviving or not haha. Anyways, thanks for making a video on this subject! Gintoki is such a great character and probably my favorite shonen mc as well.
I came back here again because I miss Gintama... Now I have a question, why Gintoki always bring a wooden sword? I know that sword is banned so that's why he use a wooden one. But why bringing a sword? I got this question after Oboro said "they can't even hold a sword anymore" after Shouyou's death. I mean Takasugi and Zura still held onto their sword, but they have a reason for bringing it. But Gin-san just opened a Yorozuya, I don't think (at first glance) a yorozuya need a sword to run the business. He was ready to die when he offers himself to be beheaded. Then he met Otose, does the promise he made with Otose's husband made him hold his sword again so he can protect someone?
Partly to protect Otose, partly because he's just used to having a weapon. Gintok spent most of his life on the battlefield, fighting is already a part of his nature.
There's a minor detail you forget. Gintoki didn't know his parents he was took by a group of swordsman and was teach the way of fighting but the group died a long with the war and then shouyo shows up.
I really admire the realistic MC in gintama. It's the least realistic anime by the context but the characters are a different story. Each one of them is greatly portrayed. I've watched so many animes but nothing can't compare to Gintama. Such an amazing story
Thank you for the video! Gintama is my favorite anime/story/show/whatever and Gintoki is my favorite character in any media His story made me speechless, only bits and pieces shown to us, still letting us understand the character and love him
Goddammit, it's so heartwrenching knowing his past, thanks for making this! I wanted to know more about his past and while I've gotten pretty far in the series and learned some of his past I got a little impatient for the whole arc with Shoyo lol. Plus this is a nice retrospective in general, joining together all the clips and knowledge of Gin's past. Gintoki is a great example of a Byronic hero/anti-hero! Somehow the show blends comedy and drama effortlessly, and it seems like I get blindsided every time lol but in a good way. It also shows that you can't judge a book by its cover. On the surface Gintoki appears rude, lazy, perverted, arrogant, and just in general a total slob. But he's actually got a really good heart, he's actually a lot more selfless than he lets on (which is probably why he can never make enough money to pay the rent sadly lol), and he is passionate when it comes to protecting the people and beliefs he cares about. He acts pretty cocky but I think it's just that, an act. Deep down, I think Gintoki is really insecure and a part of him hates himself for what he did even though he had no other choice. And if he comes off as apathetic and lazy, well, he's kinda earned that right after all the crap he's been through (and somehow continues to get put through). I have Depression, among a myriad of other mental illnesses lol, so I can sadly relate a lot to Gin in someways. Particularly the "lazy" and "apathetic" parts, though unlike him I haven't earned those at all. 🤡Although I've never truly considered it and I would never actually do it, I admit there have been times where I've sorta wondered why I'm alive. Sometimes it feels like my life is already over at age 27. I'm a complete failure of a person, and sometimes I feel as though I'm only a burden on those I love. But... Gintama is inspiring and helps me to keep going. It's not the only thing ofc, but it does help. If someone as lazy and sloppy as Gin can have value as a person, then maybe so can I. Despite all his hardships, all the pain Gin has suffered, he still somehow keeps going, keeps moving forward. He constantly tells others to live, that life "doesn't have to be fun." Sorry though, I didn't mean to go on about my personal problems or dump all this heavy shit on a retrospective video lol, thanks again for making this!
@@RainbowEssence-c3w I deeply, sincerely, thank you for this response! Also don’t feel ashamed to open up! Gintama is my favorite series and I love how it portrays each character. I highly recommend the show Welcome to the NHK. It’s another personal favorite and it showed me that those thoughts, feelings I have, i’m not the only one. Look into it! I keep remember how funny and amazing this anime was but I keep forgetting how emotional the Characters story is like I remember how I cried in the movie 🤧
One thing, in the Courtesan of the Nation arc Oboro says that Gintoki is an orphan of the Kansai Purge. This suggests that Gintoki's parents (or at least father) were most likely involved in the war in some way, and were killed due to their involvement, leaving Gintoki as an orphan going around raiding corpses in order to survive. This brought about a major decline in the rebel activity, and all future attempts to raise a new generation of rebels in schools such as Gintoki's were ordered to be stopped, because they might cause future rebellions. The war started when Gintoki was just a baby, and he joined in the later part of the war. This is said in an episode of Ginpachi Sensei, but it makes sense in the timeline. The Kansai Purge was already over when Shoka Sonjuku was raided.
when people was hype at gintoki vs takasugi but when it happend i myself said please stop now thats just how powerful that fight is thanks for the video🙌
You listened to my request and made a video about gintoki’s past ❤️ It was really presented nicely and showed me why I love sakata gintoki the best protagonist in all anime history
I think something this anime highlights just amazingly is that, you, on your journey are meant to be alone. That there are ALWAYS certain points in life where we as humans find ourselves completely alone but even if it’s just a while we also have to stay aware that this is just a phase and there will be people who will join our journey very soon, these people…they might be facing the same “phase” as you. But trust as they ALWAYS come, we have to know that they also ALWAYS leave. So at the end of the day, you are by yourself. That some people, Like family or childhood friends, might remain for a longer period of time. But this journey is yours, and if gintoki that day would have not met otose he would’ve died. But he did, coincidentally, he did. So you all DON’T YOU GIVE UP. The best people and the most important ones are always met coincidentally
Gintama and Gintoki will always be No.1 in my Heart... and nobody can change that for me... The Best Anime I've Ever Watched!!! Yorozuya Forever...♥️😍😊😁

What I love the most is because of the Amanto invading earth, he met Kagura and Shinpachi. They met during the invasion of the Amanto, and they got to be Odd Jobs when the Amanto left
Gintoki really gives best life quotes from the start At episode 1 when gintoki stated a quote I knew exactly at that moment that this guy has went through something horrible and has known bests and worsts of life. So watched it all the way to know his backstory what actually happened to him.
It was really good, you explained it well, good edit, ost on point. You did a amazing job really it was so enjoyable to see and heard Gintoki's backstory GOOD JOB

This is just a suggestion but if you think you can make it maybe you can try making each arc summary in Gintama. This is too much to request honestly but as I say it's a suggestion for video content.
@Supreme Ace cause he genuinely cared more about his friends and Shoyo than himself
Takasugi does not blame Gintoki for Shoyo's death, but he is angry at Gintoki because he chose to save Katsura and Takasugi instead of Shoyo.
@@ehoan0 yeah, but he only understood that after having a serious talk with Gintoki which happened during their fight.
This helps mantaining an enigmatic aura about him, since you never experience to know his true thoughts, and to be magnetically fascinated by him
Totally agree!

A great description for Gintama
I laughed a lot when gintoki threw the old yorozuya down a river and the music stopped. Yea that was a morbid lol
I couldn't just play sad music within that scene. This is Gintama after all xD
What episode the original yoruzuya
Hergeelyn Rayos ep 138
Thank you
One thing I love is that we pretty much always learn Gintoki's backstory through other characters.
Very nice touch Sorachi-sensei.
in most anime..the protagonist's backstory is always shown from the start.. but its not the same with gintama which makes it very interesting!
Patt_San Sadaharu agreed. Loved how each detail is spread throughout the story and then eventually all comes together.

Gintoki is such a well written character and how the author reveals his past by letting us viewer peicing it together one by one is just amazing. I never seen such a well written shounen plot and character as gintama
Nurin Nabilah Agreed! 💯
i knew gintoki was hiding something from us in the anime remember he said “i protect what i want to protect”
out of all the shonen anime ive seen, Gintama is definitely the best, it doesnt have exaggerated personalities, even if they do there still human-like, its actually funny, they can actually kill someone/a villain (lol), and character pasts are revealled right away. its literally perfect!

@@INCOGNITO-iq4qy If I remember correctly she had an affair with one of the members.
Spoiler:
For example, in Shippuden, the Pain arc was my fave bec it forced Naruto to confront his idealism (although, I'm still not satisfied with the answer he came up with "i believe, so you should believe me too" In the end, he remained an idealist). If so, how can he, as Pain said "how can you be so sure that life won't change you?"
Anyway, long ramble. Every living day he is being challenged with "will life change you?"
And in the end, Gin still fails on his goal of protecting everything he holds dear, depending on your perspective.
“He’s a realist” is so factual it isn’t even funny. Which makes his character and all of the things he says and does, even feat wise, just insane.
Gintoki already went on his Shonen Adventure, but instead of finding the One Piece or becoming Hokage, he got PTSD
Gintama, it makes you laugh so damn hard, and it makes you cry of sympathy.
The balance of Comedy and seriousness

Mengu S agreed! He is a great character that represents no matter how hard of a life you may have had, do not give in to the temptation to end yourself and instead, strive forward to change for the betterment of yourself and to try to find the good in life.
In the first opening of the anime, there was a scene of him in a battlefield and he wakes up like it was a nightmare only to wake up to everyone greeting him.
I thought it was weird at first but seeing it now, its a nice little addition.
Gintoki's situation during Shoyo's execution really hits me the hardest and never fails to make me cry :'(
I've learned so many things from someone who never existed
Prius Killer Agreed. March Comes In Like a Lion is also a very well-written series.
Amazing video as always ! Gintoki’s backstory is just too sad man... He is definitely my favorite character of all time !

For some reason I think Sorachi really makes a implicit critic of some postmodernist aspects of our society, even when he's japanese.Well, and old man once said "Humanity is one".
*And now I know why Gin loves sweet, because his previous life is bitter*
I've known about Gintama for a long time but I'm so sad that it's taken me this long to actually watch it and I've watched a lot of anime ever since I was very young but I thought the series was nothing but a confusing gag show that borrowed heavily from other series. Finally realised how wrong I was and now I fully understand the statement 'there are two types of people. One who loves Gintama and the other who has never seen Gintama.' Yorozuya forever ❤️❤️❤️
The story of gintoki inspired me
It was all sad until 7:55 then I laughed.
Michael Stallings Basically Gintoki’s life in a nutshell xD
Me too hahahahahahahahahahahaha
What i like about Gintoki is despite his past full of tragedies, he just keep living, helping people even strangers. The way he smiles everyday with the yorozuya, the way he keeps fighting for anyone he cares and lives like a child. For me, that's impossible to overcome those tragedies. I cried
For people who wants to watch gintama, here I list some advice
- don't binge watching( 10 eps per day) just start 1 or 2 eps per day
- don't watch bcz u expect smth( I'm talking about plot)
- watch bcz u have free time, or u want to release some stress
- watch in order( s1, s2 etc )
- have "at least" watched 50 other animes or u wont understand anything (gintama famous with their title: king of parody ), DON'T make gintama as your first anime
- don't skip op and ed (trust me)
- be a bit patient, and don't drop it in the middle, this type of anime will slowly develop and progress
Btw I've never seen people who watch gintama from the start until the end complain about the story is boring, cliche, repetitive, plot going downward, the ending sucks etc, the people who complain basically bcz they drop in first 10 ep, that's why I said be a bit patient and u will enjoy the journey

Gintoki is the best character to come out of modern storytelling, east or west in recent memory.
A really tragic past of him but the funny part was when he threw his yorozuya frnds into the river 😂 that hit me hard
Senti Naro Lol and they never came back 😂
A comedy hero with a very sad and emotional backstory
As much as we like to laugh alot, but the backstory really explains how much Gintoki, Katsura and Takasugi has gone through. All the pain and burden they have to go through
Yes, it is an emotional rollercoaster filled in with many comedic moments to lift the pain lol.
Simply the best character to ever exist and no one can tell me otherwise.
*He respected his teacher's wish*
Why i am crying?
Luna Silver No problem, glad you enjoyed! Gintoki is definitely my favorite shonen MC. Had a lot of fun with this video so i’m glad you liked it :D
Why not? It’s from an immortal tree lmfao.
What the heck, i'm crying while watching these, i just remembered what happened there and the flashbacks makes me cry

Gintoki is a very complex character but it doesn't seem that way on the surface lol. Glad you enjoyed the video!

It was really presented nicely and showed me why I love sakata gintoki the best protagonist in all anime history
Abdullaziz nouman I’m glad you enjoyed it! These videos are always fun to make :)
Well i was the first one to make the request
I wish they made a movie going into gintoki life more deeply
Lmao tying up the old members is so good
The words i can think of and not cry...
ARIGATOU GINTOKI...
and I cry again while writing this...
Waaaah, my heart ! Love you Gin~san. Thanks for this video.
Gintama and Gintoki will always be No.1 in my Heart... and nobody can change that for me... The Best Anime I've Ever Watched!!! Yorozuya Forever...♥️😍😊😁
beautiful video, really nicely put
anas krawi thank you so much! Glad you liked it!
Great vid, you've done well explaining moments chronologically... that's storytelling for you... gintoki really has a very inspiring story, a real unchanging soul that still shines whatever the fate throws on him....
btw, you have a cute accent when you speak their names or any japanese terms.... i forgot to mention that on all your previous vid...
Dianne M. Haha aww thank you :) I’m really glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah, I love how we learn bits and pieces of Gin’s past as time goes on rather than everything being thrown at us from the get-go. Really glad you all seem to enjoy it!
What I love the most is because of the Amanto invading earth, he met Kagura and Shinpachi. They met during the invasion of the Amanto, and they got to be Odd Jobs when the Amanto left
Love it... You summarized it really well. Thank you...
I knew all this yet I’m still bawling my eyes out. Great video!
Thank you!
I don't even watch gintama but i feel this story man 😢😢😢
@@rooneykwami4820 it be a heartbreaker 😢
This stirred my heart! All these characters have had such terrible pasts they probably use humour as a coping mechanism.
Dang..I cried. Thanks and keep up the work.
Anime Lover! Haha no problem and thank you so much 🙏
Best Main Character of all time in my opinion
The best character that ever created Sakata gintoki
Gintoki really gives best life quotes from the start
At episode 1 when gintoki stated a quote I knew exactly at that moment that this guy has went through something horrible and has known bests and worsts of life. So watched it all the way to know his backstory what actually happened to him.
Exactly. He quotes and gives advice to the characters due to his own experience/ personal beliefs.
Its just so tragic. But its the essence of the story. live days of cloud but believe in the sun
I got tears........ That's why gintoki is the best
Glad you liked the video!
Amazing work Mairuzu! A very detailed summary of Gintoki's struggles and experiences. Happy to have you back at it again!!
Lord Dracule thanks a lot Dracule!
I love Gintoki so so much 😭💕 Thank you for this video
Thank you for watching :)

Hey thank you so much! That really means a lot! If you have any other requests for videos, let me know and i'll consider them!
what about the *pakuyasa?*
Man, after finishing the series!
Just these explanations tears my eyes!♥️
CHHIREE SHERPA haha glad you are enjoying them!
Nicely explained!😍😍
Loved it dude!👀❤️
Really love story of this anime 😊
Thankyou.
Bro I can't...its just depressing and sad watching T-T His story is so good, unlike other MCs I've seen so far whom had like their parents killed at such a young age and etc.
I love how gintokis past is so dramatic and serious than suddenly he is working with 2 cyborg black men and an alcoholic black woman
Can I cry now ? 😢
*taps back* it's okay to cry...
This is just a suggestion but if you think you can make it maybe you can try making each arc summary in Gintama. This is too much to request honestly but as I say it's a suggestion for video content. Cause the way you explain about Gintoki make me happy and each arc of Gintama have meaningful story behind it.Well almost each episode actually! Anyway it's just a suggestion.I hope you won't feel pressured with this suggestion😅
