    This video goes out-of-focus somewhere in the middle and at the time of filming, I didn’t know why. It’s never happened before!
    Upon further investigation, I discovered that Zeke left a bit of spit on the lens when he rubbed his face on the camera earlier in the video 🤦🏼‍♀️
    I BLAME ZEKE. This is the price we pay for cat cameos, I guess 😂 I’ll make sure to wipe my lens off next time and it won’t happen again! Thanks for bearing with me!

    Regarding the 2nd story with Pure Romance and the Bridezilla, my heart went out to these young ladies in the bridal party who felt pressured by a tacky bride. My own daughter had a similar experience with the same kind of tantrum and “if you don’t, you’re OUT of the wedding.” Well, she texted her momma. 😅 I told her that unless this was a “friendship” she thought was valuable to stand up and walk out, and I would repay her for everything she spent on her bridesmaid dress and shoes, and she could do whatever she wanted with it. This brat of a bride had been such of a monster for so long that my baby decided this was her ENOUGH moment. She got up and left, and two other bridesmaids joined her. Best $500 I ever spent, transferring that money to my daughter’s Venmo and knowing that Bridezilla was going to have to scramble for more victi- I mean, bridesmaids. 🥳💪🏼 #mommabear

    Story 3: I really hope nothing like that ever happens to anyone, but if someone shows up at a wake or memorial service who is unwelcome (especially when that someone is so obviously soliciting) you as a family member do not need to engage. Find a staff member for the funeral home/church and tell them to remove the person. The confrontation doesn’t have to fall on you and the unwelcome person doesn’t need to know you asked for them to be removed. That was absolutely unhinged behavior and funeral home staff will protect their grieving families when needed.

    • @Acinnn
      @Acinnn Рік тому +7

      thus reminds me when my aunt died her college ( as she claimed) showed up and inserted herself even into out private dinner we had at home after the funeral. She wasn't "hun" but probably was part of some cult or some weird religion that morfed Christianity with Buddhism, talking about reincarnation of Jesus or some angels. She took the spot lite for the whole time.. talking about all sorts of things. She even went with us when we went place the urn to family grave. Only good thing that she did is that we weren't annoyed by our other aunt that usually tries to dictate to others how they should live their lives.

    • @MarionThiessen
      @MarionThiessen Рік тому +13

      I am a funeral director, and this is unfortunately common. Families warn us that a certain someone might arrive who is not welcome, and we usually ask for a family member to come get should the person arrive to talk to them and ask them to leave without making it a scene.

      I was diagnosed with PCOS 25 years ago. I cannot urge you strongly enough to see an endocrinologist, not a GYN for treatment. PCOS is rooted in hyperinsulinism. BC pills control the symptoms but not the underlying cause, and are NOT adequate as a treatment. PCOS affects not just fertility, but has an impact on your lifelong health. It's important to treat the root cause.

When I walked into the house, there was a Pure Romance rep set up in the living room. The rep was a classmate of ours from high school. I had to sit through the presentation while sitting between my mother and my other friend's grandmother. My brother's fiancee was in attendance and would give details on how she would use the products. It was awkward. Completely awkward. At the end of the night, the rep took people into a different room to get their orders and made sure to state that *I* would be getting the hostess credits to pick things out "for the honeymoon". I let the 'friend' who set the party up keep the hostess "benefits". I don't talk to her much anymore. That party was definitely nothing like me or my interests.

    Oddly, the situation of making a new friend only to find out it was to sell you something and if you don't buy they drop you like a hot potato has happened to me several times but with religion. When we moved to a new neighborhood, our neighbors were the nicest people ever. They even brought over a full sized Cheesecake Factory cheesecake (not cheap!) and said we'd have to get together once we were all moved in. Super nice people. Then she brought over a flier for her mega church. I told her no thank you, we weren't looking for a church, she left and they never spoke to us again. Fifteen years we've been neighbors and they won't even acknowledge me or wave back when I see them in the yard. I wish I could say this was the only time that's happened. You CAN do these mlm things in a positive way for parties. When my cousin got married my aunt threw his fiancé a pampered chef shower. The invitations were clear what it was and specified to not bring presents as we could pick out things for the bride at the party to order.
    My sister and I pooled some money to get our cousin’s fiancé something nice. The party was fun. The food was great. And I would’ve bought a present for the shower either way.
    But this was actually kinda brilliant as all the points from the party turn into rewards for the bride too and ppl there could also order for themselves if they saw something they liked.
    There was no pressure and it was truly a good time. But it was all up front and made clear. And like I said, you buy presents for showers generally-so it didn’t bother me to do it this way. If that crazy bridezilla just been honest and called it a spicy bridal shower/bachelorette party-they would’ve known what to expect and it could’ve been a fun time.
    But you should NEVER expect someone to order from an mlm party if they don’t want to. That’s ridiculous.

    Inside the shop, I suddenly got a hard hit of fragrance..something that practically screamed " Your Elderly Aunt Helen". Kind of old and rancid smelling and way too much of it.
    I had found her!
    I followed the smell til I located the woman in question. She was in her late fifties, and had perfectly coiffed , shortish, helmet hair, kind of like a flight attendant in the 70's. A man approached me saying that I had great customer service manner, and that he had a "business opportunity" for me (Red Flag #1), since I was about to be out of work. I accepted his invitation to an informal meeting over coffee (Red Flag #2), and as soon as I sat down he similarly whipped out a catalogue of products and began his pitch about how I can "work for myself" and that I'd be "buying these household products monthly anyway" -- my chest got tight and I stopped listening. I felt ridiculous for not seeing the initial red flags and realizing he was probably an MLM hun. The best part is, he left in a hurry and I had to pay for BOTH our coffees.

    Ooof, the Mary Kay story and lack of inclusivity around skin tones just gave me a memory of when a classmate in high school hosted a Mary Kay party back in around 1998 (she was 16 or 17 - I don't know if this was through her mother or anything and I don't know what the rules were for hosting a party in Australia at the time).
    My sister and I were there to support our friend so we ended up at a very well attended makeup party. For context, my sis and I are ethnically Filipino and I'm several shades darker than my sister. Mary Kay rep was very frustrated that she couldn't find a good shade in her palette for me, apparently too dark for the light shades and 'too yellow' for the few darker shades available, which was a thing that she actually said, and I think (I hope?) all of us were too shocked to know what to say in response. I can't remember saying anything in response anyway, and I can't remember if anyone else said anything. I do know I didn't buy anything but my sister bought a few things because her 18th was coming up and I guess her skin tone worked with their palettes.
    The rep's comment is not something I've really thought about since until now, but 25 years on, looking at the palette that you've brought up on the screen, it doesn't really feel like much has changed in the inclusiveness in the shades. I've never really been into makeup since so I've never looked into getting shades that match my skin tone, so I have no recommendations for inclusive brands unfortunately.

This was just the random way that our class ended up. For the dermatology portion of the class, she brought in her entire skincare line. This included a skincare line for the guys. They loved it and were just as into it (even the masks) as we were. Our pic even turned up in the yearbook. That MK hun apparently wasn’t too versed in her product (btw, our teacher didn’t require any of us to buy, but we were welcome to if we wanted to.
