To all of you fans out there searching for their music on CD or DVD; Koinonia has released a compactbox called "All the best" - including all of their brilliant albums; "More than a feelin", the livealbum "Celebration", "Frontline", and the selftitled last album "Koinonia". This fabulous box also contains the two liveDVD's "Live in Gothenburg (Sweden) from '83, and the live from Montreux ('84) where the livecut above is taken from!
I've got Koinania and Celebration on vinyl. I was amazed at their talent back then, still am. Each artist stands out as the best of the group which only makes sense when you listen.
Waou That's great this guys are excellent, je les écoute depuis des années et c'est toujours aussi frais et actuel ! des modèles à suivre. God bless you brothers :-)
Amazing how tight all these guys play together. They're all at the top of their game in that era for sure. Laboriel is off the charts already, and to think he would get even better?!!!
You`re welcome. I have more, but I can`t find it. I had a concert with Koinonia from Norway. I think the concert was from 1989....90 or 91. Don`t remember
Michael Poke This was jazz "fusion" back then, albeit, as you correctly observe, with lots of Latino roots (as Laboriel and Almario [and Acuna] all have that heritage). These days it would probably be classified as "smooth jazz". Laboriel and Almario, in particular, still are producing recordings and performances and that's generally what they're labeled. Also look for "Open Hands", which includes those two (and Bill Maxwell, the drummer here) with Greg Mathieson in a very inventive quartet format.
to abe7ikytx, hi, I've also been looking for these guys since the late '80's and I used to have a cassette tape, copied from a LP vinyl. U tube rocks!! thanks
Solche Musik wird heute nicht mehr gespielt. das ist sehr schade. grandios sich das heute noch anhören zu können. Gibt irgendwo noch cd's,casetten oder aehnliches?

Those were the days... 5 years before I was born. Man, what's going on with music today? I feel so sad about it.
This band communicates with movements. Every time I watch them, I want so badly to have a way to communicate back to them.
Gunnnnar10 thank you so much for this!!!!

I used to have the tape back in the 80's but it's since been chewed. Can't find the CD anywhere these days. Thanks for posting it I love it.
