hey i was hoping you could help me I dont know if you know the solution. I've got 3 external monitors, 2 of which will work at one time, but never all three, I've got one running from the HDMI port and 2 are running from the thunderbolt connections. They all work wonderfully but I can't get them to all work in tandem. Let me know if you've got a solution for me and great video!
You said this quite subtlety in the video, but it bears emphasizing: There is a difference between a 4K Monitor and a 4K TV. You can connect 3 of the 4K Monitors to a Mac Pro, but only 2 of the 4K TVs. To connect another monitor, you have to downgrade to a VGA connector on the third monitor (or TV). Which is a shame, since 4K TV’s are so cheap now. I just purchased a demonstration unit 43” 4K TV at Costco for $190.
I just found that I could connect the third monitor via a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable connected via another Thunderbolt device Daisy-chained to the MacPro. Just make captain that it isn’t on the same Bus as the other two video connections.
only 3 monitor are posible, in oder to have 3 monitor work with hdmi, the monitor must be k4, that for the Mac pro late 2013, round trash can looking one.
Duuuuuude... damned if this didn't work!!!! That VGA connector was EXACTLY what I needed!!!! (Thanks for the info... cause I don't think I would have ever figured this thing out!!!)
Hey man, I also ordered VGA connector too. I am planning to connect 2 of my monitors with HDMI THUNDERBOLT connectors and one VGA connector. Do you think it will work?
Apple. So elegant. NOT. I’m an Apple user btw and getting more and more sick of the gymnastics we need to go through. Researching this lately and pc users have this MUCH easier.
the reason why you can't connect all 3 hdmi, is because in order for all 3 monitor to work, they must be 4k.,, but id you don't have k4,, the VGA is the way to go.
Thank you 🫡
thanks for posting this - I wasn't sure where to start. Looks like I need to get some adapters!
thanks..pretty useful video
Thank you
Thank you for this!!!

Chris Martin could you describe this in more detail? Thanks
will this work with mid 2010 mac pro
I have the same model Mac Pro and I want to connect 6 monitors. Do you think it's possible to connect to connect all 6 monitors VGA to Thunderbolt?
Not for sure
it actually worked. I used 4 VGA and 2 HDMI.
