I also drive for Maverick and I'm in truck 220096. I just rolled over 9,000 miles and I'm still not used to the Mirror Eye system lol. I love it in the rain and backing up at night. There are a couple of things I don't like about it but overall, it works fantabulous so far!
Awesome thanks for watching. I like it so far. I find backing with it takes some getting used too. I'm still a little squirrely with it.
No problem man. Backing up is a little tricky. But, I like how the camera moves with the back of the trailer. That feature comes in handy alot lol. Even just turning at a red light or stop sign.
@@BigTrucking Is your biggest annoyance not having the view move with your head like with the mirrors?
That's freaking awesome! Especially when it's raining....dude... How great is that!😎🤟
I like it.
Thanks for explaining the camera system
Thanks for watching!
I think the new mirror camera system are great, they should put them on all the 2022 truck's, it should come standard when buying a 2022 truck.
All new Maverick trucks going forward will have them
They should also add a camera to the back of the tractor for backing up
Some of the loads we do would block the feed.
I gotta say more technical problems will happen with this system when a salt truck can put out 200 tons of salt a night so here in the rust belt salt and salt brine will eat that system up we found out electric cars are having a major problem here in Ohio due to corrosion
Maybe, they will definitely have some challenges for sure.
I'm not mad about the electric car corrosion...🤷♂️
If they save 20 dollars a week per truck in fuel at 1500 trucks that's 30k a week in fuel savings. That's a lot of pay raises and drivers added over a year.
It's a lot!
That is a unique system on the truck. I've never heard of a mirror eye system, but when you explain how it works, it is very efficient. It is also a great thing to have because the system makes drivers aware of potential danger or safety issues. It makes you wonder if other trucking companies will start doing the same thing. I think it is a lifesaver.
👍
Looks like a good system don't know if I would not want outside mirrors always a chance it could malfunction or fail
It has 10 different ways not to break or go out.
@@BigTrucking That may be true, but a real mirror NEVER runs out of power. You might break a real mirror, but it will never run out of power. Even if these "electronic eyes" system has its own back up power source/sources, it could STILL go out. That is just the down side of technology, and old school will always have its place, even if it is relegated only to back up.
That was a really great review. I think it would be worth it just for elimination of the mirror blind spot alone. Miley question is does this also eliminate the need for your hood mirrors too
Nope. Still use it
Hopefully u do good
Aight, one question. If you pull up to a road, instead of being 90 degrees to it your 70 degrees towards the left. The only way to see back to your right is to get up and look out the passenger side or trust the mirror on the hood. Can the passenger side camera be trained down the road that way? Keep up the good work.
Still got to lean out. I can adjust the angle of the camera but not at a 70° but you can definitely see more.
❤❤❤
Thanks for the information on this camera system....does it have any DVR functionality? You know...in case some 4 wheeler side swipes you...
Yep. 2hrs. There is a green button we can push and it sends 2hrs of video to Maverick for review.
I love it!.. ❤️ wow
It's pretty awesome!
I came to the mid American truck show with this high on my list to check out. So far I have not seen mirror eye here…disappointing
Well damn. I know TMC will be ordering them for their trucks also.
Really cool system. But, I never heard you mention where the cameras actually are. Would you por favor? And, is there a backwards facing camera? I thought I saw'r a quick glance of that...✌🏼
There is no back up camera. The cameras are mounted above the the doors. If you watch the truck tour video I show them unfolding and folding back in. The middle screen you saw was the downward facing camera. It shows everything beside the passenger door. I kept that out of the video so I could do a youtube short. It's coming.
@@BigTrucking Outstanding reply. So many thanks...
Thanks!
What is the brand or model of this?? Know the website? Would like to buy one of these for the passenger side
It's called Mirror Eye, and it's made by a company called Stonebridge.
Hi know you did not have to pay for the system but about what do they cost ?
Not a clue. I would say no less than $5000 though
I am picking up my 22 this week. I found out I have to take a training class for it. I herd you talk about taking the mirrors off. Are they completely removing the traditional mirrors and replacing them? Or are we getting both the Mirror Eye and traditional Mirrors?
We still have outside mirrors. As far as I know the FTC has not approved taking the mirrors off yet. The company is running test in the Chicago area
@@BigTrucking the FMCA has approved removing the traditional mirrors and DOT also.. save 2% in fuel costs..
It looks like there's a difference in vehicles approaching the trailer and truck between the two?
Not much different than the reflection in the mirror.
@@BigTrucking looks like a great system. In these days of insane drivers we need all the help possible.
Some of the air noise will be gone hopefully too.
Maybe. That would be nice.
👍🇺🇸

How much will it cost for the average joe 🤔
No clue
