I do understand young workers that do not work weekends for straight time ! Union Jobs with flexible 7 day starts are not good jobs ! What is the driver turnover rate at Maverick ?

I think alot of what discourages drivers from doing cpm, percentage, flat rate driving is the amount of work you have to do without getting paid for it. This is on the flatbed side. I ran flatbed regional for a while. Just look at the time of securement and tarping on your LA load. Plus you have to double tarp, hell no…… Plus I agree with recruiting a lot of BS flows out of their mouths

I want to come to Maverick. Right now I’m taking the time to work with my weights and condition my body to a new line of work. I’m currently running dry van, and looking to go into flatbed. I need to do something with more physical activity.

Some people see the money, but they don’t want to work for it. As soon as they see it’s hard work, they don’t want to do it.

Hello hello I’m watching your videos from the Dominican Republic this is where I grew up and I been driving tractor trailer since 1992 but I have my own truck in the USA but I doing dry van but now I’m driving going to do flatbed because I hear that flatbed don’t have appointments and for the most part is no waiting for loading or unloading thank you for everything we all learn from ur videos god bless

The retention numbers are out of your control unfortunately. People just don’t want to work. Been flatbedding now for 16 months and love every bit of it.. dry van is not an option at this point. If I was given an opportunity with Maverick or TMC I would jump on in a heartbeat. Stay safe out there🤘🏼

School is nothing like the real world

I am on my second month here at maverick. It's hard work but I am getting thru it. I didn't have a trainer since I already have truck driving experience. After orientation, they handed me my keys to a truck and told me to have fun haha.

I mean some people don’t know they don’t want to do it until they start. That’s about all there is to it.

Flatbed is hard work It's not for everyone It's not for drivers without common sense....

I used to train at Maverick (I truly enjoyed my five years there) and I never understood either on why a student would go through the charade of getting hired and going through the hell of orientation lol and everything else just to quit before they even get their truck. I had two students that would not too much longer after they finished all their training. I called them to see how they were doing and they told me they quit because it was too long to be away from home. I said to myself are you freaking serious? And just like you said, they're still on the hook for the CDL so good luck with that

I think the recruiters sell you have weekends off, yet do not explain what that really means. as to most that means the weekend Saturday and Sunday and back to work on Monday. Thus new drivers are missinformed what it means to be home the weekend. Turnover rate is being told you can make this you will get this amount of miles which neither turn out to be true in most cases. the later is why I don't drive but instead cut grass. ........................talking of students getting off the truck have you ever had to call and have one removed for whatever reason?

Boy that was a quick vacation. Probably felt like just a 34 hour re-set. Yeah we’re on hard times nowadays, can’t even enjoy a proper vacation anymore

My wife trained through maverick and all the trainer did was use her for profit in his pocket she did not learn anything she just drove so he could increase his mileage and pay but never showed her anything that she really needed to know the trainer was a total waste of time she passed and on her own she has told me she has learned more from asking questions to other drivers on the road than she ever did with this maverick trainer

I'm 59 and a new CDL owner. I am trying to decide whether to do Flatbed or Dry Van. I am in pretty good physical shape and I will be watching youtube videos of the physical test Maverick puts drivers through, but I am fairly positive I will do fine. I've seen other drivers suggest learning in a Dry Van for a year or so before trying Flatbed. Would you also suggest that? I will be starting orientation for a Dry Van in a couple of weeks but not sure if I should change my direction. I know flatbed generally pays for than Dry Van but I just don't want to be worn out, physically, in 10 years. Maybe I'll just get in better shape over time in a Fltabed than a Dry Van.

On holiday in the US from the UK touring around went from Larado to Corpus Christie and got pulled into a Border checkpoint miles from anywhere being English and also a bit deaf l thought the officer said carry on but he said to pull over my wife screamed stop and they ended up searching all our luggage and the car.🇬🇧

Back when i watched the border patrol show, you would see them pull over some random car and start to dismantle it. Miraculously they would find drugs or people hid in the craziest places. I just assumed it was scripted until I watched a video on UA-cam about the Florida ( my home state) scales. Anyway theres a part where you can see the scale masters (SM) monitor, it looks like an X-ray. You could see all the occupants in the vehicle as well as make out freight in the trailer. Thats when I thought if we have this here in Florida, the Mexican border has to be atleast equal to or better technology. It was a interesting video.
