The timing suggests a cop-out. He only started talking about it when he was losing money, not before. When the Sixers told him to go to see the psychiatrists he didn't, and they started to fine him again.
If he's suffering that much, why not retire? Why take the money and buy all this stuff but then do nothing? He could agree to a buyout and stop crippling the team and get rid of the expectations/pressure all at once.

I’ve never seen somebody with such raw talent and ability while also being given such great opportunities to succeed, COMPLETELY refuse to put in the minimal effort needed to be a dominant player on the court.
If he had the mindset of Jordan or Kobe, this dude would be lighting it up right now! It’s absolutely unprecedented! He was able to reach the pinnacle of basketball with just God-given talents.

I’m a Sixers fan so I was really invested into him working out and living up to his potential. Like you said, he was one of the few people that was compared to a great player like LeBron James that made sense. Their games weren’t exactly the same, but Ben Simmons had the ability to dominate the league similar to the way LeBron has.

Ben Simmons made the mistake of believing all of the hype surrounding him. He’s got talent to be sure, but he needs to do the work.
That is not his problem and he did put the work in and eventually got a serviceable jumper, as numerous people have said including legends like Joe Johnson and Paul Pierce, that Ben Simmons makes nearly every single shot he takes in pick up games during summer.
Ben problem is he legit has mental issues. And that’s it really. We didn’t even need him to make shots in Philly just simply take them but he refused to do it.
His problem is he believes the hype is some kind of destiny you don't have to work harder than everyone else to achieve in reality.

He’s a front of the rim sightline shooter.
Kobe, Jordan, Bird, Curry, Klay, can all be found saying some variation of targeting the rear of the rim hooks inside the hoop to ensure distance and accuracy.
With Simmons, his naturally “huck it” kind of motion and arm slot and the shorter, flatter cascade on his shot arc SCREAM a sightline at the front of the rim…
For anyone wondering abt his injury, I have the same thing as of right now, I’m 18, and I’m 6 months so far of laying in bed due to the pain, gone through intense physio, surgery, injections, I’m sure I could do a lot more with the doctors that Ben has available but the injury does infact destroy your mental and at this point I’m terrrified lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk and am terrified every time I have to get anything off the floor.
