I'm using switch pads myself and some switches sound significantly more muted than the rest. Now that there is another 'case' where this also happens, I'm willing to assume that it might be a certain way of application causing this sound. I's really difficult and annoying to apply consistently. I'll have a look when I have enough motivation

The Iqunix L80 line of keyboards are the best non-custom keyboard out there right now. hispeed wireless? check bluetooth wireless? check wired usb c? check hotswappable switches? check good quality PBT keycaps? check good color ways and appealing look? check tenkeyless in a compact form? check every other manufacturer is playing catch up at this point. Takes a lot of work to get it where you want it, but what keyboard doesn't? I have holy pandas lubed with krytox 205g2 in mine. Haven't done the tape mod yet, but I will now.

The main purpose of the pe foam mod is to cover as much surface area as possible. You have to cover the entire pcb for it to work. This is why foam pads are kinda useless because they only situate under the switch instead of the entire pcb.

switch pads are a lot less potent than PE foam mod, which might actually be a good thing because I personally dislike PE foam mod sound where everything sounds the same and plasticy AF.
I love the poron pads kbdfans makes. It doesn't have the crazy loud pop, no annoying cutting, and no increased risk of bent pins. They are more subtle and tend to make a more warm tone
@@DirtyGingy we think the same way! For me i chose switches for their sound profile and feeling. If i wanna PE mod a board then i wont bother with the sound profile. They all gonna sound the same lol. Switch pads ade definitely the middle choice
it depends on how thick of a layer of lube you apply; you can apply a thin layer to the housing and stem, or a thicker to the housing. you should get very similar results this applies to plate mount and pcb mount and the sounds and feel will vary with the type and application of lube

I always thought it was weird that people just clipped stabilizer stem feet. When I did it they were sometimes uneven so I sanded the bottom of the stems for a better bottom out feel.
Man...when you clip your stabs, the cut pieces stay where you want them to be. Mine just go YEEEEEET across the whole room, and I can't find them ever again s(pain)
Another mod that interests me with small but cannot be unheard differences.

never tried pe foam mod but i have installed IXPE switch pads on my board and they made it a bit more poppier than before
