    2:44:17 wait wait wait, why are you renovating individual tiles with railroad instead of a straight line of rails? does the railroad trade bonus apply from just a single railroad?! I thought I needed the whole route to be rail

      Trade routes in Civ 6 gain extra yields based on the "efficiency" value of the trade route, capping at 100%. The formula for calculating the bonus yields is just efficiency/distance (in tiles).
      Since railroads grant 2 points of efficiency, you actually only need to cover 50% of the trade route's distance in railroads in order to max out the efficiency. Creating a complete connection between the cities doesn't actually matter at all. Other things that grant efficiency points are water tiles and canals at 2 points each, and mountain tunnels at 15 points.
      Efficiency increases only the base gold yield of the trade route (which is based on the districts in the destination city). It doesn't increase the gold yield from any other modifiers such as civ abilities, trading posts, Reform the Coinage, or policy cards. In general, you can expect around ~8 gold per turn extra on every trade route from constructing a railroad. This gold per turn will then be multiplied by civ-wide bonuses you have to gold, such as high amenities or Kilwa Kisiwani.

    Why didn’t you settle your secod city on the hills? Is the extra prod really not worth one turn?

      If I settled on a plains hill with this spawn, the only tiles it'd have to work in its first ring would be 2-1s and 1-3s. I'd have to spend gold on tiles to salvage that, which would delay my ability to gold-buy a trader. I'd prefer to settle next to the 3-1 sugar tile (since food is very scarce with this spawn) with the ability to naturally grow into the 1-4 deer in the 2nd ring.

    What would be your gameplan if you couldn't kill Khmer? If I not mistaken, you had only 7 or 8 cities at turn 50, which is usually suboptimal. I remember watching someone playing Kristina a while ago and he went for 5 or 6 cities only before attacking his neighbor. Is this extremelly tall strategy actually viable with this civ?

      If I couldn't kill Khmer at knights, I likely would've tried to kill him upon unlocking Caroleans with the help of Giant's Causeway (The wonder gives a buff to units that causes them to have +3 combat strength when attacking for the rest of the game.) In the Better Balanced Game mod, anti-cavalry units can get a promotion at level 1 which grants them +10 combat strength against melee units, so I'd probably have built the Terracotta Army so that he wouldn't be able to hold me with Musketmen.
      The number of cities I settle as Kristina is entirely dependent upon the spawn. Sometimes I'll go ancestral hall with 10 cities by turn 50, other games I'll go Audience Chamber with 7-8 cities by turn 50. All of the considerations that go into deciding which build order I'll go for are explained in my video "Precisely how many settlers to produce".

    Great game as always. Question, why didn't you go biosphere? Or seaside resorts, I don't think you've built even one

    • @HersonCiv
      @HersonCiv  9 місяців тому +5

      The Biosphere is unlocked at Synthetic Materials, and I needed to rush for Guidance Systems in order to unlock Mobile Sams to block the nukes. Even if I rushed for Synthetic Materials right after unlocking Guidance Systems, I'd still only unlock the ability to start construction on the biosphere on turn 100 - by the time I actually finished constructing it, the game would already be over.
      As for seaside resorts, I simply forgot to build them because my coastline wasn't particularly extensive. I ought to have made a few of them, especially around the Giant's Causeway (which boosts the appeal of adjacent tiles substantially on account of being a natural wonder)

    Hey, why do you killed khmer player while pursuing culture victory? You were able to bring it back by liberating 1 population city but chose not to.
