What a lovely moment - a couple sharing a kiss whilst I played Debussy Clair de Lune in public at London St Pancras Train Station. You may have noticed that I do not play many classical pieces - but did you know I took normal classical piano lessons all the way to Grade 8 and then the ATCL Diploma before switching to Jazz and composition? I still do enjoy certain classical pieces and play them for my enjoyment, but I stopped studying classical piano because I felt it did not allow me to have as much freedom to create and interpret.
Of course, I knew all of this. As I am quite anti-authoritarian, I can sympathise with your decision to have more artistic freedom. I love your playing of classical music (and lots of other stuff, too) as you are so emotionally expressive in your playing. Debussy, especially in Clair de Lune, perhaps, is so romantic. Hardly surprised that it moved the couple to kiss. Beautifully and romantically played. Absolutely delightful for me. 💖💖💑👩❤👨👨❤👨👩❤👩🎼🎹
Very enjoyable! My favourite classical works, Beethoven's 9th, Mozart's Clarinet Concerto, Bach Brandenburg Concertos (pretty hard to choose between them but 5, 3 & 2 jump to mind) but Jazz, classic rock, Rap/Hip-hop & boogi-woogi are all up there.
Every time I hear "Claire de Lune", I close my eyes and hear my dad playing it on our piano. I have always loved that song since I was a kid. My dad has been gone since 1984.
Some folks don't have the ear for "special"music. I'll never understand it...but I cd never walk past his level of music without stopping to listen...he's awesome beyond words❣️❣️❣️🤗🤙
Claire de Lune is my favorite musical piece, it’s so lovely, I find it hard not to feel peaceful whenever it’s played. :) Fantastic job as usual, Cole. You’ve got a musical gift, please don’t ever stop playing.
You bring joy to my days Cole I have been following your music for some time now and you are such an amazing talented young man I don’t think you realize how many people you made happy keep playing bud!
I didn't know what that beautiful composition was called but I loved it when I heard it in the movie Oceans Eleven. I could listen to it all day. He played it beautifully! ❤️
Thank You Cole, Really beautiful and I know that you finished learning this for me and other Patrons and Livestream regulars who had been asking for you to play this all through. As I told you on the day, Claude Debussy would have been proud. Clair de Lune is such a beautiful piece. As you know, I love all your music and you have heard it from me before that I wish you would play classical music more often, if for no other reason than to show you can. It was great to be with you and your Dad there on the day and I really enjoyed this. Thanks again.
First, I want to say that I love listening to you play. You have a wonderful talent. I saw in your video that you asked, "What is your favourite classical piece?" My favourite is 'Toccata and Fugue in D Minor" by Johann Sebastian Bach. I like classical music, but I also like all other types of music too. What I choose to listen to depends entirely on my mood. I appreciate instrumental pieces, but I also appreciate vocal pieces. One of your videos that I revisit often is "Hallelujah". It is the best of both worlds - piano and vocal. Whatever you post, I will watch. The most important thing is that you do whatever makes you happy. Play what makes you happy. Best wishes to you and your family.
Beautifully played Cole, thank you. I have to admit I do enjoy classical pieces, Clair De Lune being a good exmple. Another one (of many) that I really enjoy is Rachmaninoff: Op. 21 No. 5, Lilacs. Maybe you could consider working an occasional short piece into your public performances? It would make this oldie, and, many others I'm sure, very happy. Take care and enjoy your music. Phil.
Absolutely my favorite. Ive never been exposed to much classical but heard of this piece watching the Twilight series of all things. Would love to hear you play Phantom of the opera songs as well.
Beautiful Cole. We should dedicate this to the memory of Queen Elizabeth II . May she be reunited now forevermore with her Prince. Clair De Lune (poem) Your soul is a chosen landscape On which masks and Bergamasques cast enchantment as they go, Playing the lute, and dancing, and all but Sad beneath their fantasy-disguises. Singing all the while, in the minor mode, Of all-conquering love and life so kind to them They do not seem to believe in their good fortune, And their song mingles with the moonlight,
With the calm moonlight, sad and lovely, Which makes the birds dream in the trees, And the plumes of the fountains weep in ecstasy, The tall, slender plumes of the fountains among the marble sculptures.
I discovered Mussorgsky pictures at an exhibition via Emerson Lake and Palmer. Saw them perform in Cheltenham. I didn’t realize until later that it was originally written for piano.
I love to play Clair de lune want something peaceful. I had a similar experience, I studied piano for 28 years and was going for a minor degree in music at my American University, but I ws a Pre-Med major and it was too much with Organic Chemistry and all of that. So I switched my minor to Fine Arts and loved all of the Art History and Architecture as well as the music courses. I also love to play Rachmaninov and when I'm mad Grieg's A Minor. Do you play Debussy's Sunken Cathedral? I have never learned it, but one of my teacher's students played it at our recital once and I was enthralled.
Hi Cole, really good on playing. Question for you, when you were a intermediate player which songs did you play? Also keep up with accomplishing your dreams!!!
One moor thing the cook in the back only says "sure doll" to the waitress. Would you be willing to play him in the first episode of magic cafey for me ? If so tell them in a note with the disks envelope that I would appreciate it . Thank you
Floyd Cramer has quite a few songs I like. I am more of a fan of Sousa style of marches. I believe you tried the "1812 Overture" during a live stream, it came out better than I expected. One piano just can't quite do it proper. If you had access to a big grand pipe organ that would be a different story. Who says you can't do jazz on one of those? Yes I watch the Scott Brothers.
Cole, quite brilliant! I think this deserved playing on your piano at home, where there are no noise distractions? Chi, why do I feel that you are not processing as many videos as you might? I feel deprived and rather depressed. I may have to have words with Cole about you..
I love your music video playing the piano on UA-cam keep it up you are amazing player on the piano I hopeing you can play nothing going change my love for you or play river flows in you for me on the next video you do thank you.
