I just left a message a few moments ago about progress I’ve made this year. I read your message and began crying. I have three boys, 36, 31 & 26, and physically they are a mess. They didn’t have me as an example. I pray I have permanently turned the corner and can now be an inspiration. Thanks for your message
I'm a former track & field athlete, jumper/sprinter. Just turned 42. I'm a 5 year survivor of a stage IV cancer Lance Armstrong style. I've had my right nut cut off, my head cut open twice to remove masses, gamma radiation was beamed across the back of my skull and I was poised nearly to death by toxic chemo drugs. Upon discharge from the hospital, I weighed 140lbs at 6' and got winded walking up a flight of stairs. I'm up to 163lbs, 10-12% BF, I can do 13 very strict pull ups, and when I'm out road biking I burn past teenagers. So I don't want to hear your bullshit excuses. The best advice I can give regarding training as you age is you have to train smarter. Listen to your body, it will tell you what you can and can't do. The progressive overload should be very gradual. Setting goals is nice, but trying to achieve a 500lb bench and all that stuff shouldn't be a priority anymore. Staying overall healthy and just feeling good should be the primary goal from here to the end.
Congratulations to you as a survivor and fighter. I'm an 11 year survivor of stage IV inoperable throat cancer, so I know very well the grueling chemo and radiation treatments involved with late stage cancer. I went from 187 to 150 at 6' tall. To this day, it is still a struggle to gain weight! On a good day I am maybe 165-167 ... usually 162 or a little less. I am thankful to God for saving my life and giving me a second chance, when I could have been a goner. I had superb medical care at UT Southwestern Medical in Dallas ... they are as good as M.D. Anderson in Houston. Best of good health and good fortune to you!
Spot on. My Grandad was 97 when he died and still digging his own garden, his healthspan matched his lifespan and then he just expired. Your videos are inspiring. I turn 61 in 17 days. On January 1, I weighed 239 at 6’ 1.” I changed my diet to Keto and within a week I was eating One Meal A Day (OMAD). I added consistent exercise in June. I just weighed in and I am now 198. I am walking 7 miles, 4 times per week and I am doing simple body weight exercises to lay a foundation to eventually build the strength to have robust exercise sessions like you demonstrate. As I have progressed, my doctor has taken me off 3 blood pressure medicines, long-term Nexium use, Adderall and two depression meds. I have also stopped taking Aleve every morning for debilitating joint pain in my hands…the pain is gone. Great message man, I love this philosophy. In my early 20s I was scared of the prospect of turning 30 (lol imagine that), but now that I am actually 30, I realized that fear was unwarranted as I'm currently the fittest I've ever been in my life, fitter than I ever was in my 20s. Keep doing what you're doing man, you're an inspiration to us all.
I'm 34 and started working out 8 months ago for the first time in my life thinking it was all over. My body has been building muscle like crazy. Never thought it would be possible. I'm really glad I started and kept going at it.
I’m 51 and the older I get the more this makes sense. Spent all day today at a water park with my 14 year old and his buddies. We had a blast. To be able to have days like today is the reason I train and mind my diet.
would love to see you on the FitnessFaQs Podcast, an exchange of knowledge between you and Daniel would be extremely educational. Great Video as always K
I subscribed about a month ago because I liked the signal to noise ratio (very high) and the workouts really matched where my life has taken me. I'm almost 70, I survived a "widowmaker" heart attack at 64. I bounced back to set personal bests on my Concept 2 rowing machine and started doing triathlon races and winning the 50 and over group a number of times. Last fall I was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma which was a death sentence 10 years ago, but now is treatable. I decided that this year was the year to forget the racing and concentrate on staying alive. Do the cancer treatments, eat well and work on my overall fitness and well being. Simple calisthenics are working to add some muscle to my upper body and make me feel great. I've been blessed with some good genetics (other than my fair skin) and I've never struggled with my weight. I love my exercise time now, I hit it hard, I'm improving and I don't get injured. If I continue to be lucky I'll get 10-15 years of good physical health and if the cancer gets me then I'll still be happy to get as far as I can.
Philip, this is an amazing story. Stoked you beat the heart attack, and no doubt you will beat the cancer. Stay at it and keep me updated, brother. You are inspiring and many of us can learn from your example.
I am 22 and for the last 7 or so years all i did is sit infront of my PC. As a result, i was weak, had no energy, had scoliosis and non existent cardio. Been doing push-ups and pull ups 4-5 times a week and walking a lot and i am so much stronger, but more importantly - healthy now. Your channel is awesome, thanks for all the information
I've so much respect for you Mr. Boges! My workout routine improved so much because of your videos. And I completely agree with this video, instead of achieving some goal in 30 days or few weeks.. we should focus on training for life and overall general health. Good muscular body will be achieved sooner or later either way. Love your content!
Hey, I remember commenting a few years ago when you had a few hundred subs not to change. The content's still gold, and I'm glad to see how many people you've won over with it. Keep it up x
Oliver! Thank you so much for the support over the years. That means a lot, brother! Thank you for sharing your advice back then. Honestly, that type of feedback has been incredibly valuable.
Agreed, definitely keep delivering clear, simple, and practical insights. I appreciate that there’s some repetition across videos, because your subscribers aren’t here for something flashy and new, but rather for inspiration, reminders, and fresh insights that grow out of the fundamentals you preach. Thank you!
Hi. I hope you’re having a good day! I just wanted to say your content is definitely appreciated. I learned the “horse stance” because of YOU. At first I could only hold it for 17sec (haha) but I have definitely made huge improvements at it (49secs now). Thank you for the good quality info in all your videos!
Thank you, LeAndria! I greatly appreciate the kind feedback! SO stoked to hear you are enjoying the horse stance! Keep at it and you will be crushing 5 minutes before you know it!🙏
I can never get to the new kboges videos fast enough. Clear concise information on how to maximize health. Not extreme performance or something else out of reach for the majority of the population. Thank you Kboges, top tier content.
All truth. I know some crazy fit 70 and 80 year olds. I think if I incorporate K Boges’ stuff into my training routine, I’ll be one of those fit oldsters one day!
This really resonates, especially the 10-year horizon. Because I recently decided that, as I approach my 60th birthday, I'm going to be in better shape when I'm 70 than when I'm 60. For most of my life, I never would have conceived of or believed in that. But thanks to channels like yours, I now know that how we age is a choice.
You’ve slowly become one of my favourite creators on the channel, now because of these videos on top of the Jocko Willink podcast I’ve began to do callisthenics every morning, it’s taken my Jiu Jitsu to new levels and the videos never disappoints or try to sell me anything, top tier content
So true , I’m 56 and in the best shape of my adult life , 6’1 195 lbs 34 waist pants all home Calisthenics and kettle bells , pull-ups,push-ups and of course yoga . I do need to focus more on my food , that’s next project starting today
This is absolutely the truth. My grandfather in Puerto Rico is now in his 70s, but he works out in the field all day, and maintains crazy muscle for his age. His forearms and back are super ripped and he’s very lively for 70. He and my grandmother even conceived in their 50s which is unbelievable.
The mind-body duality is a socially implemented concept. You can control your body with your mind. One's mental attitude becomes more important at later stages of life. Training is mental health.
KB, I’m 50 years old, and though I’ve always been above average in terms of fitness/activity, I’ve also always been self-judgmental about my relative skinny-ness. Inspired by your keep-it-simple videos, I was able to design a program that finally stuck, and I have kept a daily exercise program (with daily record-keeping) for the last six months, which is a lifetime personal best in terms of length and consistency. Even better, I have added 15 pounds of muscle (now 160lbs @ 6-feet) and even with the added mass, my rep count in push, pull, and squats is also at a lifetime high. In other words, at 50 years old, I’m more massive and physically stronger than I have ever been in my life. I get a lot of credit for doing the work, but you get a lot of credit for the life-changing inspiration, philosophy, and program design. In contrast to the cacophony of ‘get fit quick’ content on the web, my personal mantra has been: “How *slowly* can I get fit?” I ask myself this constantly. The result is a simple and humble program that, paradoxically, got me fitter than I’ve ever been, and in just months, after decades of false starts. For those interested, here’s my program, a four-day cycle: Day 1: Single set* of push (push-ups) Day 2: Single set of legs (standard squats) Day 3: Single set of pull (pull- or chin-ups) Day 4: Rest** day (no sets allowed!) After a couple months, I was getting more capable joints and muscles, so I upgraded to: Day 1: Three sets push, one set legs, one set pull (4 minute rest between all) Day 2: Three sets legs, one set push, one set pull Day 3: Three sets pull, one set legs, one set push Day 4: Rest day (no sets allowed!) Important Notes: *Set = anything between 1 rep and reps-to-failure. Most days, I go to failure or just short of it. Some days, if I’m feeling low, I do ONE REP and call it a day (sometimes at 11:59pm). But - and this is critical - that COUNTS. It’s still on program for getting fit ‘as slowly as possible!’ **Rest day: I typically do some light movement, maybe walking 1-3 miles, or a dance class or both. Critically, reps and sets are NOT ALLOWED. It is this restraint that has kept me yearning to come back for the next 4 day cycle, rather than burning out. Rest day is the most important day of the program. And it’s perfectly on program with getting fit “as slowly as possible.” Push: Started with push-ups, now on some days I opt for dips or declined push-ups. Pull: Pull-ups or chin-ups, whatever I feel like. Legs: Started with basic squats, now on some days I do squat-to-jumps. Minimum baseline: I should say that I also am conscious about my diet (drink only water, eat real food, low carbs, high protein, little sugar), and on most days I walk 1-3 miles, or maybe a bike ride. Also, I do 5-10 minutes of joint warm-up and active stretching before any rep session. Thanks dude, literally wouldn’t have done it without you.
Awesome comment! What an inspiring plan! I’m just a couple of years behind you age-wise and have also been following a KB-inspired simple workout plan for 6 months. It’s been life changing already, and mostly because I focus on consistency and good form, and just showing up for the minimum on the days I run out of time or don’t feel up to it. I love your idea of getting fit slowly! That’s the way to go! Thanks for sharing your workout plan. It’s thought provoking, and I might borrow some of those ideas!
needed this! I am recovering from a pulled muscle and impinged shoulder from judo and I had second thoughts on training over all. We don't play because we grow old, we grow old because we don't play.
i do muay thai and had similar occurrences about 6 to 7 months ago, it was most likely a rotator cuff tear. It never healed fully and the same shoulder pop happened about 2 months after the first injury. Anyway, I'm still training and will prepare for state level games!
That's the spirit! Ligaments and tendons never fully heal due to their little bloody supply but I'm pleased to know that it didn't hold you back! I love Muay Thai and may you train at your peak for the games!!! And always be careful.
I am shift working and got two small kids. I dont have time to visit a gym/dojo 4-6x per week, like I used to with 20y. But I got time to workout at home or at work with my rings and/or some kettlebells/sandbags. Even if its just 20-30 min. Adapt and overcome.
@@Kboges Man I am so happy ! Ever since I saw your videos, I started doing these high volume body weight exercises, my athleticism has increased so much ! Brother I can't be more happy to find your channel, at 50 years old former boxer I try to keep in fit and healthy when my nephew asked to do his "research" on UA-cam first thing came to my mind is your channel, keep up the excellent work you are doing simply as you do it and excellent explanation, respect from Greece brother 👏👏👏🇬🇷(forgive me my English is not that good!!!)
My man, you are an inspiration to me. Video after video you are delivering value that is worth returning to over and over. Just hope you have a great 2023!
Thanks for the short videos. They pack so much in and I always remember them. I've learnt also that I don't have to be perfect. I just have to keep going.
Thank Jim! I agree. My viewers are constantly impressing me by their kindness and genuine interest in training. It's the coolest part of what I do. I'm incredibly grateful for them!
Thank you for being clear, concise and truthful with your content. It is so refreshing to hear and motivating because it corresponds to reality. I appreciate it!
Hey dude. Just popping in like many of the commenters here. Really appreciate your short and sweet videos. I've taken a lot from them and have started my own program based off your advice. It's liberating! Keep it up. Cheers.
I really appreciate your content and get so much support while watching you act on what you preach. Also I started your free course on making my first pull-up a month ago combined with OMAD and it works great for me for the moment. I feel my body composition changing and also I do see first results on my max reps while doing rowing sets. Can't wait to brag about it more in few months, hopefully with better results. Again thanks K boges!
Kyle, your words must be set in stone. High-value truths to keep in mind. Thanks for sharing your wisdom alongside your methods. Greetings from Brazil.
With 40 fast approaching, your channel has been the inspiration to train for LIFE! Only week two but already loving the feeling of working out each day. Thanks mate!
I've been enjoying your content a lot. I used to do barbell training, was injured/ couldn't balance it with physical work, and fell off hard years ago. Now I've got a kid and no time/ cash for the gym at the moment, and your stuff gave me the push to stop using that as an excuse to get more and more out of shape. After only a month I feel better than I have in ages, and your content definitely pushed me in the right direction. Thanks!
One life changing feature that I discovered long ago is that you don’t need a gym to stay fit. And your channel continues to emphasize that fact and help so many people escape the “gym trap”. Keep up the great work and motivation. Thanks always for passing along your passion to others. You are a great person Mr K!
Hey man. At 26 and after many years of being a lazy bum I came across you as well as others in the calisthenics world, and I'm down for it. I've only just started but I'm already doing dead hangs and progressive pushes, pulls, dips as well as squats and other leg work. It's killing me but this is just the start. I'm using muscles I didn't even know I had, so thank you. I've watched a lot of your videos and it's everything I needed, I will absolutely be back. So thank you again.
!!!!!!! I love all of your videos and messages, KBoges. I am 45, and have managed to work my way back from some wretched injuries, and now I'm doing things that were previously filed under "Those days are long gone". And I just finished my second week of your "How to increase your max pullup". Last week I accumulated 100 pullups, and this week 116. Holy smokes, that's insane volume for me. So I'm just gonna to keep going. One of the things that has resonated with me so much is your perspective or attitude on the relationship between training and living (and I'd say general well-being). At the heart of everything about my training, I am thinking about how it increases my body's capacity to do work, and how it becomes more tolerant to what the world may throw at me, and what I ask out of myself. And all of this is so I can be here longer, and do more cool, interesting stuff along the way. Thank you for all of your amazing content. I'm betting that a lot of people are finding your videos to be incredibly useful. ~ Michael
Well said, Michael! This is an awesome comment brother! Thank you for sharing. Your ideas about building capacity and tolerance is spot on. That's exactly it!
39 this year, stopped playing football (soccer) because of a wrist lig- tear but still surfing and working out. cant say that about the rest of my family members and friends who quit sport and the reason behind that was "im 30 now so getting old". i thought good luck dying then, distanced my self from that mentality and life's great. hats off to you for passing sound knowledge. you're doing a very good thing here with these short videos. all prayers and blessing to you my brother. your channel rocks.
Thank you for your videos!, I'm 53 and have been working on my flexibility, staying in a deep squat for long periods of time also long walks and am currently doing kettlebells and body weight exercises while also cutting weight. Your videos really inspire me to slow the pace and just master body control and good form. Still can't do a pull up but am very close thanks to your content. Again thanks for all your hard work!
Patrick! This is awesome, brother! I love hearing stories like this. Keep it up, take your time, and you will be the fittest 53 year old you ever meet.

So simply said, no crazy transitions or anything. Just easy to follow along for literally anyone. So well spoken
Thank you, Sean! That means a lot, brother!
I’m 51 and the older I get the more this makes sense. Spent all day today at a water park with my 14 year old and his buddies. We had a blast. To be able to have days like today is the reason I train and mind my diet.
That's exactly it, Derek!
would love to see you on the FitnessFaQs Podcast, an exchange of knowledge between you and Daniel would be extremely educational. Great Video as always K
That would be an amazing experience for me!
63 years old here. What he said is right on point!
Keep at it, my friend!🙏💪
2:21 "but you still have to try" . Couldn't agree more.
There is no other option. We get 1 shot.💪
Yes! Thank you so much for sharing! Keep me posted on your journey and stick with it!
That’s awesome to hear. Has your scoliosis got any better? I’m trying to fix my mild scoliosis.
That's exactly it, Saltiey! So happy to hear you enjoy the content!
Thank you for the support!
Thank you!
64 and in the best shape of my life.
workout and non-processed eating.
healthy career and no family!
I love it! Awesome job, Fred. You are where I'm trying to get to.💪
This is exactly why I train. Not just my personal health but to maximize my time with my loved ones. Train everyday is the key to life
well said, dude. I couldn't agree more.
Thank you, Chad! I'm happy you enjoy!
Scott, this is a great comment! So happy to hear you have taken control over your fitness and aging process! That is what it's all about!
You’ve slowly become one of my favourite creators on the channel, now because of these videos on top of the Jocko Willink podcast I’ve began to do callisthenics every morning, it’s taken my Jiu Jitsu to new levels and the videos never disappoints or try to sell me anything, top tier content
This is awesome to hear, ReefShug! Thank you for sharing and thank you for the support!🙏
So true , I’m 56 and in the best shape of my adult life , 6’1 195 lbs 34 waist pants all home Calisthenics and kettle bells , pull-ups,push-ups and of course yoga . I do need to focus more on my food , that’s next project starting today
That's my goal, Greg! Well done. I find this super inspirational!
WOW! Talk about vitality! That's amazing.
I was much older than you when I realized the same thing. Live life! I'm 57 and getting ready to marry the woman of my dreams.
Congratulations, Charles! Enjoy the wedding and your life together!
Thanks for this, man! Words to live by, with a strong message at the end! 👊
Thank you, Attention. It the whole point to it all. 💪
Really needed this, you always motivate me. Only tough part of my journey is getting the diet in check
Glad to hear it resonated, Deni! Stick to it, get the diet dialed and you will be good to go!
Oh yes the diet, although being a veggie mines pretty good it’s the weekend “social beer” 🙁.
The mind-body duality is a socially implemented concept. You can control your body with your mind. One's mental attitude becomes more important at later stages of life. Training is mental health.
Some serious wisdom right here!🙏
Always a pleasure to see an upload from you. Thanks for the great content!
Thank you for the kind words and support, David!
For those interested, here’s my program, a four-day cycle:
Day 1: Single set* of push (push-ups)
Day 2: Single set of legs (standard squats)
Day 3: Single set of pull (pull- or chin-ups)
Day 4: Rest** day (no sets allowed!)
After a couple months, I was getting more capable joints and muscles, so I upgraded to:
Day 1: Three sets push, one set legs, one set pull (4 minute rest between all)
Day 2: Three sets legs, one set push, one set pull
Day 3: Three sets pull, one set legs, one set push
Day 4: Rest day (no sets allowed!)
Important Notes:
*Set = anything between 1 rep and reps-to-failure. Most days, I go to failure or just short of it. Some days, if I’m feeling low, I do ONE REP and call it a day (sometimes at 11:59pm). But - and this is critical - that COUNTS. It’s still on program for getting fit ‘as slowly as possible!’
**Rest day: I typically do some light movement, maybe walking 1-3 miles, or a dance class or both. Critically, reps and sets are NOT ALLOWED. It is this restraint that has kept me yearning to come back for the next 4 day cycle, rather than burning out. Rest day is the most important day of the program. And it’s perfectly on program with getting fit “as slowly as possible.”
Push: Started with push-ups, now on some days I opt for dips or declined push-ups.
Pull: Pull-ups or chin-ups, whatever I feel like.
Legs: Started with basic squats, now on some days I do squat-to-jumps.
Minimum baseline:
I should say that I also am conscious about my diet (drink only water, eat real food, low carbs, high protein, little sugar), and on most days I walk 1-3 miles, or maybe a bike ride.
Exactly, Brandon! Good luck on your recovery, and get back to training as soon as you can.
i do muay thai and had similar occurrences about 6 to 7 months ago, it was most likely a rotator cuff tear.
@@brandoncarvalho9440 same goes for you. Hey, we got this man!
I am shift working and got two small kids. I dont have time to visit a gym/dojo 4-6x per week, like I used to with 20y. But I got time to workout at home or at work with my rings and/or some kettlebells/sandbags. Even if its just 20-30 min. Adapt and overcome.
100%. Exactly right. That’s what you’ve got to do brother.

Hey dude. Just popping in like many of the commenters here. Really appreciate your short and sweet videos. I've taken a lot from them and have started my own program based off your advice. It's liberating! Keep it up. Cheers.
I love hearing this, Adam! So stoked you have found the content useful and enjoyable.
Thank you for the support!
Man I love your channel more and more each time I watch. I like your style and philosophy.
Man this is so cool to hear! I really appreciate that! Thank you for watching, and if you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out.

This was the most beautiful, motivating, realistic message anyone could get right now.
So happy you enjoyed it! Thank you for the support!
So powerful message!
With 40 fast approaching, your channel has been the inspiration to train for LIFE! Only week two but already loving the feeling of working out each day. Thanks mate!
I love it, Mick! Thank you for sharing. Keep me updated on your journey!
Thanks!
This is amazing to hear! So happy you found a good habit to pick up. Keep at it, my friend. It's going to serve you well.
Beautifully said mate!!!
Great message, so well articulated!
Thank you, Declan!
One life changing feature that I discovered long ago is that you don’t need a gym to stay fit. And your channel continues to emphasize that fact and help so many people escape the “gym trap”. Keep up the great work and motivation. Thanks always for passing along your passion to others. You are a great person Mr K!
Thank you so much for such kind feedback. I truly appreciate it. 💪
Thank you for this affirmation! :)
My pleasure, Luis!
Thanks coach. Wise words. Hit me at the right time.
Glad it found you when it did!
Thank you fo the support!

Thanks Brotha
My pleasure, Khan! Thank you.
Incredibly important message. Thank you.
Thank you, Steve!
Another brilliant tell it like it is video. Well said as always Sir. As a 55 year old guy I appreciate your frankness.
Thank you, Carl!
Very nice message n advice man!! Have a blessed day!
Thank you, Carlos. You as well!
What a great message, brother! Thank you for this. 🙏
What makes Mr. Boges exceptional are contents like this. Other Fitness Content Creators do not even talk about this side of fitness. Thank you, Mr. Boges for sharing your knowledge. You deserve more and I know they'll come.
Thank you, maj!

I'm glad it found you, Ascender!
I like the way you present your knowledge in a way that’s applicable to all people rather than targeting a niche in fitness. Exercise is physiological hygiene.keep up the great work
