I really like the voice for Nosk being surprisingly calm. As mountrous as it is, Nosk has a high chance of being extremely smart as it reads its victims's minds and looks for the easiest way to lure them in, so it being capable of speech makes sense.
Little fun fact: the reason why Nosk impersonates the player is because the vessel you play as has no memory of its tragic origins and little ability to actually formulate complex thoughts or feelings, so when Nosk, a predator able to read minds and impersonate loved ones (especially ones thought to be deceased), tries to read the vessel that's more hollow than others, it can't find anything and it confuses the hell out of it, so it just takes on the form of its prey.
@@owenmezzarobba8653 My assumption is more that the Godseekers actually know the connection to Hornet - so Nosk manages to take that info into account, being able to read the mind of the godseekers considering it is a stronger form (even tho it's boss-wise just as weak)

The scariest thing about this thing is even with ALL the lore about Hollownest, we aren't given a concrete answer on what it is. A mutant predator? A hunter made by the Radiance? Another of the Pale King's experiments? No answers, just screeching in the dark...
Nosk can't be created by the Pale King as he isn't made out of Void, he dies like most infected creatures. MADE by the Radiance also can't be, the Radiance created the Moths (when they die they turn into Dreamcatcher-particles) and the Infection itself. Nosk is an infected creature just like most enemies and bosses. Although he is a shapeshifter, so maybe this spider form isn't even his true look, I mean Winged Nosk exists. While yes his main form of attack (besides running) is Infection, the same is true for the Mawleks, they probably didn't always attack by spitting Infection and had some other way of hunting before getting infected.
The theory that makes the most sense is that Nosk is a giant Corpse Creeper that can read minds and who studies his prey. As you can see, in the Nosk arena there are other dead corpses and some vessels too. He uses them to trap his prey and kill it. I honestly think Corpse Creepers are scarier than Nosk since they literally jumpscare you while when you're following Nosk you understand immediately that it's a trap, and if you dreamnail the dead corpses on the ground while following they also talk about traps. Corpse Creepers are giant spiders inside small bodies and that scares me out a lot
Knowing that Nosk can somehow dig into your memories to find the ones you cherish most to mimic and use against you; and seeing how many discarded vessels are strung up in its lair, I have to wonder if Nosk ever imitated the Pale King himself. It's horrifying to imagine a Vessel, discarded for feeling emotions, thinking it's found a way out, thinking that its father has returned for it, only to step into the waiting jaws of a monster
@@astroman123-n3d I suspect Nosk doesn't actually eat its prey, but more sucks out their insides. A monster that was made to defend the lock on a world ending force, designed to be unkillable, but so smart it is uncontrollable and dangerous.
It makes more sense because, after we defeat nosk, we get some reward. So in a way, nosk was protecting something. So it means that part of it's original purpose to protect something (rather then someone) is still there. (About the corpses, i guess he takes prides in what he's doing? Also: Monomon knew about the Kings plan and even helped it, so she also could prepare the best protection (Building the glass tank, creating Uumuu, telling Quirrel to take the mask and leave) as she had the most time. Lurien probably already had the Watcher Knights as guards before becoming a Dreamer. I think Hera, as queen of Deepnest just has her spiders and weavers as guards. Those things that deal 2 masks of damage are probably her main protection. Also Hornet could have protected her, so she never needed any special guard.
That's an interesting theory but Herrah does have Guardians, key emphasis on the plural. The stalking devouts, worshippers of Herrah The Beast. From what we know she was also a queen, which unlike Lurien (Who was just a common bug, even if aristocratic, the Pale King likely installed the watcher knights but not much else) and Monomon (Doesn't have virtually any defense outside of Uumuu, Quirrel, and the added seals put over herself), Herrah has royal status. Even if they weren't infected, knowing you're trespassing and could harm the queen, all of Deepnest would be after you and already are, so in conclusion Herrah doesn't have a singular guardian, she's got a whole legion at her disposal defending her.
this is my first actual exposure to hollow knight and I did not expect it to be this epic. it takes the enemy spider theme of muffet and makes it so much more aggressive, stronger, and intimidating. I love it
My favorite boss is sure a way to get a first exposure to Hollow Knight haha It’s a really cool game! The lore and story are beautifully tragic. I recommend it
Nosk is my favorite boss and second-favorite song in the game, so this is just pure ear candy. I generally see it as more cunning mimic than sadistic hunter, but this cover still absolutely captures the essense of the fight. Especially love the victim's voices descending into screams and telling the Knight to run, excellent addition.
So, first listen, and my impression is that it’s a very well put together song. The calm, sadistic tone of Nosk’s voice as it taunts the vessel is chilling in a fantastic way. Maybe not something I’d listen to often, but definitely a well thought out and well executed song that I’ll be coming back to at some point.
@captainblue5096 eh, I mean you could argue that nosk could know, considering nosk is a mind reading species, and he's killed vessels before, so you could argue its totally possible he'd know about it, but also I Just like how it sounds
Personally I've never saw Nosk as a creature capable of speaking, but as a terrifying creature who hunts the unsuspecting prey. And yet, Ian's voice managed to reconsider it. It fits incredibly well!
I really like the art for Nosk; in the boss fight itself, Nosk just looks like a beast with the knight’s disguise hanging off. Then with the artist’s use of scale and having Nosk face from the front rather than a sideways glance, the fallen knight costume becomes eyes and the mandibles of the spider
I loved that!! I'm prepary for a scary DnD campaign and literally just made a creepy Archfey patron for one of my players, a faceless moth man made of bone, with domain over blood and predators, and this is literally perfect for him!
This absolute THING having such an elegant voice is chilling as hell, then the chorus hit so hard I doubled over like someone kicked me in the groin, cracking stuff!
Normally when i listen to a really good song on this channel i don't like it, leave for like a day, realize i'm still thinking about it, and then when i come back i love it. That was bit my experience this time, i just loved it immediately
Plus at 2:38 you can find the other half of their screams when they realise they are locked in and nosk reveals itself you can hear one of the voices say "OH GOD NO"
Yes more HK!! btw, did you know Nosk read his prey's mind to determine what to transform into? He probalbly transformin the kight because he can't read his mind, which doesn't exist.
Imo Nosk probably turns into the Knight to lure them into thinking they found another vessel like them, because Nosk commonly transforms into a loved one of its prey and in the Winged Nosk fight it turns into Hornet, showing that the Knight can form bonds with others
For real, Nosk had much more potantiel to be much better boss. For example when you get to his half health they could add a chase scene where you run and Nosk trys to catch you.
@@disaster_cat yeah, when i frist fought him and died i said "dude, this thing is terrifying and i love it. İ wonder if it chasees me middle or end of the fight"
An average looking. In this case. I think a bug...? I'm not exactly an expert on Hollow Knight. But an average looking bug transformed into a merciless, blood thirsty predator spider creature? ... Actually, now that I reread that, it's pretty chilling.
@@Frost_dj_speakerman Well in this case its a vessel, but yeah. Nosk takes the form of something its prey cares about by reading their mind. At this point the Knight doesn’t have anything/one it cares about and thus after reading its mind Nosk just become the Knight. Interestingly, winged nosk has the form of Hornet
Honestly, that part is just incredible. NOSK THE BEAST OF THE SHADOWS BANE OF THE SOUL FIEND OF THE CORPSE MASK CREATURE OF WOE Goes so hard they had to extend the Mohs scale past diamond for it
I like this boss because of its simplicity. It doesnt have any lore. it doesnt have a huge reason to exist or fight you,its a predator, its hungry and you just walked into its lair. It wont cry if you kill it or celebrate it kills you,its an animal and it wants you gone.
While there’s no in depth backstory or anything, I’d say the hunting mechanism it uses is enough to qualify as lore. It takes the faces of its victim’s loved ones to lure them in and kill them. This being said, the vessel doesn’t have memories of loved ones. It’s an empty soldier meant to contain the infection. So instead of taking those memories for its guise, it takes the only face it can. Yours.
@@minotaurgaming5354I mean there’s that small skele friend he has from hungry knight. But there’s only like one character who knows about the little friend

Easily one of my favorite songs you guys have done. Ian’s performance is absolutely amazing and intimidating and is perfect for Nosk. The past victims as a chorus is also a nice touch The video itself, the art is great as always. With the gameplay I’m kind of glad it’s not hitless. I feel like this helps add some intimidation and danger to Nosk and pairs well with the intimidation Ian’s performance brought
This may just be recently bias, but this song for the hollow knight musical has such a visceral sound that I love about it, easily one of my favorite songs of the hollow knight collection.
A beast that sings when intends to devour you and leave your empty body as a trophy is not an animal that lives by insticts to survive, no matter how deadly, but truly a monster. And then we have a winged variant with Hornet as its head...
Absolute banger for one of my favorite Hollow Knight characters! Ian's voice is honestly so good for Nosk. I like the fun little reference to the Little Miss Muffet poem
this is quite interesting! I always thought of nosk as a predator with no thought but the instinct to kill. probably because he has a giant blob of infection in his chest. but I never thought of it as someone who enjoys striking fear into the hearts of its prey. this is probably not cannon because the whole infection thing but still it's a really good idea! great job with the lyrics!
Nosk actively looks into its prey's mind to look for the right form to lure them in (usually loved ones like Hornet for the Knight), so it's likely that it's actually really smart
@@Roman-ik3cf maybe but maybe it doen't really control its intelligence. like it's a puppet for the radiance. because it doesn't make sense for it to be infected AND be intelligent. iy's pretty hard to know since in our encounter with it it mimics the knight and therefore, doesn't have any thoughts since the knight doesn't have any too
@@mustafaipek8990 Tbh he could've predated the infection Also, the infection doesn't remove its victim's intelligence totally, it's basically Radiance spoon-feeding them thoughts corrupting their dreams (see Elder Hu, Soul Master, False Knight and The Hollow Knight)
@@mustafaipek8990the thing about Nosk is that the infection really doesn’t seem to have infected the predator much, sure it’s one of the enemies who used it’s form of infection attacks frequently, but it’s attack pattern seems to have remained the same going off of how many corpses are in it’s arena.
@@mustafaipek8990the radiance is more like a hive mind that corrupts you if you try to resist which is why some creatures look more corrupted than others if you take on the infection willingly like the mantis lord that became the traitor lord did you essentially just become stronger with no issues other than the radiance in your head
One of my favorite lines is “You’re starting to slow/your soul exhausts.” While the first line is taunting you that Nosk is beginning to catch up to you because you’re getting tired, the second line at first seems like the same thing. But when you hear Nosk say that second line, it feels closer to an acknowledgement on Nosk’s part that you are in fact, beginning to exhaust your resources. I think that acknowledgement is scarier than it taunting you again, because it’s more serious.
I think an ultimate goal would be to create a byte for every boss fight in the game. But i think a byte of Pure Vessel would be amazing, maybe you could do a tradition like Songvember, on the week surrounding the hollow Knight anniversary release like 3 or 4 boss song bytes that you poared your heart and soul into
I always liked his boss fight despite how easy it is mainly due to the buildup being so amazing Speaking of amazing to see that you made another hollow night lyric video 💚
HOLY SHIT THIS WAS SO SICK!!!!!! AAAH I was always thinking about how you might do nosks theme but aaaaaah this was so good!!!! I love this SO much you have no idea
It occurs to me Nosk is actually hampered by the infection. Without it, the Spider Mimic could have outwitted and killed HN like he did with the other vessels.
It is my personal belief that Nosks are creatures who came from void (like they evolve around void leading to them being the way they are) but the presence of the infection stops them from using their abilities and have to rely on maskmaker for their tools
I understand that some character has to be singing the song for the lyrics but I find the idea of the Nosk being a monster incapable of speaking an intriguing idea. The other many bug characters speaking fits in perfectly. But for Nosk? Definitely fits better if it can't speak to hone in how much of a predator it is.
You’re still giving us covers from hollow knight even to this day?? You spoil us, thanks for the early Christmas gift! Oh the collective voices in between the song goes well, made to reflect the previous victims of Nosk, and the backup vocals with Nosk’s own lyrics, this song is so good.

this is my first actual exposure to hollow knight and I did not expect it to be this epic. it takes the enemy spider theme of muffet and makes it so much more aggressive, stronger, and intimidating. I love it
My favorite boss is sure a way to get a first exposure to Hollow Knight haha
It’s a really cool game!
1:15 I wish nosk had said "child of wyrm" but other than that I love this!
Ooh that’s pretty good
I mean I think Nosk of all bugs would be one of the least knowledgeable of the Knight’s parentage
2:07 a reference to Nosk's title in Godhome
@@Robin_Glorb I know right it’s so sick that they included this detail
This absolute THING having such an elegant voice is chilling as hell, then the chorus hit so hard I doubled over like someone kicked me in the groin, cracking stuff!
Nosk is the exact thing I thought would run after me when I turned off the light in the childhood
Normally when i listen to a really good song on this channel i don't like it, leave for like a day, realize i'm still thinking about it, and then when i come back i love it. That was bit my experience this time, i just loved it immediately
That’s actually my exact experience on this channel I’m so glad I’m not alone on this (also I agree with this song in particular)
1:06 god i just realized that these are the voices of victems finding nosk before being devoured
And that the scream at the end is the stalking devout trying to run
Plus at 2:38 you can find the other half of their screams when they realise they are locked in and nosk reveals itself you can hear one of the voices say "OH GOD NO"
@Zoro3Swordstyle365 ThAT's nOt scArY at ALl
Yes more HK!!
btw, did you know Nosk read his prey's mind to determine what to transform into?
He probalbly transformin the kight because he can't read his mind, which doesn't exist.
Imo Nosk probably turns into the Knight to lure them into thinking they found another vessel like them, because Nosk commonly transforms into a loved one of its prey and in the Winged Nosk fight it turns into Hornet, showing that the Knight can form bonds with others
Hot Take: Nosk is actually a good boss, yes his hit-box is buggy but his lore and design are way better.
For real, Nosk had much more potantiel to be much better boss. For example when you get to his half health they could add a chase scene where you run and Nosk trys to catch you.
@@im_bored289 Bro that would be fucking TERRIFYING and I would be HERE for it
@@disaster_cat yeah, when i frist fought him and died i said "dude, this thing is terrifying and i love it. İ wonder if it chasees me middle or end of the fight"
Has anyone else thought how chilling and perfect the concept of nosk would be for like a horror story/movie?
YES.
An average looking. In this case. I think a bug...? I'm not exactly an expert on Hollow Knight. But an average looking bug transformed into a merciless, blood thirsty predator spider creature?
...
Actually, now that I reread that, it's pretty chilling.
one of the monsters in the film "9" was based on a similar concept, and it was very creepy
@@filipporapetti9354OH HELL NO. NOT THE TRAUMA AGAIN ! PLEASE...
@@Frost_dj_speakerman
Well in this case its a vessel, but yeah.
Nosk takes the form of something its prey cares about by reading their mind. At this point the Knight doesn’t have anything/one it cares about and thus after reading its mind Nosk just become the Knight. Interestingly, winged nosk has the form of Hornet
This song hit SO HARD. I got literal chills while listening to it. It perfectly captures the creepyness of the fight
The references to the little miss muppet nursery rhyme make it soooooo much creepier!!
"Fiend of the corpse mask" goes HARD.
Honestly, that part is just incredible.
NOSK
THE BEAST OF THE SHADOWS
BANE OF THE SOUL
FIEND OF THE CORPSE MASK
CREATURE OF WOE
Goes so hard they had to extend the Mohs scale past diamond for it
@@darthcloakedguy9726 I'm literally downloading the song just for that part
*I WAS IN AN AMBULANCE WHEN THIS CAME OUT, LET"S GOOOOOOO!!!!!!*
This has become a new favorite of mine
Hit the horror factor perfectly. emphasises that this fight is supposed to represent the fear the player has built up through all of deepnest
Yours.
@minotaurgaming5354 i know. But still, its such simple lore and its so compelling.
@ that’s the cool thing, though. Lore doesn’t have to be super complex or convoluted to be fascinating.
@@minotaurgaming5354I mean there’s that small skele friend he has from hungry knight. But there’s only like one character who knows about the little friend
I adore how his voice changes to represent how Nosk mimics his prey.
Great music😃
"Fiend of the corpse mask" goes *hard*
It's a really good term
@MaxanArchyRandomXenic , this song is literally how I feel lurking to the toilet in the middle of the night, scaring all demons
Even satan fears me at this point...
I enjoy how the voice is calm and sadistic, like an intelligent hunter who is enjoying the hunt, a bit too much.
Easily one of my favorite songs you guys have done. Ian’s performance is absolutely amazing and intimidating and is perfect for Nosk. The past victims as a chorus is also a nice touch
The video itself, the art is great as always.
I could have sworn i heard dialogue from Nosk’s previous victims, and a few moments after their screams…
That’s awesome!! 😼 This is very cool!
God's you made Nosk even more scary.
Absolute banger for one of my favorite Hollow Knight characters! Ian's voice is honestly so good for Nosk. I like the fun little reference to the Little Miss Muffet poem
Nosk doesn't realize that he isn't the hunter here
Nothing makes a song sung by a tactiful shapeshifting predator better than the screams of its victims!
this is quite interesting!
@@Roman-ik3cf maybe but maybe it doen't really control its intelligence. like it's a puppet for the radiance. because it doesn't make sense for it to be infected AND be intelligent. iy's pretty hard to know since in our encounter with it it mimics the knight and therefore, doesn't have any thoughts since the knight doesn't have any too
@@mustafaipek8990 Tbh he could've predated the infection
Also, the infection doesn't remove its victim's intelligence totally, it's basically Radiance spoon-feeding them thoughts corrupting their dreams (see Elder Hu, Soul Master, False Knight and The Hollow Knight)
Dang, vessel went so low they ended up in austrailia. O:
FINALLY, MY FAVORITE BOSS GETS A SONG LETS GOOOOOO-
Half expected the description to say “I did it, there fine, now stop asking for it” lol
Bro the screaming of all the people Nosk has killed gives me chills
a hollow knight song that isnt apart of songvember or songtober is a great day
Pretty awesome! I must say, this is a faithful and magnificent representation of me versus my bathroom's spider.
Never felt so well represented!
A hollow knight byte after so long? Does this mean we are getting silksong?
One of my favorite lines is “You’re starting to slow/your soul exhausts.” While the first line is taunting you that Nosk is beginning to catch up to you because you’re getting tired, the second line at first seems like the same thing.
But when you hear Nosk say that second line, it feels closer to an acknowledgement on Nosk’s part that you are in fact, beginning to exhaust your resources. I think that acknowledgement is scarier than it taunting you again, because it’s more serious.
Nosk: Every predator must dine tonight-
The Knight: Waiter, one more egg yolk spider, please!
I think an ultimate goal would be to create a byte for every boss fight in the game. But i think a byte of Pure Vessel would be amazing, maybe you could do a tradition like Songvember, on the week surrounding the hollow Knight anniversary release like 3 or 4 boss song bytes that you poared your heart and soul into
The music is a banger like always, but I can't help but die a little more inside every time the knight gets hit by Nosk in a completely avoidable way.
You see... by playing poorly MOTI is conditioning you and new players to think "I can do better!" and then buy the game
Ingenious really.
Horrifying gross creature, this one. THIS is why I don't go to deepnest often. Not worth the torment of mimic bugs!!
I so hope this gets an hour version
Right click and press 'Loop'
Very good song, liked this one a lot. I’m a sucker for dark oppressive music and this scratched that itch for me, keep up the great work MOTI team!
I always liked his boss fight despite how easy it is mainly due to the buildup being so amazing
Speaking of amazing to see that you made another hollow night lyric video 💚
At first I struggled so hard with this fight then I found out you can just stick close to either one of the walls and upwards slash...
HOLY SHIT THIS WAS SO SICK!!!!!! AAAH I was always thinking about how you might do nosks theme but aaaaaah this was so good!!!! I love this SO much you have no idea
Loving the voice direction for this!
SPIDER MIMIC SPIDER MIMIC SPOOKY SCARY SPIDER MIMIC
It occurs to me Nosk is actually hampered by the infection. Without it, the Spider Mimic could have outwitted and killed HN like he did with the other vessels.
Are you sure? He probably was infected when he killed the others
Personally my theory is that he ate someone who was infected
It is my personal belief that Nosks are creatures who came from void (like they evolve around void leading to them being the way they are) but the presence of the infection stops them from using their abilities and have to rely on maskmaker for their tools
Yay, more Hollow Knight! I mean, it’s the psychological horror boss, and you made it thirty times more terrifying, but it’s so good!
YAYYY NOSK!!!! I wonder if we’ll ever get Soulmaster/ Soul Sanctum… it always sounded so cool and gloomy
God I hope so, it’s such an underrated track
I assume the spider body is part of his true form, since he also has it when mimicking Hornet. I wonder what his real face looks like
My personal idea is that he doesn't have a face, it's just a pure black spider-like head, hence the Hall of Gods title "God of the Faceless".
adding on to that, its name is probably a contraction of No-Mask
I don't believe a shapeshifter has a true form.
But... We even had the hollow knight and abandoned child sing...???
Honestly Nosk feels like the type of monster capable of speech but prefers screeching because it's scarier
I don't know what I just watched but I feel like my life is better after hearing it
You’re still giving us covers from hollow knight even to this day?? You spoil us, thanks for the early Christmas gift!
Oh the collective voices in between the song goes well, made to reflect the previous victims of Nosk, and the backup vocals with Nosk’s own lyrics, this song is so good.
It do be lovely
I always thought of nosk as a wild animal. But I really love the song.
This is the ACTUAL Australian Anthem

The funniest thing to do would be to make the song backwards, since Nosk is an upside down vessel.
But actually putting effort into it was better
Such an awesome song for a boss that can be defeated by standing next to the ledge
Me: Spooder?! Nope! No thanks! No! No, no, no, nononono, nnno!
Nosk: I'm guarding a piece of Pale Ore.
Me: I'm not trapped in here with you... You're trapped in here with me!
Wait a minute,i never think of the mask as a face and fangs,it make so much sense now 0:45
Another banger from you and your team!
I honestly didn't expect a Nosk song due to 'em being more like an animal if my memory serves me right, but this is a pleasant surprise nonetheless.
Love my favourite spider mimic!
Wow I didn’t know I needed this, awesome i love it! I like how you went slow and seductive as opposed to making the lyrics super fast. It kinda reminds me of The Cure’s Lullaby. You did a good job.
That's one HELL of a voice
2:06 everyones too caught up in the godhome title to realize that he said "your soul exhausts" as the knight ran out of soul
