This might be incorrect. Break-Fast, is the act of 'breaking' the night's fasting' Hence, it should be 'break-fast' not fest. Right? According to the etymology of the word.
Interestingly enough, in the South of the United States, in rural areas, it can sound like the word was originally intended to.

I don't know why is breakfast pronounced brack-fist and not break fast? The word has break and fast in there. So breakfast in one word is pronounced brack-fist? I don't get it.

Why does it seem it is so difficult for people to actually read, BREAK is NOT BRECK.
And FAST is NOT FUSS. In that case the movie FAST & FURIOUS should now be called,
FUSS and furious. And no longer can you BREAK your leg, now you will BRECK your leg.

Breakfast isn't a compound word, and thus, your reasoning simply doesn't apply. Breakfast is one word, not a combination of break and fast. The word has existed for so long that it actually predates modern pronunciations, that's why it's a 'special' word. Why don't you calm down a bit?

@@kerokero_furogu Breakfast is a compound word, it means ending your nightly fast. It's been in use since the 15th century. Before that it was a different word in Old English. 😊

The'b' has to be pronounced. How else does one get the 'B' RECK or 'B' RAKE sound?

that's not true! it's break-fast (break fast; two words)! it's called "break-fast" because you're breaking your fast. it's the most important meal of the day because you're breaking a fast!
