Makin has been amazing in recent times. He's taken his level to the top 10 for sure. Another person who impresses me MI is declan James both making and James are the guys to lookout in the near future
Makin has a very sold shots and an excellent stamina.... I think he only needs to develop more his kill balls skills and to be more deceptive.... If these two things have been developed, with no doubts he will be in the top 3
You can't compare fitness between squash and tennis because the demands on the body are different. Are you honestly going to claim that Federer or Nadal or Jokovich are less fit than ElShorbagy or Momen or Farag? The pace is faster, but you don't have squash matches lasting 3 or 4 hours.
Ese Holmes what you say is right about different demands on the body but therein is the arguably greater demand for better fitness in top level squash. Squash has many more variables in movement like lunges, forward, backward movements and lateral movement. Tennis on the whole demands mainly lateral movements, occasional front sprints but exceedingly rare backward movements. I would argue that tennis has 3-4 hour matches because there are so many mini rest breaks between points, games and when waiting for other people to fetch and hand you your balls or waiting for opponent to second serve etc. I’m being facetious of course but I play both games and to be brutally honest, squash definitely requires a higher degree of fitness at competition. I’m sure someone like Nadal would make a world grade squash player but you have to pay credit where it’s due whether it’s the socially acceptable thing to say or not.
well I'm pretty sure the fed is close to top level squash ... but ... i play both games too ... squash requires greater fitness and strength in the legs ... tennis though is more gruelling on the upper body ... and it feels harder on ur feet ... you just feel weary after a long hard game of tennis ... esp on a hard court ... but squash just kills you at that moment .. tennis is like standing up all day at assembly
Player like Makin come and go in bunches. Main thing is being consistent and performing year after year. Makin is good but I cant stand the cocky behaviour of players. And we have a bunch of those players in this new breed of players.
I'm not so sure they are being biased. Momen is world number 4 and the Qatarian audience are going nuts every time he wins a rally. Makin is world number 30 and taking it to him, pushing him all the way and there aren't many players that can match physicality with Momen, yet the audience are noticeably quiet when Makin wins a rally. Pretty sure that's what they were getting at.
Makin using too much energy instead of brain. Should drop and make the ball tight during half court. Momen's game too predictable. Recoveries from both players very good. I wonder our nationals Malaysian player can do the same in PSA series platinum, gold or silver. Our best hope just SRAM or locals tournament. Poor ending to Nicol David era especially for men's .

Makin is looking amazing for the future
There are several rallyes that could be in the rally of the year compilation already :)

Has anyone researched how much fitter a top squash player is compared to a top tennis player? The pace these guys are playing at is superhuman.

PSA SquashTV can u post more videos of Makin?
Is it me or is the sound a smidgeon too late?
Hmmm strange, the source video has no issues, might be a UA-cam issue :/
Derek Momen is my favourite squash player
Is that Tarek Momen's uncle?
PSA SQUASHTV yes, he’s doing great this year
LOL!! @@squashtv
Who got Makin mad?? He’s been going off
Makin has a solid front hand! Once his back hand catches up you will be looking at a future No. 1

The audio is lagging behind the video
I had the same problem
Audio synch out
Why so biased the commentators? People should be cheering Makin effort instead of Momen who made the point? Come on!
