WOW! That was amazing squash. Both Gaultier and Mathew were at the top of their game at matchball, inch perfect. And you can feel the intensity of the match a mile away.
I know that it looks like Nick's complaining alot, but y'gotta remember that these guys do this for a living. This is their livelihood and this is how they put food on the dinner table. From what i've seen so far Nick's actually not that bad on court attitude-wise, just that this match he seems a little pissy..
Its rare you find a gentleman on the court. As a U17 squash player it's not very often I find someone who won;t complain about the point. I love squash but a lot of the people who play it are spoiled.
Nah, it was purely down to safety. Gaultier slipped and was in the general flight path the ball would have taken. Mathew was there and ready to play the ball but held back because of the slip. Let ball.
Krittapat Pranich Constantly complaining about the referee's decisions and whining whenever they don't go your way is actually more like being a bad loser.
I'm glad matthew lost that game. His sportsmanship is wanting. He obviously uses any advantage possible and that includes mind games on gaultier and the umpire, intending to upset gaultier and pressuring the referee on calls. Sure its within the rules but boy does he need a lesson in honour and respect. If he were on a sinking ship, I'm sure he'd be the last one anyone would want to save if they had a choice.
Some great squash but they both behave like a couple of surly teenagers which is a bit unnecessary. Mind you I have watched some of Jansher's matches recently on youtube and he was a man that didn't mind taking an unnecessary let.
Yeah, if this is going to be an Olympic sport, I think the "Britishness" of this game needs to be toned down a bit; the arguing with the ref, the walking around the court, the delays of play, the wiping... Does not make for good Olympic television viewing
it sucks when players "argue" every single call, especially in squash, where momentum is so important. Just ruins flow. I agree. Matthew is a bit of an ass.
Greg is a truly awesome talent. I do not like Matthew at all. If he would just shut the fuck up and knuckle down he would already be a better player. So stroppy..it's pathetic!
The shot at 17.05 was most certainly not a let. Matthews just didn't like the position he was in and as he had already been a little bitch this game, as in most games, the referee gave him the benefit of the doubt. Gaultier was nowhere near him.
I agree with Timbo. Great vid quality but poor refereeing and sportsmanship on behalf of the players made the game very unwatchable. I am a keen player and watcher but can't stand this kind of sportsmanship at any level.
Agreed. Never was a good reason for Nick to open the door and dispute a ball the ref had already called good. "I swear on everything I own" is just drama for dram's sake and any player knows the ref will not change his mind so this deserved a CW or CS for timewasting.
Wow, brilliant camera angle and clarity. Squash TV should do it like this. Thanks for posting!
Too many let given to Matthew. Then could the refs uses the video ? For finals, this should be considered. Smart sport use it.
💯
Matthew: "I swear on everything I've got the ball was down".
Quite a statement given it was a blatant winner from Gaultier!
I have not seen 2013 footage of such clarity on official PSA channel
This is the best squash footage i have ever seen on utube. thank u for the upload

Is referee from UK? 2 lets minimum given to babyboy Matthew...

Best ever heated match....,,,both players showed awwsomeeee play.....nick got tired to loose the match in the end
Great angle
Gaultier's cross-court width was phenomenal in this match.
i'd love to see these guys play with each other at the gym no refs or audience. something entertaining would happen.
great camera mate!!
Thanks for the vid by the way!
No let at 14h13.
Mattews made a so bad shot just before the let and he 's out of defense
2:30... Gaultiers reaction is the same as mine in that situation!
05:00 "It was my best shot of the week" :D :D :D :D
3:46 stroke to Greg. Nick shames himself by even attempting to complain. Ridiculous. 5:00 minutes in it gets worse.
You maid Italia congrat..justice
Nick Matthew is pretty annoying, even by Squash standards. Greg is kinda joking/friendly just to mess with you. Nick just comes across as a baby.
whining all the times likes them does not deserve our sport.
Nor does it deserves them to become a legend.
love Mathews movement
I think Matthews should do more backhand's drop shots.

Matthew finally got a new shirt.
Nah, it was purely down to safety. Gaultier slipped and was in the general flight path the ball would have taken. Mathew was there and ready to play the ball but held back because of the slip. Let ball.
An awful lot of gamesmanship here, hope this isn't the norm for top level squash?
It's call being a winner.
Krittapat Pranich Constantly complaining about the referee's decisions and whining whenever they don't go your way is actually more like being a bad loser.
Winner my ass, ai Krit.

especially too many lets kindly given to Mattews !
Love how Gaultier plays, Rami and Nick always complain in the court and asking for lets & strokes too often. James is a gentelman in the court.
7:50 - 8:30 just epic! :D

Gregs shot was down Matthew should of got it
Mathews used a lot of gamesmanship in his career. Gaultier was a far better player
Nick Mathew's such a baby. Must be an ex-soccer player.
Hey what’s up it’s me
Hey if Matthew's wonders why squash isn't in the Olympics he should look in the mirror. Is he trying to be the new Jonathon Powers?
two strait volley nicks off greg,
I swear by all it was down...
Mathew didnt whine like that when he was younger
The ref had a bit of a horror story with some of the calls in this one........very inconsistent.
Matthew-squash=Alonso-F1
Exactly! He reminds me of Andy Murray. Annoying little man
Why Gaultier taking 10 years between each shot. Cheat.
Gaultier has the French excuse, also :-P

Poor reffing at best.

matthew is a cocky whinner
This Nick Matthew's is such a bad sport!
Love Gaultier. Hate Matthew.
Nick Matthew=Whiny plonker
All gaultier does is complain
Nick Matthews probably wouldn't win too may "fair play" awards. A right royal whinger.
I bet nicks parents are proud of him becoming the biggest cry baby ever
is objecting on EVERY point obligatory!!
Gaultier is like a machine, amazing squash from both players. Thanks for posting
We all respect their talents but I still think a more strict refereeing is required in squash

5 min gets worst
