Pierre uses presets. Not necessarily just fm synthesis. FM8 is an FM synth, which he uses. But he often uses presets from tons of other types of synthesizer plugins.

nah purity is definitely part of plugg sound selection, I just believe it sounds very cheap compared to the authentic 90s/early 2000s hardware and VSTs that emulate them. I think their waveforms are buns, they should have sampled the hardware
fun fact: the guy that created omnisphere and the spectrasonics company, Eric Persing, was the main sound designer for Roland and created a good majority of those iconic presets from those keyboards back in the 80s & 90s

Good video. I've been using the JV 2080 VST for a while, and it's great to see it get a shoutout. However, sorry to be a nerd but Purity is a PCM synthesizer as well. In fact, pcm is like the only digital way (AFAIK I could be wrong) to have a sample based synth without like analog or tape based sampling.
That’s what I stated in the video, that Purity is a PCM synthesizer… that’s why I read it from their website, but it’s waveforms recorded for sound selection are a lot cheaper & lower quality than what you’ll hear from the authentic PCM companies of the 90s and early 2000s like Roland, Korg, or Yamaha.
