The two of you are delightful to watch! Although I live in California, I still enjoy hearing about your adventures at the Villages. Thank you for taking the time to make these informative (and entertaining) videos 😊
There is nothing "ticky tacky" about this Mailbag Monday. Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions. You often answer questions I have and some that I didn't even know I had. Have a fabulous week. Thank you.
Gizmo is adorable! I'm in Virginia and really enjoy your videos, just found them today. I'm 58 and will be considering Florida in the next few years. Keep making those great videos!
People use superficial characteristics as a shorthand way to judge character. In these people's estimation, people in certain categories generally have good character, and people who are members of other categories generally are of bad character. This is universal because it is basic, evolved human psychology. No way to outlaw it and get rid of it. No way to Biblically preach it out of people, either! Some people will voluntarily suppress their bigoted, judgemental reactions to despised groups of people, either out of compassion and social guilt or the fear of legal consequences. Legal consequences? Who wants to live in an oppressive, draconian, totalitarian state? Sorry, folks, but this is humanity as it is and always will be. Better get used to it and adapt to it. 🤔😔
Verizon is the best. Their coverage area is the greatest. Be sure to turn the WiFi phone option “on”. I have to say this. You two are the best ambassadors for The Villages out there. I know that wasn’t your intention, but you clearly love where you live. As I said before, I had never heard of The Villages until I ran across your channel. Since then, it’s been a dream of mine to move there. Just a dream. You’re booth so positive, yet unbiased. Thank you so much and keep these videos coming.
The grocery store online ordering has also saved us tons of money! I'm like you, Linda, I grab all kinds of stuff not on my list to buy if I'm in the grocery. Thanks for all the info!
I'm not near retirement age (yet), and while I live in Florida and have heard of The Villages, I truly never considered moving there in the future. But after finding your videos by accident and watching quite a few, you've convinced me to think about it in the future! In the meantime, I'm just enjoying listening to you both. You're a lot of fun and Gizmo is adorable. I also appreciate the info you give, such as your landscaping tips. Your yard is so pretty and is inspiring me to redo ours!
Very good review. I have lived in Florida for 20 years, when I walk @ 6 AM & in PM , I look like Nanook of the North, when it snaps cold. Parka, scarf, gloves & Norwegian hat. Love it when it cools. It is short lived.Jeanne
Had friends who lived in Wildwood,Oxford , Leesburg,Coleman,Lake Panasoffkee! Other nearby places. The Villages have made a lot of locals extremely wealthy and a lot extremely upset if they were left out of the expansions. Have not been back in a decade but hearing you are now south of 44 may entice me to return to see what some of my old stomping grounds have turned into..
Linda, what a cute pic of you and Zorro:)...your hair looks so good too :) (redhead here as well lol)...great video, always fun.God Bless your sons for their service;we are all grateful for our military.Love Giz as always...Happy New Year to you guys :).
Enjoyed your "Mailbag Monday" video. This is a very good format, answering questions that people have about The Villages. I have a screened lanai and I have neighbors in the back of me that have a screened lanai also and a dog. I hear their dog bark once in a while and I enjoy hearing it. Maybe because it's never constant. I even enjoy hearing the laughter and tinkling of glasses that comes from their lanai a few times during the year when they are entertaining! I like hearing the sound of people enjoying themselves. As long as they are not keeping me from sleeping at night, I'm fine! Whatever the noise is, it's usually stopped by 10:00 PM. Besides, it reminds me that people are alive, well and having fun! Give the Giz a pat for me. Stay well and have a healthy, happy New Year! ❤
I believe one of the best reasons to drive a golf cart, besides the fun, is that it cost so much less than operating a car. Golf carts are very reliable and use very little fuel. This is important for people on a budget.
You already own or lease the car and have insurance and to maintain it. All you save is the fuel. Now you have to buy, insure, and maintain a second vehicle vs the cost of fuel for the car. Found this out with a cheap motorcycle. Cheaper to drive the car. It may certainly be more convient, fun, and socially correct to drive a golf cart, but I doubt it’s economical.
I think you overestimate the maintenance and costs of owning a golf cart. Check the insurance rates ... very, very economical for golf carts. And don't forget that when you have a golf cart you can go from 2 vehicles to one as we did. We find the use of a golf cart much more economical than the use of an automobile.
@@garysimms1347 You forget the cost per mile driven in a car vs golf cart is much more expensive. Repairs to a car, tires, insurance, registration are also much more expensive. No registration fee for golf carts. Insurance (not mandatory) is about $100 per year.
Any community with dogs has several problems. First, dog owners trespass everywhere, and they leave dog manure where the dog travels. Also, dogs are noisy. Because of these facts, EVERYBODY has to "own" a dog. You get the dog manure and barking whether you personally have a dog or not.
We had a Dane named Tony that looked just like yours! He was absolutely beautiful and incredibly smart. I miss him sooo much! We lost him in 2008 and even though I’ve had a Bichon for 11years, I think about Tony every day😢 He was definitely a once-in-a-lifetime dog. Blessings🙏
Hi Jerry and Linda, 3 sons in the military has got to be tough! Our youngest son just finished basic training, and is home on leave, and we are dreading him leaving in a couple of days to his first duty station. God bless you, and your sons. Thanks for the great informative videos. Keep up the good work.
Many years ago my wife and I along with her parents went down for a preview visit, of course they offered a free round of golf on one of the pro courses. My FIL and I wanted to play and we were paired up with another FIL and SIL, I think the father was a resident. We had the best time and those guys were hilarious, 18 rounds they were busting stones on one another, all in good nature, and I was new at golf and sucked badly but they were encouraging and patient. Sometimes you get to meet really great people by chance.
Happy Monday! 📬 Linda is esp radiant today in pink. 💖 Fun little change in scenery and Gizmo is my favorite scene stealer! 🐕 Have a fantastic week! Best! 💕
I love your Mailbag Monday videos. So informative! My husband and I want to do a Lifestyle visit in June - after school ends. Linda, your hair looks great. Hau'oli Makahiki Hou (Happy New Year) from Hawaii.
Another informative fun video. We love Gizmo although we don’t have a dog. The dog park in The Villages between Pine Hills and Pine Ridge has separate “play ground” between small and large dogs. Thank you for your video.
Ronnie that is so hard on the car, you need to take it and run it once a month. Have seen many senior cars with transmission, engine issues because they don't run the cars. I would try to sell that car you have not driven and buy a new one and run it each month until your current car fails on you requiring major service. Just some advice.
I'm happy to see Mr. Gizzy in the foreground instead of in the background. He's is such a cutie. We're cold here in GA too. Our son in New England was 64 degrees and we were in the 30's last week. Weird!! Wishing y'all a healthy and happy 2021! ( I never thought I'd say y'all) :-)
As a villager for over 16 years, a lot depends on where you live and who your neighbors are...no yapping dogs! Boat ramps at many locations, activities are plenty, never fear boredom. All villagers are welcome, no one is excluded. We are a warm welcoming community of retired people. No gas smells, rarely does this happen. Most of these questions are really odd. The villages are the same as any place else. The villages has far and above more restaurants stores and convenient options.
The restriction to two dogs per household seems to apply throughout the Villages. One thing dog owners should consider is what is sometimes called dog bite insurance. It takes some of the pain out of being sued because your dog bit a repairman or neighbor.
Jerry and Linda in quilted vests? That's different. Poor little Gizmo - he's so calm and patient. He didn't fuss the whole time you answered questions. How old is that little guy?? He was ready to fall asleep. Adorable.
the barking dog question is a good one....big difference in a dog that will let out a few yaps when another dog passes from inside but that situation with screened in porches and barking dogs could be an issues. Does the association have rules that can be enforced if you have neighbors that don't seem to comply? Thanks.
Question for a future Mail Bag Monday: how did you gain the courage to move from family and friends? That's probably the biggest reason keeping me in Michigan. With your sons being in the Military (thank ❤ them for their service, please ), perhaps that wasn't a factor, but what about leaving other family members?
believe me, it's tough moving away from family and friends, my wife and I moved down here recently to an Ocala community and we are having a tough time with it. We are considering moving back up north in the spring. ugh
I live at the Jersey shore in one of our villages, there are 7. I have lived here for 17 years and love it. We are allowed to have two dogs, no size requirement. We do not have police patrol but we have safety patrol. It is all volunteers and we patrol at night. Some of us stay at home on base and others drive through our village(6). They lookout for any problems and check for open garage doors. We have regular meetings every month. I am on base which means if patrol sees an open garage they call base and we call that resident to inform them to close their door. We have a book with every residents address and phone number. If we are unable to reach the resident after a period of time we notify the police and they come to check for a possible medical emergency. We have many clubs to join, movies and dances monthly. Their is something for everyone. Your house is beautiful💕
I’m close enough to retirement to be interested in what my next steps and life might look like. I enjoy your channel immensely although I’m not interested in The Villages. I’ve already lived in a golf course community. The financial waste to keep up the unnecessary security and garbage can police is not missed. Good for you for featuring more diversity.
Your winter clothes looked so incongruous -- funny! If it was that cold, where was Gizmo's little sweater?! :-) Was so fun to see so much of him this time. What a cutie, and *so* calm! The way he snuggled with you toward the end, Jerry, was so sweet! ♡♡
I love your Gizmo! Thanks for answering all of these great questions. The times that my husband and I have visited The Villages, we have loved how friendly and kind everyone is! The only thing keeping us here (in TX) is our daughter and 3 of our 6 grandchildren. I hope that one day we will move there!
Greetings from Christchurch New Zealand. Enjoy your videos, sounds like you have a great life there in Florida. We are pretty free here to do what we want and go where we want within NZ. However 3 of my kids live in Australia and my daughter has had my 1st grandchild so sadly we can’t visit due to strict quarantine Conditions on both sides of “the ditch”. But l don’t mind as it has kept my vulnerable pregnant daughter safe and the new baby too. Have a happy new year🥳
Lanai. I didnt know that many folks used the word Lani for Porch. But then, you can tell what my roots are by the my use of "folks" I guess. I once bought a property with the main house, a guest house, a nice huge shop building and a detached office behind a private drive. When the realtor showed the property, she said it had a two car "portico". Turns out it was in fact a two car carport with a rock wall about three feet around three sides. Nice, but its a car port. I guess I had a lanai and didnt realize it.
You definitely have a LGBT following for your videos. My wife and I have been following your journey since the beginning and even moved to TV in June. We love it here and have had no issues whatsoever. It has been very welcoming and friendly. BTW-when are you going to start selling your T-Shirts? We want some! LOL
@@lauralampe1664 I agree. My wife and I are looking at different areas of Florida that are inclusive of LGBT for a future move. It would be great to hear an interview in a future video.
“Everyone IS welcome”. We’re too happy and enjoy retirement to be concern about anybody’s life preferences. And if somebody doesn’t like our or your life preferences, it has nothing to do with The Villages nor does it speak for everybody. 🥰 Cheers ☕️☕️
Disregard mojo master’s comment. Homophobs are everywhere and are ignorable. Come on down! TV is a great place for everyone to live and find their own community of friends.
Good questions! I live in Florida and I agree that Verizon has very good coverage for cell phones. Often, when I am with friends who may have different phone services, I am the only one who can get a signal! Also, during Hurricane Irma Verizon gave FREE unlimited data for over a week. This was key for us, as the Hurricane was predicted to come directly into Tampa Bay and we evacuated. We depended on my cell phone for so many things: traffic and hazard reports, power outage notifications, finding hotels, etc. It was great to know that I didn't have to worry about charges for data overage.
Great video as always and love "Giz!" Hey, that Great Dane you had, Zoro, weighed MUCH more than Linda! But, I am thinking that you can't say the same for Jerry! HA! HAPPY NEW YEAR! As far as New Year's resolutions, my wife hasn't told me what mine are yet! HA! (I do love her dearly...been married 36 years...heading for 37!) Keep those videos coming!
I have a question for future episodes. I had a double lung transplant 2.5 years ago at the Cleveland Clinic. To date I have had no infection, no rejection, and I'm doing well. Thanks be to God and excellent medical care. What about serious medical care in or near The Villages? Enjoy watching your presentations!!
You guys are great! It’s 37 degrees here! I’m definitely in need of some much needed sunshine! Hopefully I eventually migrate down to Florida when I retire later on! Have a happy and healthy new year! Sending love from New York! ❤️
We got 5" of snow🌨❄ here on Christmas Eve 🎄 evening. Temperatures in the single-digit with wind chill factors below zero. ⛄. Never a dull moment with the weather in Northeast Tennessee. Weather here on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day rain possible thunderstorms and temperatures close to 70 degrees.😁
Dogs are not allowed at our community pool. Once someone brought one and they threatened to close the pool down. To help with this issue, when they close the pool for the season they offer one doggy day. One day where people are not allowed at the pool and it's for dogs only.
So glad you had visits from 2 of your sons. A year is a long time. Since you’re sitting there chillin at 50 degrees, wondering do you burn oil in a home furnace for days like this for heat? We think of a/c in Fl heat but haven’t heard this ? before. Great show the Q & A episodes so helpful👍
Thanks Aurora! The homes here have heat pumps. Now back in Indiana a heat pump would keep you cool 12 months a year.🤣🤣 In Florida with the hot to moderate temperatures, they work fantastic!
I had a huge black cat named Zorro. I have two small dogs. I live in a congested neighborhood and everyone has a dog. When one barks they all bark. My dogs were good until a friend took care of them. When they came home they were yappers and it doesn’t stop once it starts.
We are not full time residents. I fly down often, I’d say I am gone for about 3/4 weeks at a time. Is there somewhere near MCO where I can rent to leave my car while I am out of town? I am spending SO much money on shuttle services to and from the airport. Any suggestions?
Great as always guys, Happy New Year. We are hoping we can get down next Fall to scope out a more lengthy stay in the future. Won’t be in The Villages$$ more like the Ocala area, winters are getting to much.
Hi Linda and Jerry, regarding your cell phone not always receiving a signal in your home; do you have aluminum blinds? If so, this can cause problems to signals at times. If you put the blind up the signal may improve or move the call phone away from them. Wishing you the very best, Robert.
Thanks Robert, that makes sense. No, we do not have aluminium blinds. We do have a radiant barrier made of metal in the attic of our home though and that may be the problem.
Good to see you guys this cold morning, yes it’s cold here in F.Pierce,Florida. And I do what I would do if I still lived in Ohio.just bundle up, but I don’t have very many warm clothes. Lol Anyway O Gismo looks like he wants to go back to bed . Lol Instacart brings my groceries to me from Publix, sure is nice on days like today. Happy New year, and boy don’t we pray that 2021 will be a much better year, God bless and don’t forget to to keep your nose and mouth shut. Lol
Stucco siding on a metal mesh, the metal coati g in the attic, creates a Faraday Effect. That’s why radio signals don’t receive well inside. Cell phones are basically just a fancy two way radio.
The writer/director of that movie contacted us and asked us if we would like to preview it. We did not do so as of yet, but we saw the trailer. It seems to feature an odd collection of people that we are not sure are even Villagers. It looked to us to be about the oddities of a man living in a Van (how is that even possible?), doing drugs, and being swingers. We could be off in our conclusion because as I said we have not seen it as of yet… but if the trailer is any indication it will not do The Villages any good. The Villages has long fought to dispel the incorrect notions about stds and swingers, etc. and sensationalism like this will only add fuel to the a fire. Good people doing normal things are not what TV ratings and movie ratings are all about. That's why directors, writers, etc. look for the outlandish to attract viewers. The Villages is not as depicted in the trailer.
Great video as always. Side note on boat ramps. Our residents here in the Harbor Hills community have boat ramp access to a canal leading to Lake Griffin and the beautiful chain of lakes. There is also boat docking available on site. Come visit us for a round of golf or just to say hello!
After watching your podcast I love the villages, but I have 3 cats. I read about the restrictions and thought my idea of coming down there was shot. But, I wrote someone at teh Villages and she said I could legally bring my 3 rescue cats down there and they would be allowed. Only provision being when one passed away I would be required to stay at the 2 animal limit.
Enjoyed the Video guys gizmo too!! My lives in Lake Wales she has been telling me its been really cold! She had to put the fireplace on!! Well I hope you have a happy new year 🎊🎈🎆

Focus on a person's character rather than a characteristic like LGBT. Look at good vs. bad person. Thanks for the video. Entertaining as always!

Thank you, Sharron.
Love your videos.you people are so sincere and informative!
Aww... thank you, Burton!
Thanks, Erin! 😁😁

Your winter clothes looked so incongruous -- funny! If it was that cold, where was Gizmo's little sweater?! :-)
Was so fun to see so much of him this time. What a cutie, and *so* calm! The way he snuggled with you toward the end, Jerry, was so sweet! ♡♡
He is a keeper! Gizmo has a coat which he does wear on his cold morning walks.
@@JERRYANDLINDA At first I thought you were talking about his natural fur coat (knowing your humor)! Know you take good care of him. :-)
Tracfone is the best deal by far for a general user
I love your Gizmo! Thanks for answering all of these great questions. The times that my husband and I have visited The Villages, we have loved how friendly and kind everyone is! The only thing keeping us here (in TX) is our daughter and 3 of our 6 grandchildren. I hope that one day we will move there!
Thanks, Debbie. See you when you get here! 😁😁
Very informative!
We used to live in the villages. We moved to Fruitland Park, how funny you must be in the new section. I’m from Colorado, no it’s not California.
They said "Calirado!" We believe it was a joke.
@@JERRYANDLINDA oh lol
You definitely have a LGBT following for your videos. My wife and I have been following your journey since the beginning and even moved to TV in June. We love it here and have had no issues whatsoever. It has been very welcoming and friendly. BTW-when are you going to start selling your T-Shirts? We want some! LOL
I think it would be interesting and informative for Jerry and Linda to interview an LGBT villager or villagers for a future video.
@@lauralampe1664 I agree. My wife and I are looking at different areas of Florida that are inclusive of LGBT for a future move. It would be great to hear an interview in a future video.
We are on it, Laura!
So you were sitting outside at your house? I envy you sunshine! Haven’t seen the sun for days now. Send some north please! 😎
Yes, not bad out there. It was morning. Gonna be mid-seventies today!
Cant wait to see the LGBT episode, I am gay a was wondering about this issue, there isn’t a lot of information out there on that. Thanks so much.
No body cares, have fun come on down
Yes Gregory, we hope to put that together real soon.😁😁
LOL...wonderful.
Appreciate your videos. Thank you!
You guys are great and so is your dog.

I love it when you put up words like Gizmo is talking. So funny!!
Love that adorable Gizmo. ❤️
Big Tom, the heat is uncomfortable. The cold is painful. You have to pick the lesser of two evils. I'll take the heat thank you very much 😊
Me too!
Cool name for a black cat.
@@JERRYANDLINDA my little black female was named Magic. Right now I have a cat named Yo-yo and one named Corky Noodleman.
🤣😝🤣😝🤣😝🤣
Do raised bed gardens or container gardens for veggies attract more insects or rodents?
Golf carts are probably the highest miles per gallon vehicle you own! Mine is 50+ mpg.
Thank your son's for their service for me.Im a vet and have several challenge coins. My ? Is is Summer field part of the villages?
Summerfield is just north of The Villages. Stonecrest and Del Webb Spruce Creek, 55+ communities, are located in Summerfield.
We also have a doxie, but he barks a lot. We would not be poplar in a densely populated area.
Haha, you are right. A yappy dog belongs in the country.
Fun video!!! Thanks
We are not full time residents. I fly down often, I’d say I am gone for about 3/4 weeks at a time. Is there somewhere near MCO where I can rent to leave my car while I am out of town? I am spending SO much money on shuttle services to and from the airport. Any suggestions?
Thanks for your last response to me ,Jerry and yes go Irish!! My wife, Debbie and I want to wish you two a Happy N ew Year....🙃😉
The same to you and Debbie, Ralph. Big day coming Friday!
@@JERRYANDLINDA Oh yes and if it starts like the last game, I am afraid it will be a loss. I am praying! Lol
Thanks for sharing 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Always great Guys.
Love ur Disclaimers, Do ur Homework before ...Take Care
I love your fur baby Gizmo!
Curious about what you two think of the documentary about the Villages?
Gizmo snuggling up to Jerry! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️

One other question, are ypu allowed to put on any additions or extend your house either front ways or back ways? Thanks!
Yes you may, if you have the Room to do it and go through the approval process.
@@JERRYANDLINDA thank you!
Great video as always. Side note on boat ramps. Our residents here in the Harbor Hills community have boat ramp access to a canal leading to Lake Griffin and the beautiful chain of lakes. There is also boat docking available on site. Come visit us for a round of golf or just to say hello!
Thanks Nikki, we will check it out!
That is great to know, thank you… See you when you get here!
Enjoyed the Video guys gizmo too!! My lives in Lake Wales she has been telling me its been really cold! She had to put the fireplace on!! Well I hope you have a happy new year 🎊🎈🎆
Yes, a little bit chilly. But today was very, very nice.
