Very nice segment. We live down in the Desoto village and pretty much agree with what these folks are saying. Unlike what we read in a local tabloid gossip rag, we have found that most people are very decent folks and the area is a wonderful place to retire.
OK Jerry and Linda - one of your best yet! As you know, we live in the Village of Linden also, and I could not agree more with our neighbors. This is a great place to live.
Great video and very helpful! My husband and I enjoyed talking to you today, Jerry. We love the informative videos you, Linda and Gizmo provide. Thank you!
Hey guys, that was great! We are closing in Bonita Village this coming week - alot of my "homework" was done through watching your videos so, thank you!
Welcome! We're across the road over in Liberty Park. There's a lot to love about being in our part of The Villages, as nice as the new areas are. We bought here last year, and like being a short cart ride from Lake Sumter Landing. Since our main clubs meet in Laurel Manor and Eisenhower, being here puts us right in the middle. Plus we love the nearby shopping on 466A.
I really enjoyed this video. Thanks to all who participated. I loved hearing about The Villages from your perspectives. I am hoping to retire to TV in about 3-4 years. I am doing a lot of research and Jerry and Linda - your videos are helping me immensely. I live on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, so visiting TV is not easy to do right now.
Great video and fantastic format! We found it very interesting - all the hot topics. Thank you for all the time and effort you put into your videos! Hope Linda is enjoying her time with the new baby and you aren’t too lonely Jerry!
Thinks dorebea, it has been very difficult with covid 19 to be able to get close to people to interview. But this worked as we were able to isolate the people by themselves.
Interesting to hear comments from others. Maybe interview some folks in the older areas who have been there for quite a while as a contrast. Wonder what they think of the growth? From an outsider it seems like each area is just like small town living anywhere - with more amenities and activities than I’ve ever heard of! The overall size doesn’t seem to matter much. Thanks for another informative video!
This place looks lovely but I don’t want to live where everyone is my age. I love having all ages of neighbors. My parents lived in a place called Laguna Woods in CA. I realized then I did not want to live in a senior community. We will be moving to Florida in January 2022. I do enjoy watching your channel. Thank you for sharing your lives!
Don't like the idea of not owning the land under my house either. Its not a real community without other generations of people I don't think. Very stepford and scary to me. lol
Always enjoy and appreciate these insightful videos! 👏🏼👍🏼 The perspectives from all walks of life is fantastic. My absolute favorite comment - “As long as I’m not IN the correctional facility, it doesn’t bother me!” 🤣🤣 FABULOUS and oh so true!! Keep ‘em coming Jerry & Linda! You guys are the BEST! Stay well. 💕☀️
Well you finally made it to The Island. And a great bunch of my neighbors you found. Great interview. I am ready for all the new stuff. But I go home in the summer.
Love your videos, and this was a very intering topic. We have been here a year now, moved from the PNW, and it was the best move we have ever made. The weather is wonderful, even the summer steamers a fine if you time you activities. The activities are what makes The Villages an absolutly best choice to retire in. We live in Monarch Grove, which is adjacent to Linden. I would have asked another connectivity question; "What would you think of having golf cart connectivity over the turnpike via Warmsprings Ave. on the north side to connect to Bradford, Chitty Chatty and then over to Rohan" There is more than 14 feet of shoulder space crossing the turnpike on the north side that could easily be coneccted to Riverbend and the golf cart trail on the east side of the Turnpike. Perhaps that could be a whole other video. Anyway thanks for what you do. keep up the great videos and well keep watching.
You two are doing a great service explaining life in the villages. Please don't let the below social justice warriors change the way you make your videos. Literally, there are a couple of people crapping on your hard work insinuating without minorities you're doing us a disservice. I guarantee you the amount of people who care about such things are a very small percentage of the population. They just talk about it constantly and repeatedly. Don't change a thing.
Very enjoyable to meet some real "guest residents" on your show and to just let them talk. You should do a few more! Makes me want to do the Lifestyle visits soon
I love you guys! You're the best! I started watching your videos about a year ago and have just completed a lifestyle visit with my parents over Thanksgiving...guess what?! We're moving from Mississippi to The Villiages. We'll be living in St. Catherine's - hope to see you there sometime. God Bless You!
Oh my gosh. I have watched so many of your videos. What courage you have knowing that so many of your neighbors are scrutinizing every word you say. You seem like such genuine people that are very nice. I don’t think I have seen a minority face in any of the videos. I am terrified by terms such as like minded. You avoid politics which I applaud, but minorities are probably not given a second thought. Bless you both!
Thanks, David. Yes, minorities exist here and are welcome. I have talked to many, and hope have interviews when covid allows. All are welcome. None are refused residence here. We bought our home from Indiana, sight unseen. We were not asked about race, politics, sexual preference, etc. Hopefully we can address that in a show before long.
Great video! Well, I am not Jeffrey. I'm his wife. My mother in law lives in The Villages now for a couple of decades and will soon be moving to Alabama to live with her youngest son so they can care for her better. She's a retired Police Officer and Private Detective. Anyway, we love her a lot. My husband and I are thinking of moving there since we already have some other family in Florida too. Only they live in Brevard County. We live at the Jersey Shore. My husband gets SSDI. Will that change any? We would have to sell our house up here first. Mom lives in Lady Lake if you are familiar or not. That's her mailing address. We love your dog! We have Ziggy. A little Pom Chi about 10. My husband calls him his little barnacle because he hardly ever leaves his side. Oh, and he likes a neighbor dog named Gizmo! Well, we enjoyed your videos. Thanks for all the information.
Linden Isle is very pretty and I enjoyed the interviews. Jerry now go wash the dishes and give Gizmo some love (and food)!! Sending best wishes to your son and the entire family on the new arrival. When will Linda be home??
Hello, Jerry and Linda, this is my own opinion, so take it for what its worth , I live inConneaut, Ohio some time around 20 years ago the town welcomed a prison into the town A small town of around 18,ooo ,I always thought they were great , hiring locals and such , in hindsight I have changed my mind, For our town and surrounding areas , we have had to incorporate many of their families and acquainted person, for what it’s worth, sincerely Rich
You can spend 4 to 7 nights in a Courtyard villa. They are nicely appointed with golf cart, bicycles, and you'll get movie tickets, show passes, and entrance to all the amenities such as the golf driving range, clubs etc. It's a really good way to find out what the villages is all about. Just contact a Villages sales center for information. It's more during the Winter, and cheaper from May to December. Good luck. it's going to be exciting! See you when you get here!
Hi Guys! I was looking for a place I could send an email, but I could not seem to find an address. I wanted to ask a personal question and decided to ask it here. I apologize to your viewers, because it is off topic. My husband wants to live near Disney and I am trying to convince him that the Villiages could possibly qualify. Are there trips and Disney clubs? Is there any interest in the amusement scene? Thanks, Ann
@@Kathrynanne9 Only about 40 minutes to Disney World. Even less from down south of me where the folks in this video live. Slowest part for me is getting from where I am in The Villages out to the Turnpike.
What village, Rob? North of 466A? If you do live "in" The Villages, you're the first resident that has complained to us about crime. Those comments usually come from outsiders.
I live in Fenney the prison have no clue it's even there. I have felt and heard the blasts. The first time it freaked me out the floor moved like a wave underneath me. The quarry has been there for decades it's not a threat. I lived in Virginia Trace first moved there June 2016. It used to be snowbirds it was crowded now it's crowded year round. I love that in Fenney I feel away from things. I only use my golf car to get the mail and it was nice to go more places in it. I had an issue with the a garbage truck sinking into the black top right in front of my home. Sinkholes are not that common like my issue it was a wash away. Our most traumatic thing recently was a neighbor was in a severe golf car accident she had a brain injury.
That's not true....and what crime we do have is by these 30, 40 and 50 something kids free loading off their parents that have drug issues. They claim they are here to take care of them. The crime rate in the Villages is among the lowest anywhere.
@@donnajoy9635 I agree. Read The Villages News all the time. The trouble comes into The Villages from outer surrounding areas too. Like Ocala Wildwood, Leesburg.
Very positive once again. You can become as involved as you choose. Want a friend? Be a friend. We have a prison, jail and a regional corrections center. Two of these have walk always on a regular basis and nobody really cares. Other than the jail, the other two facilities are minimum security. They are designed mostly for white collar crime.
The prison and quarry seems to be more of an obsession with those north of 44. Doesn’t bother any of us south of 44. There are many great villages here and it’s really what you make it. There is no “best village” in The Villages. Wherever you chose to live make the most of it and start by being a good neighbor. In my opinion it is easier moving to a new village because everyone is new and it’s more inclusive in that it’s easier to connect and start neighborhood groups like golf, Pickleball and more. The Villages is big and getting bigger, that’s a fact and that won’t change because people want to live here. If they build homes you will come and people keeping coming so they build. Each Village and the immediate area is basically your base of living and activities. But knowing there is much more beyond your base is a plus. We have the Polo, three squares, beautiful walking areas like the Sharon Rose or The Hogeye. What’s not to love. Jerry I live right across the isle on the mainland. Would have loved to say Hi. Linden has three sections to it - mainland, south Linden and the isle. Kinda funny for a small village 😊 Enjoy your new grand baby.
You may want to consider a lifestyle stay. It's more ($199/night) during the Winter, and cheaper ($99) from May to December.
The guy who laughs at sinkholes looks foolish. More Villages = more groundwater pumped out = more sinkholes due to Florisa's geology. What do people think replaces that drawn water? (psst, it's the ground above it)
Thanks Pam, we sure are sorry about that. We don't have any control over the number of ads, the length of the ads, or even the subject of the ads. We sure do appreciate you watching though, and the money we make from these ads helps us keep the channel going.
@@JERRYANDLINDA and ps, according to UA-cam's new terms they can now shove as many commercials anywhere they want, EVEN if its a channel that's non monetized. So dear viewers, get use to a lot more. 😕
I'm a few years away from retirement. I'd L💜VE to live in this type of active community, but I don't have a pension like teachers or auto workers. I just have a 401K and SS. I live in Michigan and dream about Florida vacations. Living there is not in my budget. I do, however, really enjoy your videos.
There are other communities south of the Villages and closer to Disney and less expensive to live in and with all amenities that a person could want and no extra charges like bond issues to deal with!
As someone who has lived in The Villages for ten years, those who don't live here should realize the 2020 census was 130,000 and about 125,000 of those do not live in the new area south of SR 44. These questions about blasting and prisons, are only relevant to the new homes section. My Village is Tamarind Grove, and we are 15 miles from the Village of Fenney , which was the first village built in the new area south of 44. We are between the two newest squares, 3 miles from Brownwood Square which opened about 2013 and 3 miles from Lake Sumter Landing Square which opened in 2007, we are in the southern area of the established Villages and yet we are at least 10 miles from the new homes. We are also ten miles from Spanish Springs Square, the first one built in the early 90's. The Villages is very large, the established villages, which excludes the new homes, is 35 square miles. I remember watching a college football all-star game in 2004 on ESPN from the Polo Fields at The Villages, I thought that was probably the center of The Villages, they had 12,000 people in attendance. Actually the polo fields does hold many events but I live 8 miles from the polo fields and might go there once a year for something. To put that into perspective, the new homes area is about 20 miles from the polo fields.
Sinkhole insurance doesn't cover your yard... just your house. I think the constant blasting could eventually fracture your underground sprinkler pipes thereby causing sinkholes.
Current Florida statue requires all personal and commercial property insurance policies to include catastrophic ground cover collapse. But that may not cover you should a sinkhole damage your property. Both types of coverage are defined below, with a comparison to help you determine your coverage needs based on your risk appetite. Catastrophic gound cover collapse definition Catastrophic ground cover collapse means the geological activity that results in all of the following: The abrupt collapse of the ground cover; A depression in the ground cover clearly visible to the naked eye; Structural damage to the building, including the foundation; and The insured structure being condemned and ordered to be vacated by the governmental agency authorized by law to issue such an order for that structure. Sinkhole definition Sinkhole means a landform created by subsidence of soil, sediment, or rock as underlying strata are dissolved by groundwater. A sinkhole may form by collapse into subterranean voids created by the dissolution of limestone or dolostone, or by subsidence as these strata are dissolved. Sinkhole loss means the structural damage to the building, including the foundation, caused by the sinkhole activity. Sinkhole activity means settlement or systematic weakening of the earth supporting such property only when such settlement or systematic weakening results from movement or raveling of soils, sediments, or rock materials into subterranean voids created by the effect of water on limestone or similar rock formation. Coverage Comparison Sinkhole coverage provides more comprehensive coverage than Catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse. If the property suffers foundation cracks or other damage caused by sinkhole activity, meaning it is still habitable but just needs repairs, it will be covered with sinkhole coverage. Catastrophic ground cover collapse coverage is very restrictive and must meet all four criteria listed above to qualify for a loss. Sinkhole coverage does not require the building to be condemned and ordered to be vacated for coverage to trigger. Both catastrophic ground cover collapse and sinkhole coverage are intended to ONLY cover the roofed and walled structures. They are not intended to cover cracked driveways, sidewalks, swimming pools or patio decks. They do not cover sinkhole activity on open land, parking lots, streets or roads or similar property that may serve a community. While you will save money on your premium without sinkhole coverage, you risk having to pay out of pocket for damages should sinkhole damage occur to your property.
Funny how they love living in the new area south of 44 but can't wait for the bridge so they can get to the shopping and amenities in the northern area of The Villages. After five years the supermarket still hasnt opened south of 44. We have lived in The Villages for 14 years and it is well maintained with lots of activities. Like any where most people are friendly. But it Is a company town with some serious disadvantages.
agree, the sentence IT DOES NOT BOTHER ME, at nauseum. You wonder if this is an honest review of the place. If you were a home owner and your property value dependent on the continued growth of this place like a Ponzi tax scheme, wouldnt you brag. What they don't show you is, what 300K can buy, a cracker box. The only good advice was "do your home work" and I did , neh not for me. I want to be where young people are. Surrounded by old people makes me feel old.
Giorgi then buy south of 44. We live south of 44 and a lot of my neighbors and friends are between 45-55 years old. We retired here at 60 to live the lifestyle. Maybe Jerry and Linda should do a video on those 60 or younger living here.

Great points, Bonnie! Thank you!
Great video!
Very interesting, is there somewhere we can see the “plans”? I’m curious about the next phase mentioned. Sorry if it’s a dumb question.
We can't tell you how to find them, but they are in the newspaper occasionally… and on The Village's website.
Stop in at the Everglades Rec Center and ask.
“Some say it’s going to grow all the way to DisneyLAND.” 😂
Your getting pretty good at these videos!
Thanks Janet, we're trying!

How far away is the prison?
we estimate about 7-8 miles from our house.
Wow that's too close for me
No thanks. Couldn't give me a place for free in Florida. That heat and humidity is terrible. I love the 4 seasons of the North.
When we see comments like this… we always wonder if that person has actually spent considerable time in Florida?
@@JERRYANDLINDA Yes I have, my sister-in-law lives there. The North is so much more vibrant. That's just my opinion.
Where never is heard a discouraging word and the skies are not cloudy all day
Actually, the range is in the Ocala National Forest. 😁😁😁
Does Linden Isle have a bridge? Linden Bridge is falling down, falling down....
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Interesting comments. The 1 that surprised us was the person who didn't know about sinkholes.
We're just not fans of FL.
Rumor has it there is a prison. No kidding, anyone buying a home here, do your homework.
ua-cam.com/video/324AgKxQUjQ/v-deo.html
There's a prison here? I didn't see anything about a prison in the promotional literature they gave me before we moved here. LOL
Starke--where executions take place.
I have heard you both mention a lifestyle visit and that dark haired lady mentioned a Lifestyle package. What's that? Tell me more.
You may want to consider a lifestyle stay. It's more ($199/night) during the Winter, and cheaper ($99) from May to December.
@@JERRYANDLINDA excellent thank you! I look forward to it.
Thank you Jerry & Linda for taking the time to make this video. Thank you to all your guest as well. We appreciate their feedback!
Great video although odd they were all from the same village.
Thanks Jerome, We went to Linden Isle for the interviews… so that is why they were all residents of the same village.
If the Villages go all the way to Disneyland that will be news!
Now that would be great!
The guy who laughs at sinkholes looks foolish. More Villages = more groundwater pumped out = more sinkholes due to Florisa's geology. What do people think replaces that drawn water? (psst, it's the ground above it)
Next time find some cranky folks too. Even if you have to import them...keep it fun.
Great idea. I did not know these folks they are just positive people. Don't worry though, I like to find people that gripe a bit.
I really like the interviews from people who live in TV.
Retirement communities are nice. The pay in Florida is low if you have to work
But no income tax
Another great video. But man the commercial breaks are annoying.
Thanks Ann, we appreciate it!
There are other communities south of the Villages and closer to Disney and less expensive to live in and with all amenities that a person could want and no extra charges like bond issues to deal with!
@@pataudette2193 ...can you name a few?
Why are they all from the same area?
Linda, we went to their neighborhood to ask questions that is probably why they are all from the same area.
🤗 That was fun! 😺😁
DId the new Grandbaby show up yet??????????????????????????
Yep, a bouncing baby boy… everybody is doing great. Thanks for asking.
Ask the northern residents if they think its getting too big.😉
I have a feeling the North folks might feel differently and I've only visited twice. lol
You can't stop progress...
Catastrophic gound cover collapse definition
Catastrophic ground cover collapse means the geological activity that results in all of the following:
The abrupt collapse of the ground cover;
A depression in the ground cover clearly visible to the naked eye;
Structural damage to the building, including the foundation; and
The insured structure being condemned and ordered to be vacated by the governmental agency authorized by law to issue such an order for that structure.
Sinkhole definition
Sinkhole means a landform created by subsidence of soil, sediment, or rock as underlying strata are dissolved by groundwater.
Coverage Comparison
Sinkhole coverage provides more comprehensive coverage than Catastrophic Ground Cover Collapse.
None of the blasting they're doing is going to damage a sprinkler line. You're far, far more likely to damage it with ordinary gardening.
@@saundby Every photo I've seen in the news of sinkholes in TV, all have broken sprinkler pipes in them. So, I made a logical conclusion.
9:58 3000 clubs?
Yes.
"Is a sinkhole like a pothole!?!" - LOL! Yes, a really, really BIG one!
Weren't these folks great? We really enjoyed them. Witty and wonderful people.
10:15 lol, cute ;)
🙌🤗
The questions were good, the answers not so much
agree, the sentence IT DOES NOT BOTHER ME, at nauseum.
