- (20 Aug 1945) Mr Attlee broadcast at midnight the news that victory over Japan was complete. VJ Day coincided with the Royal Opening of Parliament and the King and Queen's drive to Westminster began the two days of celebrations. Crowds gathered outside Buckingham Palace waiting to cheer their sovereign and kept themselves entertained by singing. At night floodlighting and bonfires lit up the skies of London and the rejoicing continued.

Thanks for posting!
When the COVID-19 pandemic ends, we'll celebrate like this too
if it ever ends that is
Looking back, the celebration was very underwhelming lol
Today is 75th anniversary of V-J Day. 15th August 2020. It's good to see Prince Charles attended a event with old veterans along a piece of a rail line from the River Kiwi in Thailand despite the coronavirus.
Lots of celebrations in this movie but today little happening cos of the virus.
Even though for America the war against Japan was the really big one there's been hardly any commemoration of the 75th anniversary of VJ Day. I think I have an idea, but does anyone have a notion as to why not?
Lest we forget, and I never will.
Thanks to the 1-st Earl Attlee,Lord Mountbatten,Sir Slim, and 2,5 million British Empire servicemen for the counter conquest of Burma,Thailand,Cambodia,Malaysia,Philippines,Indonesia,Vietnam,Taiwan etc. Rule Britannia.
Slim yes and the Soldiers
India, Burma, Colonial Territories, where, the brunt of the Japanese attack fell?
Lol, according to this paternalistic grandfather, the Pacific War was just some gradation of an organized mop up operation.
Australia was understandably just a bit more uh, enthusiastic yes lol ua-cam.com/video/3VSDcXT7XWM/v-deo.html
The brunt of the Japanese attack was on China
I've not seen any heroes and victory... In those wars i just seen, fools, and losts...
Why call people who served fools and losts? Yes some wars were not needed but ones in ww2 definitely should be respected and thanked
