Well Hidetaka Miyazaki has always said how much they (that is he and other members of Fromsoft) love the zelda games and how they have always been a source of inspiration. So it's not that strange to think about!
How ironic that Elden Ring would go on to become the closest thing to Breath of the Wild in regards to openworld exploration and gameplay. Now i'm wondering if the sequel to Breath of the Wild will have an Elden Ring reference to honor Miyazaki's love for Zelda.
Every fantasy adventure game will forever be in the shadows of Legend of Zelda but that is probably because most people who now enjoy Dark Souls Elden Ring or Elder Scrolls started with the green tunic wearing Hyrule hero
@@haydensmith4085 Well they did pay tributes to both Satoru Iwata and Robin Williams by creating characters who represented them in Breath of the Wild so i wouldn't say it's out of the realm of possibility for Elden Ring to get a passing reference in the sequel.

Way to overlook the obvious connection between both games.
They're both being enslaved. The Gods of Anor Londo subjugated the giants and Zubora is treating Gabora unfairly. They're both wearing essentially medieval slave masks. Maybe from soft took inspiration but all the Giants in DS1 and 3 look like that

So I just noticed this, Gabora only has one eye exposed, the other is covered, which likely makes him a modern reference to Ippon Datara, a giant, one eyed, one legged yokai said to be the fallen form of the god of ironwork and blacksmithing. In fact if you look at the interpretation from the SMT/Persona series, its a pretty dead on match with the iron helmet.
As much as I would absolutely _love_ this to be the case, with stuff like this, it's usually some Japanese mythological thing that us westerners just don't know about.
The slave masks that both characters wear are part of European history. It has nothing to do with Japan culture, though they could of taken inspiration from Europe’s dark history.
@@Unchainedful The only reference to iron masks being used on slaves that I could find was in America. I don't see the "that's a stretch" that most comments say... At first you think "oh, similar trope, giant with no brain" but the last part is crucial, the way they move, the rhythm of the forge (sound), it can be a coincidence but I highly doubt Gabora wasn't the reference for this character.
In the thought of the reasoning behind it is probably because the character doesn't fit into most of Link's adventures but in reality the character fit better in a way harder more terrifying game series also I had a feeling about that or just was programmer that noticed the similarities and made a bunch of references in dialog

I never noticed this! But there’s definitely some correlation between them being giants that forge and wear masks. Just an interesting concept.

Well here's me finding out for the first time that that's supposed to be his face.
Dark souls itself is one big zelda reference. Bits of berserk too
The entire series may as well be based off Zelda 2, because that game is ridiculously hard. Just like Dark Souls.
Dark Souls isn't even that hard if you just pay attention to your surroundings tbh
Same goes for most Souls-likes.
Dark souls 2 and Zelda 2...

The version of Majora's mask that I had, Link could Drink the Gold Dust and become Invincible. Maybe the Goron Drunk it.
Cool video. I never noticed this.
Majora's Mask. The Dark Souls of the Zelda series...Yes, I said that.
The only thing they have in common is that they're both giant blacksmiths, it's not really enough to consider them connected.
Nah theyre both just dressed like blacksmiths who smelt extremely hot molten metals that can easily permanently scar you lol
One thing to note. Majora's Mask came out in 2000 where Dark Souls came out in 2011. He was the first one.
I remember SuperBunnyHop making this comparison years ago.
