I saw a G. I've seen it all. Dope describes my rhymes, making all you MCS cold drop like dimes. You know MCSC is back again, and battling me on the microphone is like committing a sin. Scott/MCSC
This was the beginning of the great Bear teams. They won 6 of thier last 8 games this season and 3 or 4 in a row to end the season. That set the tone for the 10-6 season in '84 when "The Monsters" accumulated 72 QB sacks on thier way to winning the Central Division and playing the 49ers in the NFC Championship Game.
Thanks for this upload. I have plenty of Bears games from the 80's on DVD, but I don't have this one. I can tell this wasn't recorded from CBS 2 Chicago because the picture always sucked and the color was always pale....LOL
This game was blacked out in Chicago. The Week 1 game was also blacked out. This was mentioned on the Week 3 game against New Orleans which is also on You Tube
1983 was the year Bears had two home TV blackouts. They had three other home games that just beat the 72 hour blackout deadline - Week 5 vs Patriots (WMAQ bought remaining tickets); Week 9 vs Eagles & Week 13 vs 49ers (other businesses buying the unsold tickets). Week 16 vs Packers sold out but had some 15,000 no shows. Temperature at 2 degrees above had something to do with it.
@@tnav1271 thanks for the history, guys. I have that Packers game you mentioned and it was indeed cold. I always thought blackouts were stupid. You can't FORCE people to come to the games to watch a crappy product, which is what the owner of the Blackhawks did for years until he died and his son took over. I doubt the effectiveness of blackouts and I am not sure if the effectiveness was ever measured.
You can see the Bears were very sloppy in this game, but you can also see some promising potential. Tampa Bay's D was very good. Outplayed the Bears young defense.
Tim Ryan and Johnny Morris did 56 Bears games together from 1977-1986. The last one was in December of 1986 and it was ironically, Tampa Bay at Chicago.
2:04:30-Leslie Frazier. Underrated player. Champion in his own right, both as a player, and a coach.

Did Tim Ryan do all the Bears commentary for CBS
