Well, the scientists involved, when they are optimistic, predict that this will be a thing in about 50 to 100 years. When pessimistic, they will give estimates in an undefined distant future.
I'm glad this video didn't overhype "AI", as in "AI will cure cancer, disease, and aging". It can act as a "pattern recognition" aid. Or "combinatorial" explorer to search for drug candidates, to try out. It's one tool, amongst many, in what is a long process, which includes lots of real world testing (clinical trials), the most time consuming part.
Umm right now it just gets through large data to find patterns etc., but in the future it certainly will do much bigger things like diagnosing and curing disease and it could happen fast bc ai learns fast.
"We cannot delay death, but we can do something about aging"? If there is no aging, then wouldn't that delay death? If I would die from aging at, say, 146, and then due to aging being cured, I don't, will I die to a car crash on the same day instead? Or how is it supposed to work that curing aging would not delay death? This makes no sense.
You're right, of course, that doesn't make sense. Dramatically slowing down or reversing (preferably) aging will obviously extend lifespan. To a lot of people significantly extending healthy lifespan sounds _crazy,_ or like complete fantasy, or something -- so the whole lifespan extension part often gets deemphasized in such conversations.
people live too short you study hard ,after you get money and you start to enjoy life when you are at 40.people should live much longer ,what a waste of resources
I have been fascinated by anti-ageing science for a long time. One problem that I see never spoken of is political/societal opposition. I have spoken to so many people that think that it is "unnatural" to cure ageing, that I think this will be the biggest challenge.
It is only a challenge when the people u are talking to are not aware of the state of mankind's fertility. The days of our species are numbered, fertility is declining by 1% each year which means our species's population will peak at the end of this century and from there it will decline.
Very cool and fun way to spread news. Very cool question!!! Applied IA to drug discovery is a very good idea but, how can you do it in a small lab?
Well if you live to aged 80, that takes you up to 2065. Its conceivable that by then we will have the medical interventions to extend lifespan by another 20 years. Which takes you to 2085. And maybe those additional 20 years will allow for further research to give you another 20 years. And then the process continues. This concept is known as longevity escape velocity.
I was born in 2002, and I hope I can slowing aging before my thirty years old, so that when the technology allows me to reverse my biological age, I can keep the image of my 20s. And I hope the costs of treatment would be lower than 1.5 million dollar(current value) so that it will be affordable for me
Well if we could reverse aging - we'd surely not have the future workforce issues that were projected? Not having enough babies now means less workforce in the future. Pretty much across the globe. So I'd love to work till 150 years old - I hope they do cure aging and give us a chance to live to 200 at least! Love life. Its so precious. :)
Big corporations shouldn't expanding too large too quickly, no wonder they're getting too powerful, it's not good. You're right that they may deny the good benefit for everyday people. Big Pharma is good example, they're trillion dollars industry, they're never satisfied making profits and don't care for people's health.

Wonder what will happen to the Earth's population and nation's attitudes towards it once they make the breakthrough to greatly increase lifespans. Will countries have to implement a "one-child" or even no-child policy? Will only rich countries have access to these drugs/treatments and dominate the populations of Earth?
Things are as they are by chance people, we humans are a moment in the evolution of matter. A moment when matter, having already become alive, then thinking, begins to understand its own intimate structures to be able to act, even empirically, on the process of degeneration that we call aging and, therefore, on its death. It would be enough to get started, and quickly, and thoroughly. In any case, it will happen, in not long, a generation or two at most hopefully. So, by speeding up the process a little, we might be entitled to it, we who are talking.

So many environmental problems, including over population and starvation. So of course AI will help corporations profit and make sure only the rich and powerful live longer.
Not necessarily. The western world is facing an demographic collapse since fewer people are being born. If you are able to improve the health and longevity of your workers you improve your profits 🧐
@@RobJohnson92 I doubt that would change that demographic shift. Most people would still retire from the workforce at the same age and then live longer into retirement, burning up retirement savings and requiring more public assistance. So, only the rich and powerful could afford to live extended lives, while working age adults would see more income going to support longer living, lower income, elders.
