I might add: I had every childhood disease, smoked 3 packs of cigs a day for 20 years, tried and used most every drug in the 70s, don't exercise much, and eat what I want. Having a positive mindset is important but it's not enough. If you don't eat a balanced diet, don't exercise, don't sleep well and if you're smoking and drinking, no matter how happy you are, you will not live long.
One of the missing pieces of this discussion is that so many of the "age related diseases" are actually LIFESTYLE related diseases. The lifestyle one has lived for decades simply catches up with one the longer they've been around. Research already shows that lifestyle (physical activity, diet, social connections, smoking, etc) has a huge impact on morbidity and mortality on a population level.
The reason that it “catches” up with us though is typically because our body’s defenses have degraded to the point where they can’t fight certain issues off.
You are correct that lifestyle choices can lower your life span, but, regardless, your body will still degrade and pass. That is the puzzle that scientists are working on at the moment

One thing which would need to be changed is employer age discrimination. They hide it, but it is very real and can start when the employee is in their 40s.
The research that the scientifics are doing is very interesting. I didn’t know about this, but I’m very surprised at the posibility of slowing down or even stopping the aging proccess. What caught my attention was that they are not only interested in aging, but also in a healthy aging and about the positive effects on our society.
I retired at 48, and for 10 years I work out, swim every day, eat right, sleep enough, avoiding all financial and family stresses. It simply does not work, I age every year, and I notice it. I am not afraid of aging and dying, I just monitor myself for fun because I do not need to work. Probably to prevent aging one has to use a lot of medications.

It is disappointing that they barely covered limited calorie intake. Intermittent fasting promotes autophagy. Autophagy is well known in the medical field to reduce inflammation and increase lifespan. It is literally a mode your body enters where it starts to recycle old damaged cells, One of the big advantages is it reduces the risk of cancer.

I 19 and I don’t want to live forever just want to live a long life that’s it. My great grandma died at age 104. I would likely like to live slightly more than that. And ofc look young. I don’t really want to he told and frail and always want to look 19😂

Honestly I would like better to stop having the fear of death. I hate to have panic attacks about it. About how much painful it could be, or the feeling about not sharing with my love ones ever again or experiencing anything else for the rest of eternity. How can science help me remove this evolutionary trait that makes me and my body want to live? How to make dead much less painful?
You need to stop being scared of the inevitable, and let go of your ego, nobody deserves eternal life and this will backfire, imagine how powerful dictators will be and how politicians will dominate generations, wealth will only build and solidify into those who already own it. However, it is codify within our genes after millions of years of evolution, and it has to be that way because if living things don't have the "natural urge to stay alive " then life as we know it wouldn't be posible. I understand why people would like to live a few years more, specially if we can stay younger for longer. But living forever would not solve any problem. I even think death help us give meaning to our lives, make us appreciate it more.

Eat less, eat only within a small window of time(8 hour window) be skinny, sleep well, stay hydrated. What can science add to it. Not much just prove my examples.
Hold on for now, if you're older. Do everything you can to extend your lifespan, but even more so, the span of your health: the window is almost here. I’m currently in the process of writing a story about some man who was imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit… for over 40 years… since he was 18 years old. The bitter old man rejected all forms of help and support, be it massive sums of money or emotional support. He was hellbent on never accepting getting old in prison and defying the odds of time itself to regain a youthful body and exuberance at all costs… to the point that nothing else this world has to offer would’ve changed his mind; not even a promise of unlimited power over the world.
I mean, if you could be "young". Living and working as a 30 years old at your age of 100. I don't think that anyone would mind it. + it's not a rule to fall behind with technology and new stuff in life. For example my grandpa was really young minded. Played video games and was always curious about the future and new stuff. Let's be as open as possible, not just for new stuff but for everything. People, life, let's be as friendly as possible with each other :) hopefully we will live this reverse aging technology.
The vast majority of aging can be greatly slowed down by improving our DNA repair enzymes and ensuring our telomeres maintain a decent length. However, certain cells cannot replicate or regrow once you get old (nerves/muscles) thus we'd need stem cells to do that. However, there are also non-enzymatic chemical reaction byproducts that form within your cells that are irreversible - these will always cause us to "age". Most of these improvements would require fully genetically engineered humans to actually function/work, which is quite far off at the moment.
Actually, with partial reprogramming you can rejuvenate neurons to a youthful state, the problem is that the capacity of the brain is limited, even if we can maintan a youthful state forever this will reach a informational limit sooner or later, that is why synthetic biology is so important and this field is also growing very fast

At present we have the ability to slow aging through diet, exercise, supplements, and a few interventions such as parabiosis. We may one day be able to stop aging, or slow it to the point where it's close to stopping. We can reverse some of the effects and symptoms of aging, but I would be surprised if we can actually reverse aging altogether (e.g., a 60-year-old becoming 20 again). Removing all the accumulated damage to our cells or replacing damaged cells with new ones would be extremely difficult. You could do it locally, perhaps, but in the entire body? Unlikely. We should be able to reach the point where we can replace aged and damaged organs with new ones, though. It's conceivable that in the not-too-distant future, we will see people living to 150.
To slow aging is not about getting less wrinkles, it's about your body being able to maintain its power to self repair. So you should not have to replace cells yourself, your body should deal with most of the additional damage. I doubt it will help against cancer though

You're completely missing the point. The goal isn't to simply keep them alive longer. It's to keep them alive AND healthy, which means they can remain productive and retire later. It also means they're using way less healthcare resources thereby further reducing the burden on tax payers. This is a compete no brainer.

I wouldn't be so fast on that though, considering the video completely skipped the psychological point of view. which is hugely impacting on actual productivity. How about adapting to new technologies, lifestyles, and generally just being tired of your job (people live longer and healthier already, still what happened when in France they tried to push retirement ahead?), how about mental agility (the older you are, the harder to learn, is this aslo going to be improved)? and even if people end up working, let's say until their 90s, I would really not undervalue the impact that all would have on economic mobility. if the technology plays out well and old people remain to use their lifelong expertize to add value to the economy, that might actually risk increasing the viscosity, if not straight away crystallising (depending on effectiveness) the present economic and power structures
Too much time and money is spend on longevity. We should spend our time and money on health. What’s the meaning of getting old if you have poor health eating pills visiting doctors and surgeons. Still fail to see the point to try stopping or reversing aging (treating deseases is a different thing). Dying gives life a sense of urgency and worth. On the other hand, we are in the midst of the greatest generational wealth transfer in history: from the young to the old. Can you imagine if the old (and most likely the well off old) lived to 150 or 200? This can only be possible with a deep restructuring of society, that specially the old are unwilling to go through. But, I wonder how the issue of simple wear and tear on the body is addressed in aging, as the years go by? Not all age-related ailments are intracellular. The interaction between different cell types/masses and extra-cellular damage that accumulates over time, isn't going to be repaired by simple reversing of aging within cells(?) Just as a physical injury has to be attended to medically, at ANY age. Microinjuries within and between tissues, accumulate over time. How would reversing the age of cells address the changes in tissues incurred by such accumulating microinjuries?

So, I understand that because cells are younger they will be better at repairing injuries accumaled over time, but what about alterations to physical structures to tissue masses due to injury/accumulated injuries("wear and tear")? An example would be a PVD(posterior vitreous detachment, which I have in the left eye). PVDs are common after age 50 due to gradually shrinking a vitreous humor and leave you with additional floaters and "flashing light" sensations. You could reverse the age of the involved cells, but what would actually "reattach" the vitreous to the back of the eye(other than complex surgery)? Reversing the age of cells would perhaps normalize the vitreous to a more normal volume and hydration, but it is still going to remain unattached to the back of the eye. @s3328

Mindfulness and breathing habits, intermittent fasting like 16-8 or even OMAD, and low carb or keto are key for a natural solution.

I don't know who that is. In order to look younger than your peers one can do a few things including regular exercise. If your'e interested in the biological age you should at the Horvath's clock or similar biological indicators of age.

It’s theorized that things work similarly in humans. It’s a big trend right now in the health and longevity community.

Reverse aging will prevent a vast amount of cancer cases. 200 billion dollars a year goes into cancer. A hundreth of that goes into anti-aging, and we are already seeing progress.

Honestly I would like better to stop having the fear of death. I hate to have panic attacks about it. About how much painful it could be, or the feeling about not sharing with my love ones ever again or experiencing anything else for the rest of eternity. How can science help me remove this evolutionary trait that makes me and my body want to live? How to make dead much less painful?
You need to stop being scared of the inevitable, and let go of your ego, nobody deserves eternal life and this will backfire, imagine how powerful dictators will be and how politicians will dominate generations, wealth will only build and solidify into those who already own it. However, it is codify within our genes after millions of years of evolution, and it has to be that way because if living things don't have the "natural urge to stay alive " then life as we know it wouldn't be posible. I even think death help us give meaning to our lives, make us appreciate it more.

I’m currently in the process of writing a story about some man who was imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit… for over 40 years… since he was 18 years old. The bitter old man rejected all forms of help and support, be it massive sums of money or emotional support. The vast majority of aging can be greatly slowed down by improving our DNA repair enzymes and ensuring our telomeres maintain a decent length. However, certain cells cannot replicate or regrow once you get old (nerves/muscles) thus we'd need stem cells to do that. However, there are also non-enzymatic chemical reaction byproducts that form within your cells that are irreversible - these will always cause us to "age".
Most of these improvements would require fully genetically engineered humans to actually function/work, which is quite far off at the moment.
Hopefully it’s never a possibility.

8-12 years for partial cell reprogramming resulting in a net longevity escape velocity for the relatively healthy. 20 years for *full* rejuvination. Both may happen sooner depending on how well AI accelerates biotech and how easy reversing aging turns out to be.
It will probably take 30-40 years from now to also structurally reverse aging so that you *look* 20, because otherwise you will be carrying around some misshaped skin and bone. If full sci-fi nanotech is needed for restructuring, this might actually take 50 years.
In any of those cases, a bright future awaits most people who can live healthily for the next 20 years into the new age.
Personally, I look forward to having a biology which I simply never got to enjoy in my youth as I was constantly having a headache or the flu, as well as full of stress and dissatisfaction. When genetics are no longer a limiting factor, we can finally be equal and free.

At present we have the ability to slow aging through diet, exercise, supplements, and a few interventions such as parabiosis.
We may one day be able to stop aging, or slow it to the point where it's close to stopping.
We can reverse some of the effects and symptoms of aging, but I would be surprised if we can actually reverse aging altogether (e.g., a 60-year-old becoming 20 again). Removing all the accumulated damage to our cells or replacing damaged cells with new ones would be extremely difficult. You could do it locally, perhaps, but in the entire body? Unlikely. We should be able to reach the point where we can replace aged and damaged organs with new ones, though.
It's conceivable that in the not-too-distant future, we will see people living to 150.

To slow aging is not about getting less wrinkles, it's about your body being able to maintain its power to self repair. So you should not have to replace cells yourself, your body should deal with most of the additional damage. I doubt it will help against cancer though

You're completely missing the point. The goal isn't to simply keep them alive longer. It's to keep them alive AND healthy, which means they can remain productive and retire later. Too much time and money is spend on longevity. We should spend our time and money on health. What’s the meaning of getting old if you have poor health eating pills visiting doctors and surgeons. Still fail to see the point to try stopping or reversing aging (treating deseases is a different thing). Dying gives life a sense of urgency and worth. On the other hand, we are in the midst of the greatest generational wealth transfer in history: from the young to the old. But, I wonder how the issue of simple wear and tear on the body is addressed in aging, as the years go by? Not all age-related ailments are intracellular. The interaction between different cell types/masses and extra-cellular damage that accumulates over time, isn't going to be repaired by simple reversing of aging within cells(?) Just as a physical injury has to be attended to medically, at ANY age. Microinjuries within and between tissues, accumulate over time. How would reversing the age of cells address the changes in tissues incurred by such accumulating microinjuries?

So, I understand that because cells are younger they will be better at repairing injuries accumaled over time, but what about alterations to physical structures to tissue masses due to injury/accumulated injuries("wear and tear")?
An example would be a PVD(posterior vitreous detachment, which I have in the left eye). PVDs are common after age 50 due to gradually shrinking a vitreous humor and leave you with additional floaters and "flashing light" sensations. You could reverse the age of the involved cells, but what would actually "reattach" the vitreous to the back of the eye(other than complex surgery)? Reversing the age of cells would perhaps normalize the vitreous to a more normal volume and hydration, but it is still going to remain unattached to the back of the eye. @s3328
