Great video, my c6 was getting stuck in park all the time so annoying and embarrassing when you wanted to start up and leave but was stuck in park.. I ended up changing my shift assembly with a new one and no more issues… I’m in a corvette club and more people who own c6 are having the same issues, I’m wondering why there was no recall on this?
Although I fixed mine by wiring it up, I would recommend anyone with an automatic to get one because sooner or later, this will be a very annoying problem! Better to do it at your convenience than getting stuck in the middle of the night, in the middle of nowhere!
Always another super informative video. I cannot understand how they don't have a lot more subscribers. I have purchased parts for my C4 & C5 from them. ALWAYS PERFECT...
About time there's a real fix for this problem. It's happened to me a couple times and was considering the "hack" fixes .I will be ordering a new harness so will be looking for the replacement video. Thanks
OMG! You are literally sitting in front of my dream car! Red w/ white inserts, what is it a 58, 59 Corvette? God, what a beauty! Yet again, another great video. Thanks for all you do for us Vette lovers.
It is a BEAUTIFUL 1959. This car is in for fluid leaks--the restorer chose to go with cork gaskets, and then the car didn't get driven for a long time, so leaks were inevitable. Everything else on this car is just pristine! Lyle
Lyle thanks for this information. I have a 2007 automatic that had the stuck in park problem. After researching the issue I cut the pawl. I understood that was not ideal but since I am the only driver of the Vette I could live with it. This worked for about a year and then I got a DIC message that said shift to park even though I was in park. I realized that one of the microswitches wasn't working. Everything I read said the shifter assembly wasn't serviceable so I bought a new GM shifter assembly and installed it. The downside is that I knew that it would eventually fail at some point in the future. Since I plan on keeping the car this made me uneasy. This new wire harness seems like the solution. I will be ordering one.
What year is your C6? I found videos on how to remove the center console covers and expose the parts we are talking about but they changed things in the structure of the console in 08 such as the boot and know and I can't find a how to video to disassemble them.
Hey Lyle. Thanks for the warning about the subscription issue. I clicked the arrow next to the subscription tab and noticed the system changed me to personalized. Which is why I was not getting all videos. I changed it back to "ALL" so I do not miss any of your videos. Thanks for the heads-up. Great video on a problem I will be avoiding by ordering & installing your full kit.
😆😆😆 It's always the way, isn't it? Like finally ordering the remote for the TV that you lost after searching everywhere and then finding it the moment you unwrap the new one, making it unreturnable. Lyle
As long as you're not replacing the shift cable grommet you don't have to remove the shifter. I didn't even have to remove the shifter grip to install this kit.@KevinNewcomb-mz1xl
I had to replace my shifter on my 2008 last year. I might get one of these units as a back-up in case it happens to my GM replacement shifter. Thanks for the info!
WOW glad I found your channel, you know your stuff. On the very next "DIY" video I watched, Sal - oops, the GUY's "fix" was to "cut out the tumor on the GM part". That's one backyard solution (no cost) but the BIG problem here is the guy didn't mention the downside! If I just "missed it" I will edit my comment.
THANK GOD. I was dreading the day this happens because it not a matter of if but a matter of when. I already ordered it before I left my comment. Thank you Lyle and C&S corvettes for offering this. Any chance you could send a C&S sticker with my order.
Those new micros witches I've seen them, they're pretty cool they've been around awhile with the rollers on them. As a model car maker they'd make great wheelie Wheels for Pro Street or Pro Mod race cars which I love to build!
Sounds like a great fix thank you very much for the information and I will be ordering one of those soon. I am currently buying a C6 that has the shifter problem.
Thank you for finding out and curing this long running problem, owning a C6 in the United Kingdom can be quite challenging when problems like this occurs. Just wanted to know how i can purchase the shifter harness and get it shipped to England. Thanks again Ian
Lyle the problem solver! I know it's a bit off topic, but earlier this year I had several issues with my c6 2013. One issue was I kept getting a check engine light. Afterr hooking up to a computer I was getting a misfire on bank 1. After speaking with lyle, he warned me that the misfire code could be bad torque tube couplers and bearings. To my surprise, after getting the torque tube rebuilt the check engine light turned off! And hasn't returned! Again, lyle knows his vettes!
Hello. I just ordered this part from you. I watched this a few days ago and then yesterday this happened to my vette 😂. Now I put mine in park, the shifter is stuck in park but the car is in neutral.. hope you get the "fix" video up quickly. Thx
Mines also a 2008 with 46k miles. I've had it for 2.5 years now and my uncle was the second owner and he had it for 3 years before me and only put about 1600 miles on it. I think it started falling on him after he owned it for a little while, so somewhere around 38-39k is my best guess. It's always been garage kept and still is and will maintained. Personality, besides the low grade switches I believe it might be in part caused by the great that comes up through the extremely filimsy heat shield
Great channel, thank you for the great info. I have a 2005 that gets the "fob not detected" message regularly. Also when I shut it down I have to press the switch 5 or 6 times before I get the red light on the switch. Could you one day talk about this issue
back so it again would have enough pressure to activate the switch. I also used a modified paper clip and 16 gauge to manually pull the prawl back if the switch fails again. If it fails I will buy this harness.
My 2006 Vette got stuck in park with a dead battery in my garage. 1st fix) Charged the battery and the solenoid/pawl worked again and unstuck the shifter. 2nd fix) removed the shifter boot and looped a thin wire around the pawl and threaded it through the flexible boot (cut a small whole) and can now pull the pawl back and shift any time, with or without a dead battery. Just in case I'm stuck someplace where I cant charge a dead battery.
I have an easy fix without replacing anything, mine used to get stuck quite often, but I found a solution for it. First, push the shifter forward (as far as you can), then step on the brake, then press to shift; it should unlock and shift. It always works for me and no more getting stuck. I have the 2008 convertible.
GM uses similar (perhaps identical) micro-switches in many of their vehicles. They have caused many people to have issues. The typical problem is, when the driver parks the car and attempts to shut off the vehicle the dash display reads "shift to park" (even though the car IS in park. There are a couple of TSBs describing the problem and the solution. Even though the switches are causing many problems, GM dealers have no problem charging the customer full price for any vehicle that isn't still under the factory warranty.
What are the symptoms or warning signs that the shifter is about to go bad? Thanks. I have noticed mine seems to get slightly stuck and I have to shimmy it to get out of park. I just thought it was a crappy shifter.

Do you have to take the shifter itself out to replace the harness and plug the new one in the car's harness. (On the opposite end of the micro switches?)
No, as long as you're Not replacing the shift cable grommet (below the whole shifter assembly, next to the torque tube) you don't even need to remove the shifter grip to install this microswitch assembly. E-Z
I will have several here later this week. The manufacturer is shipping the majority from their factory direct to customers, but I will have 20 here this week for local pickup. :) Lyle
My comment is different than what you are saying. Actually, you can shift through all the gear, but the information center tells you to shift to park, but car is in park accessories wants turn off.
This is something thats slowly been failing on my c6 and I never knew if I'd have a permanent fix. This is awesome. Thank you Lyle
Wish I had this part a year and a half ago! At least a good company came up with a proper fix to a crappy GM known problem. Thanks
That’s one fine ‘59 behind you, Lyle.

Just installed the kit successfully! Thank you very much, C & S Corvettes and Lyle for providing a practical solution to a vexing problem!
Sold my c6 because of this issue- glad u found the solution….
I don't have a C6 but several friends do, so I'm going to be sure to alert them to this new device. Thanks again for another great video!
This is why C&S is so important. They’re in the solutions business and not the problems business.
High Five to C&S CORVETTE & Lyle working everyday to help make your CORVETTE trouble free! Like my CORVETTE!
Simply fantastic 👍🏼🙏
Best part about owning a Corvette
Many thanks for the weekly videos.
As always, thank you for keeping us informed the the Vette world.
I just got finished replacing my micro switches last week. I was lucky and mine quit working in my garage.
Nice seeing the new wiring 👍🏼

Helpful video Lyle, keep up the good work!
Corvettes are perfect for this problem because by the time it shows up, you may be a decade or so out of warranty.
Excellent information Lyle thanks.
Thanks Lyle. I’m learning something new every time I watch your channel.
I’ll be ordering one soon as my 2005 is slowly failing! Had I not seen your video, I would have replaced the solenoid!! Thanks Lyle 😊!
Thanks Lyle this looks like the proper fix I just recently zip tied the pawl back I just ordered the kit have a great day nice find
THANK YOU! I've been afraid to take my C6 anywhere for fear of not being able to get it out of park! Getting a harness right now!
Hi all just installed shifter switch kit works great get one thanks Lyle best repair yet 👍

I thought the answer was price of gas and insurance. Your explanation makes more sense.
Great information as always. Side note, glad I got to meet you in Carlisle.
Great video as always. Thanks for bringing this innovation to the Corvette community. Just ordered 2 of these as well as the shift cable retainers..

Only works when it feels like it in my vette

Can you get to the switch arms without taking the whole assembly apart. I am thinking about cutting the boot.
How can I tell which type switches I have in the Vette? Or is it likely that only the eleven+ exist. Sad me.
