As I watch these court things I notice how technical the law and proceedings can be. I also notice that all of these cases are repeatedly delayed. They dot all the I's and cross the T's, and work hard and professionally. but they spend all day kicking the can down the road.
I don’t disagree, but there are also a lot of different steps. I believe all of these were moving to the next step. I have seen a lot of continuances where it really is just kicking the can down the road.
Why isn't there some system to ensure someone notices that a defendant hasn't reported to jail and a judge is informed so they can issue a bench warrant? It is crazy that he was unlawfully at large for two weeks and a bench warrant was only issued because his lawyer mentioned it at the next hearing .
wouldn't you expect the prosecutors or prison to follow up on this. and wasn't that why the judge was so angry. he assumed that his orders had been carried out

Devils advocate………your advocating ppl be punished for accusations, not convictions, there should be a middle ground, in other words your ok with you losing your job and house because you were accused of a crime not convicted?
I'm sympathetic to your position, but here is the main point: they haven't been convicted of the crime, only accused, so suffering such a significant negative impact when there is no proven guilt can be interpreted as unjust and extras legal punishment. Its punishment without conviction, which is illegal and immoral. I'm not saying that ANY punishment, detainment or imprisonment before conviction is unjust, illegal or immoral, but each case needs to be observed and decided individually. Unless the person is violent, potentially violent, or a flight risk, they should be given the benefit of the doubt, and not risk loss of employment and housing just for being charged with a crime. If jailing this individual runs the risk of his losing employment and housing, it may be too extreme a punishment to imprison him before conviction. I'm sure the judge has a good reason to order his imprisonment order. I wouldn't second guess him after the fact. I'm just saying that the benefit of the doubt, and preserving individual dignity, has an equal place in our system alongside the seeking of justice.
A man who doesn't suffer fools lightly and has no time for shenanigans. Edit: love it when he has a little fun like correcting the pronunciation, expressing shock that a defendant didn't show, or that jab about vacation.
This Judge is Awesome!!! Why has he not been given the opportunity to have his own TV show! He does everything he can to put people at ease in his courtroom but at the same time is firm when he has to be. The minute I hear his name mentioned on court cam, I can't wait to see what is going to happen. Nine times out of ten, he will make you laugh over something.
