Quite possibly this is one of INXS best songs and definitely the most underrated and overlooked. Possibly because it was not attached to an album I'm guessing. Great to hear the live version. Outstanding.
INXS is frequently called "the best live band ever." Their concerts sounded like perfection; especially Wembly, in my opinion. They were so dedicated to their sound that a lot of their live music sounds like it did on their records. Michael's voice was unlike any other I've ever heard. It's always amazed me that he can sound just as good live as in a recording studio. His vocal range is remarkable!! That's true talent. Miss the music INXS made together. Hutch was definitely a charismatic, sexy, indescribably enigmatic front man that is heartbreakingly missed and always will be. Props to the other members have to be given also. The multi-talented Kirk on that sax...his sax is a key sound to so many of their songs. Andrew's keyboard, maracas, tambourine, song writing etc., etc. skills. Jon, "the best drummer in the world" as quoted by Garry. Tim's guitar riffs and Garry's bass...just an incredibly talented group of guys. Wish they were all still together making their eclectic, captivating music. Unfortunately they will never be the same without Michael...he was a tremendous force of nature unlike any other. RIP Hutch...
Nobody will ever have the swagger, the voice, the presence that Michael Hutchence possessed. Truly one of the greatest frontmen of all time. RIP brother you are missed.
Always been a psychobilly and a hardcore metal head. Soft rock usually does nothing for me. But I think for any band of any genre, Inxs had the ultimate sound. Never a foot wrong both studio or live. Just simply perfection and with probably the ultimate front man of all time.
I never got into them until I was living out in the sticks years back with no cable and watched Rock Star INXS each week and loved it. JD Fortune was actually a good singer.
They were awesome live; saw their last UK gig in 1997-elegantly wasted tour at Wembley. Michaels vocals were flawless , I still have his Evian water bottle . My husband and I were infront of Michael and were both on the backstage video footage "access all areas Wembley " Miss Michael terribly ; wish could bring him back x
Saw them open up for Adam Ant in 82 and saw them in Aug of 97 and multiple other times my fav band of all time with great song like strangest party elegantly wasted suicide blonde listen like thieves and every first song on all their albums is epic loved the gift
The clip reminds me of the concert in Boston in a small theater, that I was so fortunate to hug Michale And tell him that Boston & I Loved him. I surprisingly gave him a bear hug during a song while he was on his way back to the stage down my isle. It was so unreal. A moment that I share to him in Heaven. peace to you M H
22 years after the loss of Michael Hutchence and his stellar “Is it Live, or is it memorex performances!👏🏼😎👏🏼🎤“ Many times he and the band sounded even better when performing live, than their studio recordings! And this was one of those times! RIP MH.
great: band, song, muscianship, sound, Ray Cokes, show, decade ! - such a shame MH and the original INXS no longer on the scene - music world could do with them about now !
I had a weird INXS dream last night...it was about this time period and this song reminds me of the whole feel of the dream. One of their best tracks and lyrically...it gets me with all the craziness that's going on. It's an apt track.
As good as this live performance was (and it was pretty good), the studio version is better... This live version sounds a little hollow by comparison. The background models they brought into the studio for this performance is an amusing and unusual touch. Great band though... Huge fan starting in the early mid 80's (high school), before they "exploded" with the release of "KICK" (an old girlfriend went to see them in Philly with several of her college friends and were instantly super fans). My wife got tickets to their show in '97, but I had to go out of town for work that week, so she gave them to a friend. Michael died soon after. Such a tremendous missed opportunity...
So perfect live!! It gives me the chills!! I just loved Ray's show! Indeed, MTV started to go down since 1998. I miss the good old days esp. since i was too young back then and didn't really appreciate things as i should!
i wasn't a 90's teen but i remember all those great songs my mom and dad listened to when i was in elementary school in the 90's. gotta love your parents if they liked INXS, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Deep Purple, the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughan, CCR, Frank Zappa, Led Zeppelin, Metallica etc.. ^^
The problem is INXS took a break from touring and making albums. IMO they should have continued to tour and make albums throughout the 90's even if they're level of success wasn't matched by (1987-1991). Eventually fans will come back, the music will rise again and people will pay money to see you live. Look at QUEEN they came back and they sell out stadiums
INXS made a huge mistake when they decided to perform in smaller, more intimate venues. This made people think that they no longer drew the huge stadium crowds, so therefore we're less popular. Band suicide for any group.
Splendid song,i remember of that chap on MTV when i first got cable about 15 years ago and i remember thinking at the time why thay had stopped selling high powered sniper rifles. what a fucking ball-bag
+Wahoo Gonzales i aint mad at freddie...not one bit...bit freddie didn't have any soul to his voice...pretty much str8 vanilla...range power vibrato...no doubt...but vanilla...
Ian Smith To each his own; I've always said that Michael Hutchence was the last great frontman of his time since the death of Freddie, but both are phenomenal performers and singers I think both sound better live then on a studio recording
+Wahoo Gonzales totally agree...the last great frontman...but then Eddie v....came about...and Chris.c...few others..but def a dying breed..if not dead already...
Such an underrated tune that never got the airplay it deserved.
Quite possibly this is one of INXS best songs and definitely the most underrated and overlooked. Possibly because it was not attached to an album I'm guessing. Great to hear the live version. Outstanding.
WE MISS U MICHAEL!!! #HUT #4EVER #INXS

I agree, strong voice

I agree. INXS is such a great, unique band, an all time favorite. And i'm a hard rock, metal guy.
I never got into them until I was living out in the sticks years back with no cable and watched Rock Star INXS each week and loved it. JD Fortune was actually a good singer.
Os caras são feras demais. Que som fantástico!!!. Que voz incrível do Michael Hutchence.!!!. Esta banda poderia estar no sucesso até hoje. 😍
Love the band introductions, Jon is adorable and Michael's " Hi " makes me smile
They were awesome live; saw their last UK gig in 1997-elegantly wasted tour at Wembley. Michaels vocals were flawless , I still have his Evian water bottle . My husband and I were infront of Michael and were both on the backstage video footage "access all areas Wembley "

And ten years on from your comment, the same can still be said 😎❤️🆒
with that voice and talent, you may think he is a prick to talk to... but you can tell he's not, just a regular nice guy.
Saw them open up for Adam Ant in 82 and saw them in Aug of 97 and multiple other times my fav band of all time with great song like strangest party elegantly wasted suicide blonde listen like thieves and every first song on all their albums is epic loved the gift
That was my 1st concert - seeing Adam Ant w/ INXS opening for him😁
A M A Z I N G & P E R F E C T live's⭐️👑🖤🎙💜👑⭐️🙏💐👌💯
this is the sound of a band live... a TRUE band... amazing take on the song... which by the way is my fav INXS song...
The American public wasted an amazing talent in the 90's with INXS, brilliant era from them.
????
what a voice!! what a loss!!
The clip reminds me of the concert in Boston in a small theater, that I was so fortunate to hug Michale And tell him that Boston & I Loved him. What a voice mr Micheal legend hutchence
Only recently realised that behind all the popstar smokescreens he had an incredible voice....
22 years after the loss of Michael Hutchence and his stellar “Is it Live, or is it memorex performances!👏🏼😎👏🏼🎤“ Many times he and the band sounded even better when performing live, than their studio recordings! And this was one of those times! RIP MH.
I think their live performances are sooo much better than the studio recordings.
Y luego le sigue Paula, sera q estan juntos en el mas alla?
Great voice such a shame he's gone. What a great band.
Michael hurtchence faz falta demais para música mundial
great: band, song, muscianship, sound, Ray Cokes, show, decade ! - such a shame MH and the original INXS no longer on the scene - music world could do with them about now !
INXSXS obviously had a sense of humor. That host did a lot of talking, but they managed to bring humor out of it.
I had a weird INXS dream last night...it was about this time period and this song reminds me of the whole feel of the dream. One of their best tracks and lyrically...it gets me with all the craziness that's going on. It's an apt track.
Yeah, let's rock. This we miss a lot these days: real rock music and real rockers. Where they have alll gone? For Michael we now.
They always sounded better live....bizarre I was lucky to see them twice , summerXS wembley was the best live performance by any band ever
My gawd INXS at the top of the game with their (IMO) best single ever...
sounds brillant 🤘

Forever Michael 🙏🕯 26/1/22
australians and their english ancestors : this australian M.T.V. ,Vj "who says" he is the reincarnation of the english Stan Laurel or a medium ?
Well that was the end of INXS you could say when Michael departed the building
5:45 VIKING JUICE!!!
Brakuje tamtych lat
You do not want to be stuck in the middle of this
Could you tell me where was it that interview?
Quiet possible the worst camera work in a a broadcast in the history of TV.
Rare live high pitch on chorus
That was Kirk singing background
Why Gary say he usually plays drums but today he was playing bass?
Jon is drums!!! 😒
He was joking with the host
