    Basicly rich vs poor cause lots of people still don't have video monitors, dish washer, bottle makers and use baby food instead of cooking organic meals.

    • @Nicolacurran1
      @Nicolacurran1 Рік тому

      Not sure it's rich versus poor, more like first time parents versus experienced parents. I have a 7 year old and was so much more strict with everything than I am now with my 9 month old. We didn't have a bottle maker with our first because I breastfed, with this baby I do because unfortunately I could not breastfeed and a relative gave us their bottle maker. It didn't last long but it was such a convenience and definitely worth the €100 for a new one. We have lived in our house for 17 years and only got a dishwasher before the new baby arrived. It wasn't the expense. We have a small kitchen so needed to clear out a cupboard to make room for it. Even still I do not put the bottles in because the dishwasher detergent can sometimes leave a residue so I always wash them by hand and put them in the steriliser. Using baby food is way more expensive where I live. I don't do organic but I steam lots of veg and blend it up, freeze it in portions and it's way cheaper than shop bought. Not that I wouldn't use shop bought, it's just that I can make 5 times the amount if I throw a load of veg in the pressure cooker for the cost.

    This isn't even just "boomer" parents. This is how a lot of people still raise their babies. The technology and dishwasher is Just an added bonus if you have it and can afford it.

      I agree , not sure if I'm classed as a boomer I had my children in the 90's . I didn't feed the "canned" food to my kids . I don't agree with waking a child to make your life easier , a young baby requires a lot of sleep . Much of their development happens while they are sleeping.

    Such cute little girls! They are so fortunate to have such loving, caring dads and grandparents.
    I'm in my thirties and I guess I parent my twins like a "boomer", too.
    I made my twins bottles with the boiling water, cleaned them all by hand, did not have a monitor at all, did not wake my sleeping twins, fed them jar food and occasionally made my own, gave them wooden spoons and spatulas while I cooked in the kitchen, and washed and lotioned them with Johnson's soap.
    This video was fun nostalgia, but of when my twins were babies, also.

    This was a good concept but i still don't think this really fit the theory of "boomer parenting." Boomers had more of a hands off approach in everything including emotional/physical support, communication, etc. You'd have to try this with older kids to really see the difference because it's easier to have the same parenting traits on toddlers and babies.

      Very true . I also disagree with waking a baby to make your life easier , babies need their sleep and if you get them into a routine from the off it's not the issue that made out here. When my first Grandchild was born he would have his last feed at 11pm-midnight then would sleep until around 6-7am as he got older the last feed was at 8-9pm and he would sleep until 6-7am .

    This video is hilarious. Seriously, who truly heats formula bottles?! As a mom of 4 kids, currently 20, 13, 9, & 6. As a low income mom, the majority of this video is for privileged parents, no way is a formula machine necessar. Also hand washingbottles gets them cleaner, i found the dishwasher left a nasty film. And Seriously, never wake a sleeping baby. Hahahha

    • @Nicolacurran1
      @Nicolacurran1 Рік тому

      Yep we only have a dishwasher a year after 17 years in the same house but I still wash the bottles by hand and there's no way I'm waking my baby unless it's 5pm! I don't think it's necessarily privileged parents as formula making machines aren't that expensive where I live and they do save a lot of time but I agree it's not that necessary to heat formula.

    Well as my boomer parents only bottle fed us till 6 months and then moved to cereal & jarred food…a bottle was a “comfort” thing, like a binky, sucking a thumb & caused bottle rot & buck teeth, true or not……manual bottle washing didn’t last too long…& we slept w/o a monitor, in a cotton sleep sack, which was used to easily change a diaper, in a plastic covered cloth diaper, or in traditional footy Jammie’s of cold, yeah we loved pots & pans, bowls and a wooden spoon. But I’m the youngest & born in 1970. Only TV we got was Saturday morning cartoons or sesame street style shows

      Unless they had them young or are late gen x, boomers are parents of millennials. Gen parents skips a gen, so boomers are parents to millennials and gen x are parents to gen z and millennials are parents to gen alpha.

    Is it bad that the first thing that came to mind was physically "disciplining" your children to make them behave and defending why that's apparently not messed up the first thing that came to mind after reading the title?
    Glad to see that isn't what this video's about. Idk if I'd consider them super boomer-y, just without the luxuries of modern tech.

      Not all boomers did the physical discipline thing, my grandma didn't and her parents didn't either. My great grandfather was super against corporal punishment, wouldn't let his kids teachers do it either, the one time my great uncle was caned my great grandad went down to the school and said if they ever touched his kids again he'd be coming back to see how they liked it.

    I feel like the Boomer/ Gen X ways are so much better. It's a touch lazier & cheaper parenting, but gives the baby more independence. its okay to do a hybrid of newer parenting tips /tactics as well.
    Personally, im Gen Z and feel homemade baby food is WAY healthier, along with how kids shouldnt have a lot of screen time

    Wow. This video seems to be quite a bit out of touch. 🫤 These dads do seem lovely, but far removed from what most people’s lives are like. They appear to be quite financially privileged and not aware that most people *gasp* scoop the formula out by hand! And prepare and clean the bottles this way by hand too. And store-bought baby food?! Also *gasp* definitely still common too. 🙄 Most of these things are just how average people parent, yes - even today. It’s not a “Boomer” thing. It’s just an average, not super wealthy thing. 🫤 Basically they are just comparing rich people parenting vs average people parenting. There’s nothing very Boomer or 80s about this. 😂

      I was thinking the same thing. So glad someone has time to make all their baby food from scratch and then also have a milk machine for the formula and a dishwasher and toys that are not pots and pans.... But for the majority of people they may have one of these things not all of them. In the 90's my daughter had to be on a special formula and it only came in powdered form. I had to buy a "special machine"..... it was a blender.
