I was born and brought up in Umzinto on the KZN Mid South Coast and moved to Cape Town 24 years ago. I last visited St Lucia in 1966 and stayed at a place called SEE MEEU on the St Lucia estuary. I can still remember I caught my own fish and made a pot of fish briyani which I shared with other guests staying there. Thanks for the video. I still have in Cape Town a wood carving of a kudu and rhino which I bought from roadside craft stands. These are knee height carvings. I have seen people actually sculpting these crafts right there on the roadside.
We stay in Durban 😁 we fish almost every weekend on the South Coast beaches. Ping us with your details here an we can make some plans: reelbondfishing@gmail.com
Lol ok that's awesome ...also have my own channel....just search "Keegan Pillay" or "KEEGS REEL LIFE".......🙂...also fished the south coast the last two weeks which was awesome...will email you guys soon to make arrangements 😊👍
🎣 if you want to buy a bait suction pump, check them for suction power first, have someone place a hand Completely Closed over the bottom end of pipe. Then pull the handle out, not all pumps have the same suction power. When you pull the handle out, it will slide up some way because the air between the hand and washer system will be pulled up. If the washer system is strong, you will feel the strong resistance of the handle being pulled out. I have made my own washer systems for both pumps. I made some washers from plastic paint bucket lids as they are thick enough and flexible too. I made some by hand, which took a long time as you can imagine. Then I used a saw hole cutter which was much better to use. They have various hole diameter cutter rings. I made one washer from slip slops for both pumps, it goes inbetween the hard washers but must be pushed down tight, then make a mark on the plastic shaft to drill another same size hole for the split pin. To make soft washers, put slop on floor, push/twist pipe thru. Will have to find middle for hole. Check the threads on the metal rod in the steel pumps, especially with an older well used pump. Always clean the threads before unscrewing the nut, as sand and mud will help to grind the threads down. My steel pump's threads were well worn, I had to drill a small hole for a split pin to go thru. Or use a thread cutter, twist on to clean or make new threads. I have a steel and a plastic pvc pump. On the plastic pump I filed and sanded about three mm off the bottom edge to the inside edge, all around, but not making a sharp inner edge, as it will become blunt over time with use. My pvc pump pushes into sand and mud much easier which makes a difference over alot of pumping. I did the same by filing and sanding the sloping edge of my plastic rod holder pipe, it pushes into sand and mud much easier. 🎣
🎣 I have seen in some videos, some anglers are tying a thin nylon rope onto their sinkers, making a Short loop. To form the knot, make one over loop, pass the tag end thru twice, - shud be enough. A Short nylon line (etc), is tied onto that loop, swivel attached onto line. This makes up the sliding sinker trace. I prefer to make all my sinker trace lines as short as I can tie them. I have been doing same. I use Alnet 3mm diameter nylon utility rope, available in Checkers and some hardware shops. 2mm nylon rope wud be perfect if available. Leave the two rope ends out of the knot, just long enough to push points together, burn the ends to melt, squeeze together with cloth to seal. The reason for rope loop is better than thin nylon tied directly onto a sinker, especially when fishing among or close to rocks as the sinker line knot gets damaged against the rocks etc, ... 🙂 🎣
🎣 how I tie my loop, - Measure 30cm to 35cm of rope, 35cm is enough. Some loops I tied with 30cm. I hold the parallel lines together just above the sinker hole, make the loop, to pass the line ends thru twice; making a short loop. It takes some doing to tie the knot evenly as rope is thicker than nylon fishing line. Tighten knot by pulling tight from inside loop outwards and pull on the two tag ends before sealing with lighter flame. I tried with 2mm plastic twined rope but I found it harder to work with, I made one sinker loop with it. 🎣

🎣 the Karanteen - streepie, has narrow horizontal yellow stripes on it. It is an excellent live bait and fillet bait as the flesh is firm with a strong scent. It is different to the fish caught in video, which has some vertical stripes, from what I could see, 🎣
We checked up on this and you are right! It is a striped seabream after doing some research. Shall change the name in the description 😁 thank you for pointing it out

Nicole, awesome video and the positive input for the fishing community. Just one thing, I noticed you guys measure the shad incorrectly. Should be from the nose to the V in the tail, not the tip end of the tail. Otherwise well done !! Just relook your measurement ways for all fish.
