Just some advice to my fellow beginners to get started on polyrhythms: it can help to think in terms of the lowest common multiple. In the first example, instead of thinking of the left hand doing 2-beat measures and the right hand doing a 3-beat measures, think in terms of 6-beat measures. Then the left hand goes on 1 and 4, while the right f goes on 1, 3, and 5.

1 . Start with a slow tempo . 2 . Practice against a metronome or recording. 3. Best dividing for a more Accurate Rhythm Timing Performance. 4 . Practice Rhythm and Timing on different instruments . 5 . Learn to identify Different time Signatures.

Great lesson, thanks! When noodling around I tend to find myself firmly stuck in the pop progression, so I'll definitely give the 3/2 poly a go now. I tend to count the pop progression as "1-2-3, 1-2-3, 1-2", which is probably 'wrong', I know I should count in "1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &" but somehow my brain clicked and it's hard to re-learn. Still, the end result is the same.
