Deeds of kindness to display, Pity suing, Mercy wooing, Who the call can disobey? But the opportune redress Of virtuous beauty in distress, Earth will praise and Heav'n repay. Deeds of kindness. . . da capo
Fabulous. Why would you remove this? This is great stuff! I have seen him in SF with David Daniels and Ruth Ann Swenson and he held his own. Look at him now! Sure, this is different from the Lorraine Hunt/David Daniels Glynbourne production....but hey, let's hear it for great vocalism!
@serenaluce Well you're never merely expressing your taste ! Had you i wouldn't have asked you... It's ok to say "i dislike this or that", but instead of that you're judging the performance according to some sort of universal "real beauty" standard (contradiction anyone ?). Anyway, i listened to Spanos and Daniels and well, my preference still goes to Mehta, hands down. That's it , just the full extent of my bad taste... But i'll stick to that ! ;-)
@serenaluce what's wrong with his singing ? Might as well tell you first i'm not a "specialist", i'm just curious. I personally find him deeply moving, but it's just my taste ;-)
Utterly wonderful in every way. Singing playing but Handel was a genius.
Mehta is hypnotising. Incomparable.
