From the look of the comments, people have very different experiences. I think she should have mentioned that, but perhaps she doesn't know, because there can be very little follow up from the doctors. I have had exactly no follow-up since the procedure - you are on your own. For me, I had two large fibroids and at least one other smaller one. The procedure went very well, i was on a pain pump I.V. for a day, and then given a bit of oxycodon as well as tylenol and another ibuprofen-type drug to take on a schedule when I went home the next day. I only needed the meds for a few days, and stopped the oycodon in two days. It causes constipation which is not something you want after that procedure. You want things to flow through because constipation causes back pain (at least in my case). The reason I needed this procedure was due to back pain. My fibroids are located near the spine, and therefore created significant lower back pain. I could no longer do the hiking and other activities I enjoyed, as the heavy fibroids would pull on the structures inside and hurt me for days afterwards. It took 6 years to eventually see a doctor who would recommended the procedure. The rest of them said the pain would go away after menopause, but it was not true. Also, my radiologist agreed that is not true. (Maybe it is true in some cases.) It was miraculous when I had the procedure; the fibroids softened immediately. Fibroids are very hard, and that's why they hurt my back so much. They also pushed against each other, in my case. Its been three months and I feel immeasurably better - life changing . However, I still have lower back discomfort, that is much more mild, and I have learned to manage it, to minimize it, and its only for the mornings and at night, in bed. When I drink alcohol, for example, it can flame up, so I am trying to be alcohol free. Also I should never eat after 6 pm as this will affect my sleep, due to digestion taking place, in the area where the fibroids continue to shrink. At the three month ultrasound appointment the other day, my radiologist said that the fibroids will continue to shrink for a year. In three months they shrunk about 20%, but the main thing has been that they have softened, which has created the relief of back pain. I get more hot flashes if I do not eat good foods. I eat organic foods if they are affordable, lots of vegetables and fruit. I drink a large glass of clean water with lemon squeezed into it before coffee each morning. Coffee may not be good for this, but I love it. I am off meat now too, as meat increases the amount of hot flashes. I am 55 years old, and have not had a period for just over a year. Its my belief that fibroids grow due to sensitivity to toxins, and perhaps due to the liver not being able to process all of the toxins that we consume or that are in our general environment. Alcohol is a major toxin and its so common. Just like for most female medical issues, there is not enough study. I have tired to find out a definitive reason for the growth of fibroids, but have not found it. Please comment if you have found anything of interest on their cause. After three months, I am able to jog for twenty minutes per day, which would have been so painful afterwards, for days, before. I had my procedure in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada, which is a rather remote small city, but we have amazing doctors, specialists, and nurses here! Everyone on my team was a woman, which for me was very re-assuring. Not that I think male doctors can't do this, but I do feel that since this is particularly a female issue, that women can have a closer understanding. I have an appointment with the gynecologist in a few days (set up by me - they do not follow up otherwise), and will be bouncing my ideas off her. There is some good stuff on the internet about this, but in my opinion, the idea that you could shrink them once they have grown, through dietary changes - that is either fake, or a long road. My gynecologist said I was a good candidate for the procedure, and she was right.

I just had this procedure yesterday. The pain is unbearable. For me, it’s been more intense than contractions. I’ve been up all night in pain with the 800mg Motrin and Percocet. Most of these videos make it seem like it’s a quick recovery when compared to a hysterectomy. Sure it’s quicker, but the pain is horrible.

@@whirlwindferocity I agree. It's been 6 days since surgery. I can't wait for the time to take oxcodine because I am in so much pain. The doctor is taking me off of narcotics. I am scared the pain won't go away and I won't be able to work. Healing is a slow process. I don't know who in their right minds would get many elective surgeries like plastic surgery. They must be a glutton for punishment.
I just wanted to be able to work without having to go to the restroom every 30 minutes. I pray it was worth it.
I think doctors lie about the pain and recovery time is because they are becoming millionaires performing this surgery.

@@peaceandquiet62 I wonder if it depends on the size of your fibroids. Where did you have this procedure done?
