THE BEST TEMPLES IN CHIANG RAI, THAILAND - White Temple, Blue Temple, Black House & MORE!

- Here are the BEST temples in Chiang Rai you must visit!
After temple hopping throughout our travels in Southeast Asia, we decided to visit a few of the more unique temples during our trip to Chiang Rai.
Our first stop was to the famous White Temple, also known as Wat Rong Khun. We arrived at 8am in order to beat the crowds. The White Temple is owned by a popular artist from Chiang Rai, Thailand who has grown to be one of the most influential artists in the country. We really enjoyed our tour of Wat Rong Khun and highly recommend seeing it during your visit to Chiang Rai.
Our second stop of the day was the Chiang Rai Black House, which is more like a museum than a temple. The Black House grounds actually consist of 40 buildings on the property. The Black House has costs at 80 Baht per person, and is open from 9am-5pm.
We then went to the Chiang Rai Blue Temple, also known as Wat Rong Seur Ten. We were excited to visit this temple because it was created by an artist who was a student of the creator of the White Temple. For that reason, there are many similar styles of art between the two temples. We absolutely loved this temple because of all the color and artistry. It was free admission as well, definitely worth a stop on your visit to Chiang Rai!
Our last stop of the day was at Wat Huay Pla Kang, also known as the goddess of mercy. The grounds here are a complex of buildings. The main site to see is the enormous white statue, The Goddess of Mercy, the image represents Guan Yin. Once inside the statue, we took a lift 25 floors up to the top. The walls of the top floor are covered with white stucco depictions of mythical creatures and trees. Looking out from the top, we had great views of valleys, mountains, forests and Chiang Rai town.

Chiang Rai City remains a sleepy provincial town with a pleasant atmosphere. ... Founded in 1262 as the capital of the Mengrai Dynasty, after Chiang Saen, today the city retains a strong Lanna identity, mostly through its impressive collection of temples, art, language, cuisine and music.

The Blue Temple is my favorite, but the freaky hands and people coming up from hell at the White Temple is pretty cool too.

I love White Temple and Blue Temple , It is ranked as one of the most beautiful temples in the world,too.
There are also many beautiful temples in Chiang Saen in Chiang Rai. Mekong restaurant with good atmosphere at night

@@SammyandTommy At Chiang Saen, you can see the Mekong River and the Lao side from the top of the mountain, it's very beautiful. and here is the ancient city and ancient walls Including the lake, more than 1,100 years old, coexist with the present city.

The white Temple owner Chalermchai sat at the feet and learned everything he knows from the recently passed National Thai Artist Ajarn Tawan of the black temple ...not the other way around....The Blue temple is made by the students of Khun Chalermchai of the White Temple Fame.......Nice vid guys....Enjoy Chiang Rai...you missed the best restaurant Hungry Wolfs!!!

Im from Chiangrai if you have time I recommend Doi Chang mountain very beautiful view and have many cafe coffee from Doi Chang is the worldclass coffee test they won compettition - far from Chiangrai town 1 hour / Chiangkong town - Thepnimit temple the most beautiful view of Maekong river in Thailand and go to bicycle in Chiangkong town and near the river far from Chiangrai town 3 hours

Very informative! Wife and I thinking about going for our 25 th anniversary. Is there a good time to go where you miss the monsoons or any other inclement weather or ….anything negative for tourists? Also, I have been trying to get a good video with a comprehensive map that lays out the country…with travel times and ….mileages attached, because, we have thoughts of maybe just spending a night or two in Bangkok and going north and trying to minimize travel times🤙

@@SammyandTommy get a car, some mountain bikes, your hiking boots, and your water sports gear and get away from the usual same touristy things that everyone else does and somehow thinks is 'adventure' and go find the more interesting out of the way places. There is a whole nother Thailand out there you can't reach by plane or taxi or scooter. Vlog it if you have to, but maybe just don't give away the location. You arent the problem, it's the subscribers these vlogs attract - the kind of unadventurous tourists who see something like Koh Phi Phi Le in a movie or TV show (Game Of Thrones) or a vlog and then feel they have to go there and get a cliche'd selfie (the Christ pose) and the next thing there are 5000 idiots a day all doing the same thing and they have to close it for 3 years 😤. And do you REALLY need a load of boring strangers all commenting on your life? 🙄
@@SammyandTommy if you want to see Wats the one at Prachuap Khiri Khan is worth the 396 steps and the one at Chumphon is just a viewpoint but you can drive up to that one and the sunsets the last two nights at these peaks were amazing. We stopped at another famous Wat somewhere outside Chumphon but you know, after you've seen a few Wats they all get to be much the same. The views are usually great tho
