What's cool about Thai temples is that each one is unique. You can stumble upon one and if you stop and really LOOK at it, you see cool things. One that stands out for me personally is the one across from a place where I was eating breakfast at Fern Forest Cafe in Chiang Mai (Wat Dab Pai). I wandered inside and...there were millions of various colored mirrored tiles (tiny ones). It looked like the temple was decorated with Christmas ornaments in terms of color (red, blue, green, silver, gold). Outside, looks like a 'standard temple', like all the others, but inside with all those cool tile mosaics...incredible.

Paddy just a tip. You can create your own map(s) on Google Maps and add pins & notes, and categorize, etc. Then benefit of this is that you only need to share 1 link to your map
So we just sold everything and are planning our first trip to Vietnam and Thailand as we speak. I have watched HUNDREDS OF VIDEOS at this point trying to find the most amazing sites in both countries so that we can maximize our three months in the region. This video is BY FAR the best video on temples. You have raised the bar so high, don't see anyone else hitting it ever. Well done my friend. Subscribed and I hope to learn more from your travels in the coming months!
It's amazing how diverse all these temples are. Amazing, bewitching freedom of expression. Your videos make my heart dream even more about a new trip to my beloved Thailand Thank you so much, Paddy!
My favorite temple is Wat Roi Phra Putthabat Phu Manorom in Mukdahan. I just have a thing for giant serpents, snakes and dragons. They are so epic, big and beautiful. All the temple are awesome. Can't go wrong with any of them. Thanks for the great video Paddy. Can't wait to see what you have in store for us next!
Great video with some very beautiful temples. My personal favourite , not on your list, is Wat Pa Phu Kon. Stunning blue temple with a white marble Buddha. Remote location so not easy to get to. Looking forward to your other top 10's.
I've been to your number 1 temple in Phetchabun and I must admit, I was blown away, it's absolutely majestic, the white of the Buddha's pop against the green mountains, it's an architectural phenomenon, good pick Paddy🙏
Ive been to that one in ayutthaya and agree. The outside is relatively modest and then you are suddenly in that room with the enormous Buddha towering above you and hundreds of thais packed in shoulder to shoulder praying. Beautiful and awesome.
So many amazing and epic temples in Thailand. I want to visit them all! How do you even choose which ones are best? You have some great picks Paddy. Love all your videos. Looking forward to more.
I've visited Doi Suthep in Chiang Mai and several wonderful locations in Ayutthaya. I'm going to need a bigger bucket -- The list has certainly grown after watching this video. I have a favourite beach in the world -- I wonder if that is going to show up in your upcoming video on the beaches. Thank you sooooo much, Mr Doyle. Always a joy to experience Thailand through all of your travels and work! dcb
This was great. I wish it would have been a Top 20 list. But I totally agree with you on the first choice in Petchabun. Absolutely stunning. I might have added in the White Temple in Chiang Rai, but I guess that is more of an art piece than a temple. Same with the Sanctuary of Truth in Pattaya. Art piece rather than actual temple. Interesting note on your #2 choice, in Ayutthaya. When I was there, there were signs posted around the entrance saying "thieves are active in the area. Please be aware of your belongings." Also, when I walked around the giant golden Buddha to the back of the statue, I saw a ginormous cockroach scurrying across the floor. So it sort of took points away from that temple. I really would have put Wat Arun in there near the top. It is my all time favorite temple in Bangkok, and probably my #2 in all Thailand after Wat Phrathat Phang Song Kao in Petchabun.
I totally agree with your number one choice. It is 20 minutes from our home. There are some hidden rooms that you missed when you visited it. If you are ever here again try and join a tour by the head monk and you will get to see rooms full of millions of crystals and even a Miss Universe sceptre that was donated by a Thai Miss Universe. inside the 5 headed Buddha on the 3 floor there is also a crystal encrusted Buddha statue that is spectacular.
Petchabun is such an underrated province for tourists. The temples as included in this video are spectacular and awe-inspiring. The landscapes in the Petchabun are just amazing. The weather in Petchabn is fantastic very moderate when considered to most other provinces. There are many decedents that originated from Vietnam in this province adding some diversity to its food culture
Good work Paddy ! Very useful for those travelling to Thailand and interested in visiting nice temples. Will refer to your provided links on my next visit to Thailand. Thanks !
I think you got it right, What Phrathat Phang Son Kaeo is definitely number 1 in my book too. It's the first temple I thought of when you said you were making a video on the Top 10 Temples 🙏😊
Hiya Paddy, Brilliant travel guide of the Temples. Great top ten. Informative. Beautiful drone footage. The size of the Temples always amazes me. Beautiful footage. Great video. Thank you for sharing. Have a lovely week.
This is an awesome “Top 10 Temples” video Paddy! Love them all especially #1❤️ Thanks for sharing this and the links to your previous blogs! Cannot wait to see more😊
Kanchanaburi province also has some amazing temples not that far way from Kanchanaburi city centre, such as Wat Tham Suea (Tiger temple) and Wat Baan Tham (with the entrance of a dragon mounth + great view from the mountain). Most foreigners come to see the death railway, but Kanchanaburi has so many beautiful temples with a nice view to the mountains, jungles and the rivers.
Superb presentation of the very best of the best Wats Paddy. Petchabun is extraordinary, set in a beautiful landscape. As for belief's, Buddhism is more about philosophy rather than a god or man/female worship. I think this philosophy is the essence and reflection of all the things we like in the majority of Thai people and Thai culture.
Absolutely fantastic thank You thank you I’m going to be in Thailand soon so this awesome for me to know which amazing Temples I should visit while I’m there . Great to see your latest Vlog . Thanks again and already looking forward to the next episode.
Hi Paddy ! Great Video ! Should definitely check out - Way Ban Den near Chiang Mai and Wat Khao Din in Khao Tao - Hua Hin, Both are usually unknown but amazingly beautiful !!!
Thank you so much for sharing Paddy! The #1 and #2 are always in my MUST VISIT list. My personal favourite in the South would be the Wat Prathat in Nakhon Sithamarat, I didn't visit the other one that you visited. Again thanks for sharing super awesome 🙂
Your pick from Petchabun is my pick as well, but for me because i not seen any other more beautifull yet. Seen it in 2017 from Isan with a 1,5 hour car ride. Seen a lot new tempels this year but yhat one is still the best yet 👊 As always, C Ya in the next one Paddy, cheers 🙌🍻

As a rule “top 10s” dont really work for views - as people think youve just rounded up or down the 10 things on the list. Try top 8/9/12 etc, as the though process is that an odd number that they are worthy of a place on the list. This info come from someone with a background in publishing sucessful articles (not me) cheers
Finally subscribed to your channel Paddy this temple episode finally forced me into pushing that button. Just not a big fan of the typical way overrated tourist slums like Phuket, Koh Samui, Chiang Mai, Hua Hin, and such those locations just make me cringe. After living here for over two decades I lost count of how many temples I have visited in Thailand alone. But you have picked some great locations most off the beaten down Pad Thai highway.

That is a great choice. Was one of the first places I took my wife on for a date. Beautiful temple.
I agree with David Burt. I too am going to need a bigger bucket. So many beautiful places in Thailand
haha!
Skimming & scanning Thailand's temples is no easy task. Agree with number 2. Would revisit all of them for a closer glance!

Paddy Doyle, I seem to recall a British or Irish gangster with that name in movie. You do not seem so fierce. Thanks for the vid on the temple, it helps..
Not easy to choose the 10 best temples Paddy but great selection

Paddy, where's the best year-round surfing beach?
This video is so cool just one thing was that the scenery kept switching to you talking every few seconds. After living here for over two decades I lost count of how many temples I have visited in Thailand alone. But you have picked some great locations most off the beaten down Pad Thai highway.
i can guess your no.1 at the beginning of the vid
I love Thailand. But temples? Not in my top 10. ,😛
