I wanted to hit the hay so I didn't go over everything I wanted but hopefully I atleast got someone interested in the idea I'm exploring. Hello Jaru probably not the best video to mention something non memey, but hopefully you give this a read when you're free. I recently picked up Demian by Hermann Hesse and having only read a few pages I've noticed something interesting. Franz Kromer, or Kromer, does appear in this book. Obviously this brought me to the silly man Spamton, but I didn't really think much of it. As I continued reading something suddenly clicked with me and I went to re-read the few pages I had already went over. "Chapter 1 - Two Worlds". I continued reading more curious if there might be any connections that could be made between Demian and Deltarune. Before I list what connection's I think could be drawn, I highly encourage you look up a PDF for this book and read about 10 pages (starting at page 7, so up to page 17 or so). I actually don't believe Kromer was just a one-off silly gag, but rather a subtle nod to the book Demian. To give a brief overview Demian follows a character named "Sinclair". Sinclair makes distinctions of reality: There are two worlds, the World of Light and World of Dark/the Dark world (Described in pages 7-10). Yes the book directly says "Dark World". Sinclair makes it clear that he belongs to the "World of Light". Light essentially meaning "good", and proper. I'm not too familiar with Deltarune lore, but from what I've looked up Kromer is specifically referenced as an alternative name to "Dark Dollars". This is quite interesting because the character Kromer is associated with blackmail money, and more directly Kromer is stated to be from the "Other World" from Sinclair's perspective (The Dark World). Kromer holds Sinclair, the main character of Demian, to his bidding as long as the demanded blackmail money is paid. This causes Sinclair to become ill and suddenly cut ties with everyone. (From this point on I'm reading a Chapter 1 Summary, I have yet to finish Chapter 1 so details could've been missed) Sinclair eventually is unable to pay Kromer's silence, and becomes their slave. It's described as Sinclair finally being forced to venture into the "Dark World" Sinclair in this sense might be Spamton? I'm not sure, maybe you will know. From what little I have already described I believe there could be some significance this book has to the plot. I don't think its a blueprint in any sense, but it could possibly provide very broad ideas that we can expect to see explored by Toby.
I really appreciate how you always carefully weigh how these theories would fit in narratively from a storytelling perspective when presenting them, it’s a very important aspect which a lot of other people’s theories don’t consider. It makes them particularly credible even though they’re sometimes a bit avant-garde.
This theory... it moved me. I haven't seen a single other video - no, work of true literature - do a better job at vicious, meticulous analysis. In such short time no less. I cannot believe toby fox would hide such a well hidden story in such an odd and obscure car. The fact that Gaster is the true opposition of The Angel as well is a mindblowing revelation, just wait till this makes the rounds in the community.
