- What does society expect of you as a female? A rich person? A poor person? A black person? A white person? What are these social norms that can make us lose sight of our dreams? Sydney Ragland challenges students to dream big and hold on to the dreams in spite of expectations and the stereotypes that could derail your future. Sydney is ambitious, diligent, and persistent and ranks number three in her senior class with a 4.0 GPA. She is a member of the Beta Club and National Honor Society, serves as Head Drum Major for the 2017-2018 Raider Marching Band, and participates in various extracurricular activities including the Mays High School Wind Symphony, golf team, Math club, French club, First Tee of Atlanta, Girl Scouts of America, and the Maynard Jackson Youth Foundation. Sydney also makes time for volunteering in her community and hobbies that include listening to and playing music. After graduating high school, her plans are to pursue a career as a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician. Sydney's favorite quote is "They told me I couldn't, that's why I did." This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

That was a fantastic speech sincerely, thank you. I meant a lot for me to hear you.
This girl is describing the reality of girls with ADHD and/or ASD. Excitability about profound interests are snuffled out early instead of leveraged to build incredible success.
this video is extremely under rated... why is that? idk? but it did hit hard for me for sure. i wish there were more light hearted videos like this.
Wow. This is amazing! Congratulations and thank you for such an inspiring speech! ❤️
Nice speech and all but the fact that its just being used for school, which is what she mainly talks about is kinda of ironic.
Thanks for sharing.
