Last time I was back in Glasgow, I bumped into Billy on Argyll St., Near the old anderson bus Station. We spoke for a min., or two.... No Airs & Graces. Is there maybe a wee bit jealousy Rollover ????
Oh! I remember Craig retelling this story a few months ago when he visited San Francisco during his book tour! Glad to know the face of the man behind the story. :D What an interesting guy he is!
Yeah, I live in the US but grew up in Scotland. People do not realise how much my accent has softened until I talk t omy family back home, or anyone from Scotland and my Scottishness bursts forth! I agree, I prefer the pure dead brilliant Glesga accent.
i really enjoy watching craig interview his fellow scots or people from the UK. he does sustain his accent talking to the brits and it's more enjoyable listening to that. (for me, personally).
Fascinating to hear Craig's speech slip right back to his natural Scottish accent during this interview. I don't think he would have been aware of it at the time- correct me if I'm wrong.
Aye, you can tell when Craig quickly corrects himself from saying "caravans" to the American term, "trailers." Fried Mars Bars are not so great on their own, but utterly magical when paired with ice cream... Mmmmm...
Oh really? What about: television, penicillin, the telephone, tarmac, the pneumatic tire, the steam engine, the radio, railways, bicycles, ultrasound, fridges... etc etc
exaaaactly. and not just here. always, when he's with some scottish you can hear it. or when he talks about some serious things for example september 11th or eulogy to his father. yep. scottish. love him ;)
@TheSpartanNPE They exist. If you live in or near Glasgow, or next time you're in the city, check out the University Cafe chip shop on Byres Road across from the Western Infirmary. I tried one once, it was okay: just tasted like a hot, melted mars bar.
WeirdFields: If you have a strong accent then you have to soften it so people here(The U.S) can understand you. I have had to soften mine since i came here.
haha it's true Craigs accent does get seem very strong in this interview probably unconsiosly cause he's talking to Connolly whose accent is so Scotish.
How do you explain peoples accents changing then? Seriously, if a 10 year old moves from America to England, their accent changes. I'm not necessarily saying that if you went to Wales for an hour you'd come back speaking like Rob Brydon. All I'm saying is that when I see my family in Glasgow, my accent changes a wee bit. I can't explain why that is. Well done on making me type the longest youtube comment ever.
I was born in the hospital oposite the royal car museum (Oh yeah such a place!) And thats in Glasgow I think Billy's the man but I had that American twat who acts Scotish ¬_¬ You see the fear in his eyes when Billy grabs him by the neck before the ad's .... Classic
I absolutely love seeing these two together, they play off each other so well. G'WAN BIG'YIN!
for one, magical night, that room was Glasgow.
Craig's accent gets thicker when he's around fellow scotsmen. xD
getting tattooed when youre old! pure brilliance :)
thats one thing i have on my list
At around the the 3:25 mark Craig's accent REALLY comes out. So funny.
I love Billy Connolly
I love how Craig said caravan but has to correct himself and say trailer so the American audience knew whet he ment :)
I'm from Australia and there's this infamous general store/fish and chips store out in this shithole small town which does deep fried mars bars haha
Just saw the trailer. Can't wait! I love X-Files, and I love Billy, this should be awesome!

Ohh, I do love Scotsmen--especially the one I married. Peace.
I'm frae Scotland and the Big Yin rules!
I didn't think Scotts wore cowboy boots. Who knew?
I live in Perth..but when I go to Glasgow..my accent naturally switches as I talk to Glaswegians. Sometimes you just can't help it..it's like osmosis.
handsome, smart, funny young billy :)
Craig sounds extra Scottish here.
"in a caravan... ehh, i mean a trailer, yeah"
Billy Connoly is going to be in the next X-Files movie. =D
Fascinating to hear Craig's speech slip right back to his natural Scottish accent during this interview. I don't think he would have been aware of it at the time- correct me if I'm wrong.
Its because its easier and you dont have to worry about people not understanding you-they have there own patter
Aye, you can tell when Craig quickly corrects himself from saying "caravans" to the American term, "trailers."
Fried Mars Bars are not so great on their own, but utterly magical when paired with ice cream... Mmmmm...
Notice he goes more Scottish around a Scotsman... he did with Gerard Butler, too.

What's the connection between "Jock" and the Scots? I suppose, being American, I wouldn't know.

I'm actually from the very place that invented the deep fried Mars Bar...it looks distinctly terrible! lol
