Nilgiri Mountain Railway which is famous for its Ooty toy train (which runs on stream engine) is a 1000mm metre gauge railway.
Ooty Toy Train is one of the most famous toy train rides in India because it uses the steam engine.
Hence this Ooty toy train is a World Heritage Site and also one of the Best of Indian Railways. The site then became known as Mountain Railways of India.
This Ooty toy train video takes you through the journey of the exquisite natural beauty of Nilgiri hill from Mettupalayam to Ooty and also covers how to reach Mettupalayam from Coimbatore.
Mettupalayam is 30 KMs from Coimbatore, it takes around 1 hour by road to reach Mettupalayam from Coimbatore.
Mettupalayam toy train starts from Mettupalayam at around 7:00 AM and reaches Ooty around 12:30 PM. 5 hours to cover 50 km. Ooty toy train runs at an average speed of 10KM/HR. This train goes very slow because this route is the steepest route in Asia.

Well made Vlog.. one correction though.. the steam engine is used in the steepest section I.e. metupalayam to Coonoor.. since only it is equipped with Rake and Penion system.. the diesel engine handels the less gradient section of Coonoor to Ooty

How many days prior did u do ur toy train booking
To be on safer side we booked tickets as soon as booking started. We saw people getting into the train by purchasing tickets from window counter situated at Mettupalayam but then, they didn't get seat.
I suggest it will be better if you book tickets ahead and plan your travel. This is because, from this New year steam engine will go right upto Ooty from Mettupalayam. Earlier this steam engine was replaced with diesel engine at conoor.
Travelling all the way till Ooty with steam engine will make travel even more memorable and will attract more visitors too.

Bangalore se Mysore approx 3-4 hours.. aur Mysore se Ooty again 3-4 hours. Maximum 6-8 hours mein aap bangalore Ooty pahuch sakte hai.

Hello karunakar ji, lko se Coimbatore ki koi direct train nahi hai. Apko pehle chennai ya fir bangalore jana hoga. Jaha se apko Coimbatore ki train mile gi. Lko se Ooty jana hi main expense hai jisme apko atleast 5000 per person lage se train se.
Ooty mai 2000 ruppee per day tak average hotel mil jaye ge.

Latest Ticket price u can check on irctc website, but they are not very costly. There are no toilet facilities on train, but as train stops at station after every 10-15 mins for water refill for steam , person can use facilities at railway station. Welcome to your channel TRAVELFUNREPEAT . All you need to do is-
1) Board the train from Mumbai to Coimbatore Junction (CBE). Coimbatore is the major railways station near Ooty. There are about 6-7 trains which connect amchi Mumbai to Coimbatore choose the best suited.
2) You can probably stay for a day in Coimbatore , do local sightseeing. Next day early morning the board train (12671) at 5 am , which will take you to Mettupalayam . Mettupalayam is the station from where Ooty steam engine train starts its journey.
3) Board the Mettupalayam to Udagamandalam (Ooty) train (56136). This is a World UNESCO Heritage steam engine train which takes you to Ooty.
Note: - Prebook the steam engine train tickets. As availability is very less in this train beacuse no one wants to miss sitting on steam engine.

You Need to follow below route -
1) Firstly get a train from Bangalore to Coimbatore( Number of trains are available from Whitefield , Krpuram and Sbc )
2) Get down at Coimbatore at night . From Coimbatore you get early morning train (12671 Nilgiri Express) upto Mettupalayam .This is approx 1.5 hr journey
3) From Mettupalayam stars your amazing and ever memorable journey to Ooty on a steam engine.
