I think Adam's description adds to the beauty of this arrangement and song. It also tells you a great deal about Adam. I'll put it here for you: "On the surface, this arrangement of “Do You Hear What I Hear” sparks the imagination with different musical themes, and brings life to several different scenes or imagery about the birth of Christ. However, a deeper understanding of the song reveals a call for peace in a chaotic violent world under the simple truth preached by Christ: love. Originally written during the Cuban missile crisis, a parallel can be drawn to any time when the world needs a reminder to love not hate. The theme of competing voices is echoed in the execution of the 4 different vocal parts that come to clarity at the 4th verse and unify with the same message in 5 octaves: “Listen to what I say. Pray for peace, people everywhere.” - Adam Rupp"
This is my all time favorite video of Home Free.. This is the first video I ever saw.. That day, I searched for every video I could find.. This is an ice castle that moves around Minnesota.. At the end of the video, they talk about it and the arranging of the song.. Keep going with Home Free!!! Great reaction..
That was Austin doing the guitar sound. These guys are totally amazing. Been a fan from their Sing Off days. Please react to "Sound Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and "Green Sleeve" by Tim and Peter Hollens.
Aloha Bruddah Sam! Another one of my favorites! Yes, it's very real... They sound just like that in concert! Every bit of it... It's amazing! They are that phenomenal! Great reaction! If you had listened to the rest of it, It is revealed that Adam, the beatboxer, arranged that song! I love that they are all involved in creating these amazing arrangements! Patiently waiting for your next Home Free reaction! Thank you, Home Fry! 😁
Go back and listen again to the part where Tim starts out in the basement on "Listen to what I say..." He transitions from that low growl all the way into his upper register so smoothly and seamlessly!!! Absolutely AMAZING!!!!!
Their voices sound like instruments, thats why many people can't believe there are no instuments and it is only acapella, That's why I love them so much, it was at first hard for me to believe, but then I've seen them do it live in concert, and it is so impressive. There is not just one of them either, they all can do it. I've seen Adam sound exactly like a harmonica live, I've seen Chance sound like a mouth harp, Tim sounds like a bass guitar, it's so good, and it really comes from them. They have also done this song in live performance believe it or not.
Another of my favorites -- be sure to go back to the original and read the description under it - Adam explains his thought process while he was arranging -- really great info and insight. They are all amazing - for a laugh, you should do Full of Cheer and Grandma Got Run Over......welcome to the addiction that is Home Free!
Great reaction and GREAT group!!! I'm a total Home Frie! Three of my favorites are "In The Blood", "Hillbilly Bone", and "My Church". Thank you, please keep doing what you do!
If you haven't heard them sing "I'll be Home for Christmas," check it out. It's beautiful. Also, check out Home Free and Peter Hollens sing "Amazing Grace."
Love your reactions, love your passion. These guys are truly incredible and seeing them live will blow you away. All the suggestions you have received are a must see. I would also like to add "My Church" and the live version of "Man of Constant Sorrow", awesome harmonies as usual.
The baritone on this (with the cap on his head) is Chris Rupp. The beatboxer, Adam, is his brother. They founded Home Free in the college dorm room in 2001. Chris Rupp left the group in 2016 (to launch a solo career), leaving Adam as the only member left who’s been there from the beginning. Chris was replaced by Adam Chance, who is a baritone/bass-he was the other bass voice on Mayday-aside from Tim. They call him “Chance”. You should check out “I can’t outrun you”. Chance sings lead vocal and he directed the video!!
These guys are beyond good.ireally hope they come close enough for you to see them live.i bet they will.they came to my little town in New Hampshire, they should come there. awsome reaction Sam,(as always) I cant wait till you hear oh holy night,i had chills from start to finish
I don't think I had heard that one. The wife and I are huge Home Free fans but I feel I missed this one some how. WOW! Thats usually all I can say with these guys. So dang good!
I am so happy that you have done this reaction It is one of my faves along with many others Adam Rupp did the arrangement for this video These guys are so talented and they each bring their own style to the mix Tim's bass is so epic and mindblowing and headphones make that experience so much more intense. Can wait for the next one. God Bless
I still get chills every time I listen to this one. My favorite Christmas song for years and they improved on it, which I didn't think was possible. They did a wonderful job with this one. Thank you! ^_^
Yeah austin is doing the guitar sound. It was filmed in Minnesota and that ice castle moves year to year in the state. Adam did the arrangement on this
I can testify that they sound just as good live. I saw them perform this actual song a few years ago at one of their Christmas concerts. It was incredible!! You may be able to find a clip here on UA-cam of a concert. All their concerts I've been able to go to, the Christmas ones are my favorite. Blessings!
Thanks for another great reaction! Never to early for Christmas songs! O Holy Night is a great idea for your next reaction! Another awesome one is Go Rest High On That Mountain...there's no actual video...you have to react to their live version!
Yep, have heard them sing this live and it is awesome! They someone get tons of layers in even when not recorded! They said Adam's arrangements often are too complicated for them to sing without tweaking, but this one they loved and found it was something they could just do and it turned out incre8ible didn't it! Love your reactions!
Is that not just the greatest !!!! Adam did that arrangement, he is just Amazing. Lets hope he does more arrangements in the future. I really enjoyed your reaction, I had to watch it 5 or 6 times right in a row.
I LOVE your reactions to Home Free !!! Your laugh is contagious, and your emotions easy to see. Yes, Adam arranged this, and did a spectacular job doing so. Would so love for him to do more arranging. Cant wait for more Home Free reactions.
Awe... mahalo much for your kind words! Bruddah Home Fry here is already uploading their newest release, "Finally Free" so look out for it in the next hour. Mahalo much also for watching!
Do yourself a favor.......in the older videos, watch all the way to the end! They will thank you for watching and give you a preview to another video. You missed them telling you where this one was filmed! Great reaction, tho’. Thanks!
Thx for reacting to my very favourite HF song and video! Doesn’t matter which time of the year it is, good music is good music. Please react to What Child Is This by Chris Rupp & Home Free.
Great reaction, Sam! I adore this arrangement. If you love harmonies check out Home Free's versions of Helplessly Hoping and Seven Bridges Road - they are just awesome.
Fellow Home Fry here!! I don’t know if anyone else posted the info on this song yet, but Adam did the arrangement for their version. This is my fav Christmas song of theirs! It’s so complex, but soooo amazing!!
LOL --- that reaction is familiar! Love it! This is still one of my most favorites --- and I still love it... actually amazed every time I hear it. What an arrangement by Adam R, huh?
hey Bruddah Sam you should also check out angels we have heard on high. It was done at the same place as o holy Night. You've just hit the tip of the ice berg of music they've done through the years. And that doesn't include all the collaborations Tim has done with Peter Hollens. As i told one vocal coach that nust started reacting to them, hold on to your socks pants shirt and maybe hair because you haven't heard anything yet. God bless and hope you have a great day.
I like how you appreciate the harmonies of Home Free. Going to recommend a new cove with Adam Chance as the lead that I understand was arranged by Tim. Please react to Helplessly Hoping: ua-cam.com/video/kQt9jKDCqHo/v-deo.html
"Brrrrr months" in Hawaii, hahaha. I lived on Kaneohe Base, went to school in Kailua back in the late 70's. My first christmas, after living in OK for almost 5 yrs, was culture shock. I knew this song would be a great reaction from you.
Aloha Lisa! Yes you're right about that. Unfortunately, when I had edited this, I was working with my tablet because my laptop was not available. Most likely, I may have toggled the bass or the gain a little too much that in the end when I got back to listening to it after it was posted, I then noticed the cracking. Sorry if it bothered you a lot. When it comes to Home Free videos, I'm careful now with the volume....especially when the bass drops haha!
Yeah, I apologize for that. During the edit, it sounded fine and normal. I adjusted the volume up about 25% because it was soft in some areas. I failed to listen to the whole thing again and just uploaded it. So finally after it being scheduled to post overnight, that morning, it got so many hits already, I watched it through while at the gym, my headphones couldn't take it....I wanted to fix it, but I didn't have time because I had to go to work already... So yeah.... my apologies. I now know😳😵😂
It Really sounds like that Live...Adam Rupp’s arrangement is the Best Ever!!!!!!!😍😍😍❤️😉✌🏻
I think Adam's description adds to the beauty of this arrangement and song. It also tells you a great deal about Adam. Adam is incredible in this! I love the echo effect they did instead of the traditional call and response!

O' Holy Night is the song that made me a Home Fry!! Austin hits some notes that are almost operatic!
The baritone on this (with the cap on his head) is Chris Rupp. The beatboxer, Adam, is his brother. They founded Home Free in the college dorm room in 2001. Thanks for reacting to this video...it’s one of my favorites. The sounds and the setting make it magical. Great reaction!
Still my all time fave Home Free song! 😍😍😍 Great reaction! 😉
Those Massive Low Bass notes just drive the song, and the beat boxing is, as always, other-worldly. Amazing stuff!!
I don't think I had heard that one. The wife and I are huge Home Free fans but I feel I missed this one some how. WOW! Thats usually all I can say with these guys. So dang good!

Yes I saw that hehe! I haven't been feeling well lately that's why I haven't posted anything the past days, but I will get to it. Mahalo for watching!
don't get me wrong, i love Tim. but this way wayyy too bass boosted
he did it to the video because when Tim hits that growl his voice also cracks...
Just need Jack Nicholson to chase them with an axe.
The quality of the audio really messed up the song. Trying to ruin peoples speakers and headphones with that horrible horrible distorted low bass? ;
Yeah, I apologize for that. During the edit, it sounded fine and normal. I adjusted the volume up about 25% because it was soft in some areas. I failed to listen to the whole thing again and just uploaded it.
