I have a major tip for anyone still struggling. I used to not be able to get my back wheel off the ground at all and it was mainly all because I didn't pop hard enough (due to me being scared to pop hard for some reason and that could of gone alot easier if I was already comfortable on my board) and I also did the foot drag motion somewhat but I only dragged it up a little or bearly at all. I also had the timing all wrong because I kind of took it like steps (pop, drag, land) but really its just supposed to be all at one motion. I finally got my ollies off the ground after getting educated about them and really understanding the proper way to do them. It wasn't just that but it took me a lot of practice and I mean alot like 3 hours a day straight. PRACTICE IS VERY IMPORTANT TRUST ME IT PAYS OFF AND I LEARNED THAT. but annyways here is a list of things you should know for your ollies: 1. Bend your knees and use them as a spring when you jump 2. Actually jump while doing the motion 4. Think of the pop as a flick of your foot 5. Think of dragging first, because the pop is really quick and it will happen if you know how to do this correctly. (This works for me when I think about it because it helps me always get the timing right but it doesn't work for everybody) 6. When all 4 wheels are in the air push down the foot that you dragged down to the ground, while lifting the other foot that you popped. 7. Alot of vids or ppl dont mention this but the drag foot placement before you ollie is super important. If you are a bit taller put the foot you drag with closer to the foot you pop with. If you are shorter like me put the foot you drag with further away from the foot you pop with. (BUT MAKE SURE THAT YOUR FOOT YOU USE TO DRAG IS STILL CLOSE TO THE MIDDLE) 8. Land each foot on the bolts 9. If this still doesn't work go back to the simple motions of pop, drag, and land and keep on doing them over and over. The best advice I can give to you is to practice you will get it eventually and be consistent like do it everyday even if you just try 10 a day you will see some improvement in a week. If you have any questions feel free to reply!! Have a good day/night YALL CAN DO THIS I BELEIVE IN YOU🤗
Once you learn this, you never forget. I just started back skating today for the first time in 10 or so years, was able to ollie again within 30 or so minutes. Learning the first time is the hardest
Same. I was never very good but could Ollie decently. A few days ago I must've tried to Ollie about 40 times in my daughter's board, most were barely off of the ground but was able to do a couple that were likely close to 18'". It was fun but then I remembered that I'm 35 and my back started hurting.
I swear I never managed to ollie. I was a pretty decent bmx rider and longboarder, got my first street board at age 19, tried to ollie the thing for an entire summer with no success. Just saw this video and pumped up to give it another go at 39. Let's goooo

Really wouldn’t worry about it. Only way to not be embarrassed is to get out and learn it so people can see you actually doing tricks. Even if it’s just pushing around, as long as you do it comfortably and smoothly that’s all that matters! Let me know if I can help!

Try putting your front foot just a little behind the front bolts. You don’t need a lot of slide to get a good Ollie. Some try to slide way too much at first and it only makes it harder if you’re not use to the motion already.

This is the first video I watched to try and get (back) into skating. I tried for a year or so in HS back in the day. Bitd being the 90s. I had the Valley board, the one I think had a purple? elephant on it. Now my 5-year-old daughter is just starting to take up the sport and I want with all my heart and soul to teach her how to Ollie once she has the basics down. So it begins. Again.
Nearly twenty years of skateboarding for me and never could do more than a little baby Ollie that's just enough to jump up street curbstones. But I casually manual, pivot, casper, railstand on it. So, just saying, no matter where you begin, it's all up to you where you end. Just don't give up! Great videos btw.!

i started skating about a month ago and started trying to learn how to ollie today! i can get the board up now just need to flick my foot. i've been taking videos of all the practice so that i could rewatch and see what i'm missing. i got so excited when i played it back and saw i got the board off the ground. wish me luck B^)
Put your back foot on the tail of the board. Then continue to slide your your front foot in the same way that you would ollie. I hope this helps! If you don’t mind can you sub to my youtube channel? Thanks! Have a good day!!
holy crap this helped so much, I got so much crappy unexplained advice and could never do it, this video had me doing an oillie every few tries, this is literally my 5th day skating with minimal practice, thank you so much.
The way I learned was by leaning on something so I knew I wouldn’t fall to get that fear out of my head, then I used crutches so I can practice while in the middle of the street or room, then I would let the crutches go and keep trying until I got the right amount of slide and bounce
I tried to do this and the board just fully swept me off my feet and I fell 💀 idk if I'll ever be able to do tricks haha. The fear of falling stops me smh I'm picking up skating again now after 5yrs of not doing it tho, I want to do better this time Update: I'm trying to skate every single day when and where I can to get more comfortable c:
So once you pause youtube videos, you can advance frame by frame using the [,] key. If you do so at 2:39 you can get clarity about what "everything at the same time" means. You initiate the jump and upwards motion from the board. Once you have the momentum and you legs are half way straight you do the pop-motion to take your board with you.
@@penguinpvp4138 i'm sorry but do you try to ollie once a month or what? I understand it's quite difficult but 4 years... So I’ve been skating for 10 months now and I feel like such a poser because I can only ride the board really good pick it up looking cool revert tic tac shuv it on carpet but yet still can’t Ollie am I even considered a skater at this point 😟😭
Yes because i can somewhat ollie and do kickflips but i push with my opposite foot so its hard to ride and do tricks its why i almost gave up.
I learned to Ollie in probably 1-2 months and kickflip came like 4 months into skating and this was me practicing everyday for 1-3 hours
Esteban Vazquez omg i know someone with your exact name
This will really help me with my skating tnk you
oh my god, thank you so sooo much for this tutorial. was able to nail it down under 8 minutes!! thank youu!
Oh yeah my eyes understand but my feet don’t
Edit: TYSM FOR ALL THE LIKES IVE NEVER GOTTEN THIS MUCH BEFORE ❤️❤️

i went outside and i tried it real quick, my feet didn't understand it definitely.
EXACTLY
As a father of four very young boys who are trying to learn how to skate, I can't tell you how thrilled I was when you said the F word in the first 10 seconds of this video. Way to be, CCS.
Thank you so much dale and ccs I just landed my first ss Ollie today the video was very helpful once again thank you 🙏🏿❤️
Yes!!!!!
Let’s go a UA-cam vid that’s legit I have been learning the wrong technique until I saw this landed my first Ollie 2 minutes after 😁😁😁 thank you sooo much
Thanks man I’ve been on the verge of it for ages this helped me land my first
i started skating about a month ago and started trying to learn how to ollie today! i can get the board up now just need to flick my foot. i've been taking videos of all the practice so that i could rewatch and see what i'm missing. i got so excited when i played it back and saw i got the board off the ground. wish me luck B^)
Any progress?
CCS just wondering, could you guys restock on the Grizzly X Everybody Skates Bluntslide Griptape?
For some reason my body doesn’t let me slide my foot like it just doesn’t want to move
Edit: holy crap you guys thanks for the likes
Put your back foot on the tail of the board. Then continue to slide your your front foot in the same way that you would ollie. I hope this helps! If you don’t mind can you sub to my youtube channel? Thanks! Have a good day!!
Fear is holding you back. I have the same problem.
@@Retronize84 me too man
I don’t wanna like ur comment as it currently has 69 likes
same and when i do the borrd just goes no where
holy crap this helped so much, I got so much crappy unexplained advice and could never do it, this video had me doing an oillie every few tries, this is literally my 5th day skating with minimal practice, thank you so much.
The way I learned was by leaning on something so I knew I wouldn’t fall to get that fear out of my head, then I used crutches so I can practice while in the middle of the street or room, then I would let the crutches go and keep trying until I got the right amount of slide and bounce
His ollie is higher than my grades😃🔫
EDIT:ty guys for 200 likes

My friend was able to teach me how to ride and Ollie for the first time in under 5 minutes
who is your friend i need lessons from them😭
You mind restocking those flight decks? I see ya boi is riding one
Also I miss your Overland Park mall location
Quick and clean. Perfect tutorial
the best explanation of an ollie ever!
When I try to move my foot to the front of the board. It makes my board flip. I tried flicking directly in the middle but I just keeps flipping.
same dude, i think it’s my foot position but idk
Flick the board with the balls of your feet in the centre of the board
Keep your body and shoulders straight and parallel with the board
I tried to do this and the board just fully swept me off my feet and I fell 💀 idk if I'll ever be able to do tricks haha. The fear of falling stops me smh
I'm picking up skating again now after 5yrs of not doing it tho, I want to do better this time
Update: I'm trying to skate every single day when and where I can to get more comfortable c:
Your more helpful than my own brother
damn-
Oof
F in the chat for your brother

Definitely the best vid I've watched because it explained WHY you are doing things (not just how to do them). Thanks!
So once you pause youtube videos, you can advance frame by frame using the [,] key. If you do so at 2:39 you can get clarity about what "everything at the same time" means. You initiate the jump and upwards motion from the board. Once you have the momentum and you legs are half way straight you do the pop-motion to take your board with you.
ive been skating for 4 years and i still cant get my board of the ground
Aaaaaayyyy don’t scare me
@@adeelaryan6810 well goodluck
@@penguinpvp4138 i'm sorry but do you try to ollie once a month or what? I understand it's quite difficult but 4 years... I was scared to even try to ollie because comments like "i skate for 6 month/1 year/4 years and still can't ollie" are all over the place and they just scare noobs like me to even try
Hope you’re joking bro
Ya’ musta not been practicing then-
Landed my first ollie! It was very sloppy, but it was an Ollie!
OOOO CONGRATS HOW GOOD ARE YOU NOW
Sooo I been practicing for 2 hours and now my shoes are completely ruined..uhhh don’t know what to tell my mom
this video helped a lot, i sort of got ollies down today. I got my skateboard yesterday. It helped a lot to record a slow motion vid on my phone to see what i was doing wrong.
Subscribed! I just landed my first Ollie on grass then moved to a crack. I’m not going for concrete yet as I’m not 100% comfortable with my board. 2 months in baby lets go!
How long it takes: 2-4 months
This guy: I don’t think you understand what I am capable of
You’re scaring me
I already have a good ollie but sometimes I come to watch tutorials just to remind myself of the time when I couldn't do it
Lol can’t wait to be in this position
@@scarlett3633 are you in this position after 5 months?
@@scarlett3633 are you in this position after 1 year?
My eyes: ok I understand
My feat: what the heck to I do
Best skate tutorial I’ve ever watched. I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am rn if it wasn’t for this
Thanks, I was having trouble getting in the air, and I started getting promising results after this video. Thank you!
Thanks so much, massive help, I just need to focus on staying on the board afterward lol
My problem is that when I flick my board doesn’t come up
Wym flick, like when you move your front foot?
Ohhh wait. Are you stomping your foot onto the ground when it’s on you tail then immediately jump? Cause if you don’t jump immediately the board won’t be able to go up cause the bottom of your foot is still there
@@bumfrog8513 no I’m jumping. Idk if I’m flicking enough tho.
literally this video got me to ollie in less than 4 minutes-
How tf- 😭😭
kucky
LUCKY GODDAMNIT
Haven’t skated since I was 8 and never figured Ollie’s out. This video and 20 min later I just landed my first one 💪🏼💪🏼 the 4 years snowboarding 30 days a year def helps
watched this video a week ago without any clue how to ollie, just landed my first one ever today thanks man
Honestly, i'm embarrassed of myself i started skating in 2017 and only did it casually then 2019 i went heavy trying to learn actual tricks and i still can't ollie after practicing several hours a day, every day for like at least this whole year. But not giving up cause thats boring.
good freaking job, you’re doing well and never give up
@@tellulla don't plan on it, 'preciate your encouragement fam.
@@oldtrain3178 keep going man
do you have it now?
I still can’t get the board off the ground 😂😭 I have all the steps but I can’t do them at once
fr i struggle with sliding my foot but I can do everything else💀
What helped me was doing a Ollie and taking my foot off halfway.I started getting my Ollies every time in 3 week with this. How long have you been practicing?
@@camcyc494
Well I started the movements months ago but probably a week and a half ago is when I started trying to actually pop the board.
Was dale wearing tactics socks?
He was rockin' the skatewarehouse x warehouseskateboards collab. Them joints are fire.
@@WadeGriffith Respectfully disagree. CCS or skateshop, only two choices 😉
@@Nomad_Skateboarding I was just further goofin' on OP's statement. I highly doubt those two have collab'd on socks haha. I agree my brethren. Local shop > CCS > Bust.
@@WadeGriffith lol 😂🙌🙌
Holy shit, thank you!!!! You just taught me in 3 minutes that none of my childhood friends had the patience to teach me.....everybody skateboarded, I roller bladed 🙄 27 now so I bought myself a skateboard and I'm going to fucking learn myself 😎 ....with the help of you
For sure sharing this with my son. I appreciate the video
dude i already know how to olie and i am already confused
Nah I’m not even gonna try I tried once and there was a hole in my face when I fell. Im sorry but no thank you to this trick.
I don’t know why I’m watching this I already learned how to Ollie
YOO THIS IS ACTUALLY GOOD TUTORIAL
Your making my life so much eazy thank you
