I think of a riot as a crowd of people running around in disarray and reacting to something because they are shocked and appalled. I can't think of a riot as something where you plan it weeks ahead of time, call your friends to get together, bring your supplies, sometimes travel quite a distance, then wait til dark so you can walk down the street burning up various items or locations. I don't know what to call what the people were doing. Didn't feel like a protest, and sure as heck not a peaceful one. Honestly, to me this sort of event just feels like somewhat organized crime, and all those participating in it should just be caught and charged with destruction of property and arson and disorderly conduct and whatever else they could be slapped with. These events aren't spur of the moment or organic or because these folks are angry about something that just happened. I think most of these are criminals and crackpots and mentally ill people who are in this little club and waiting for something to happen so they can all get together and act out. That's why most of them are organized groups like BLM, Antifa, etc. They aren't really rioters or protesters. They are a gang out trying to get attention or just committing crimes.
