I’m not super hot on the force pack. But hey, to each their own. I cannot overstate my hype for the Aces campaign boxes. I want them all. It doesn’t bother me that some deal with a region or factions I’m not overly attached to. I just love Heroes of the Aturi Cluster and seeing that developer putting in the effort into this system, with all the op force models in the box too, is a must have. Also watched their “watch it played” for the tutorial mission out of this box and man, it’s excellent.
As a Marian Hegemony fan, I'm stoked for the Cyclops. It's actually a really solid variant too. 14 hp and 4/4/0 damage for 38 points is such a bargain.
I bought all tbe Battlefield support lances from Mercenaries plus lots more in salvage packs and Mercenaries core box (arrived this week). I already have Alpha Strike 2022 core, (required for Scouring Sands) plus full rule book, and both Aplha Strike counter/terrain packs. As well as 100 plus mechs from Clan Invasion and various force packs and carx packs. This will be an instany buy.
@@Unicorn_Company Watching the Catalyst/6 sides of Gaming live stream and the role decks include role variants(jump jets), hover/wheeled and vtol decks, tracks use the standard role decks.
When they mentioned the role decks in the video showing it, they mentioned that the vehicles would each have their own decks for movement type, and only tracked would be using the standard roles decks.
@@Unicorn_Company 3:40.00 they describe the AI decks and clearly stated and showed that Hover/Wheeled share a deck and Tracks use the role decks, which have multiple role decks for roles, showing Skirmisher and Skirmisher(JMPS) cards.
I hope it helps. I know that Alpha Strike in and of itself has brought a lot of people in, I can only imagine what co-op play will do to help further the game.
I think co-op appeals to a different crowd in some respects. There’s the more traditional “I am playing against an opponent” where you need to have that competition (even if playing casually with narrative lists) to enjoy the game, and then there’s the narrative “I’m more looking for story telling or having fun with my friends” and it starts to move a little more towards the goal of “tell a good story” and less about overcoming an opponent. I enjoy both types of games, but from a progressive campaign type format, I am way more in “tell a story”. One thing i feel bad with linked mission campaigns is someone is going to be starting on the back foot. In a co-op, nobody is or everybody is. I’m also super hyped because this may be just the ticket for my boys. Right now, I play a simplified AS with them (limited keywords, all-or-nothing die rolls with a single 2d6). They grasp the mechanics of the game but not the strategy (the oldest is 10). What I’ve been doing with them is just playing at significant PV deficit to give me a challenge while trying to offer them some mistake forgiveness. I could see pulling this out and now we are having a ball against the AI telling a story.

The Catalyst sales model is all about increasing prices by giving you more but also forced exclusivity. Painted mechs I don't want. Utility vehicles included in force packs. All excuses to increase price and give you things you may or may not want.
I'm actually talking about pricing in the podcast episode this month. While I feel Catalyst has done a lot good for the game, and I like what they have done miniature wise, and understand the reason they aren't selling singles *cough* model bloat *cough* I don't think that any Mech should be locked into a box set, for example, there should be some version of every model in the AGOAC box, but there are still some chassis locked in that box, same with the Alpha Strike and Clan Invasion boxes.
At least they’re throwing something in the box, rather than just upping the price with nothing changed. I don’t love costs going up, and I really don’t like prepainted mechs. I skipped the first of those force packs and I’m skipping the second one too with the dire wolf.
