12th Performance - Dartmouth Aires - "Shout" by The Isley Brothers - Sing Off - Series 3

- This is their usual type of performances which show off their "goofy" side and i think that's their signature schtik with theatrics mixed in which makes them the type of group they're representing for most college guy groups. If they had standout performances every week, like the queen song, they could be a serious contender but i'm not sure if they can win still after this week..considering the audience has already voted a winner after tonight. Shawn: Heeeey!
Sara: Heeeey!
Ben: HEERGHEYY!!1!!
Man. Pentatonix definitely deserved the record deal, but they should have sent these guys to Broadway. That was a phenomenal theatrical performance.
Ironically, the record deal dropped PTX shortly after they won.
@@violetclover1224 Something tells me that the record label made the wrong decision looking at PTX's fame in the years since
@@violetclover1224 Bet you they slapped themselves after seeing how PTX pulled themselves up into stardom and now have consistently sold out arenas.
My favorite comment from a judge, "You worked the room...Michael, Michael,Michael . You perform like you've been doing this for 35 years and you walk around as if you were born on this very stage and we have come to your home and it's your Birthday!"
Best comment and HUGE compliment...well-deserved, too.
This was the best season.
Even this many years later... MICHAEL IS STILL TOP 4 SINGERS ON THIS ENTIRE SHOW (All seasons) AND HE ALMOST SINGLE HANDEDLY WILLED THEM TO THE DUB!!!!!
Pentatonix's reaction was the best... Kevin was like HOLYYY SHIZZ
Yeah, they seem to enjoy all their performances. I'll bet they had a hunch of the Aires possibly winning
Haha I had to laugh near the end when the crowd started clapping for them and the 2 guys are just standing there like, "Thanks, but we're not done yet"
"And you walk around as if you were born on this very stage and we have come to your home and it's your birthday or something."
LOL
I personally liked the "little bit softer/louder now" part
Yeah, they really adjusted their volume on that part!
Now, I see why Pentatonix won...their more marketable as far as the record industry, but these guys should have been sent to Broadway
a little bit louder now, A LITTLE BIT LOUDER NOW *SHHHH* *DROP* a little bit softer now *UP* A LITTLE BIT LOUDER NOW
Love that part. Oh my gosh, that was funny.
I loved this song! I love 60s songs! This group along with Vocal Point are really fun to watch! They both put their hearts and souls into every performance! I wasn't into a capella groups until I saw these two groups! Now I love it! God bless you all!
this performance cleared my skin and cleansed my whole life
I just love watching this over and over again! It brings such a smile to my face!
know what i love most about the dartmouth aires? although michael always plays the front line, they're always so happy for him when the judges praise him and they are just so strong together. thumbs up.
Just thought of this performance out of nowhere so I had to come watch it 👏🏾
They are such great performers. So Theatrical.
I forgot just how great the DAs were!
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾WoooooW!
The smile Michael gives at 1:59 is perfect. He knows exactly how much power the Aires have when they start performing, and he knows what he's about to do.
The Pentatonix are just like"THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER"
As much as I love Pentatonix I must admit that Michael's the best singer in the show, by far.
I agree... for me it's a tie-up between Michael and Scott. Their both AMAZING Michael's a beast
Caroline Seiter For me Michael is better than Scott. Scott is great but there is something about Michael. He's more expressive, I think.
They're both pretty much the same, with the same range and ability. It's just that Scott is much more technical with it, whereas with Michael he just makes you want to get up and dance.
Matt wyman Might be.
All of you guys are forgetting about Street Corner Symphony's lead.... He's in the running at least.
One of the best live performances I’ve ever seen
They would have been eliminated in the 4th round without Michael - the rest are good but that guy has star on him.
This group is fantastic but Michael is by far the king and is the reason they go this far. I don't know where they are now but I hope they are doing good things with all their talent.
I could watch this over and over again.
This is my favorite performance of these guys
Wait are they the Dartmouth Aires? Or Michael and his back-up singers?
Vocal Point was a much tighter unit but you nailed it. This was the Michael show.
One of my favorite things about this performance is how into it Pentatonix is in their little booth. Really nice seeing all these groups supporting each other.
Well! You know this makes me wanna SHOUT! Kick my heels up! SHOUT! Throw my hands up! SHOUT! Throw my head back! Come on now!
This is soooo perfect!
Clark's little spin thing at 4:24 makes me SO, SO HAPPY.
I like how Kevin gets into all the performances
Did Sean say "flarp"? As in flat/sharp?
This is entertainment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dayum! No wonder everyone but Michael collapsed! THAT WAS NUTS! I LOVE IT!
Insane. Man I got no words. Goodness.
that moment when the only thing the judges can criticize is the "flarp"
Fun as usual, but they were NOT a recording studio type group. They were a stage performing\Broadway group. As such the should never have outlasted Afro-Blue. Pentatonix still would have won, but seeing as this was about a RECORDING contract the judges really blew this decision. Not that these guys were not great, but their strength goes entirely against the point of the competition. This was the only judges decision that I had a major problem with. I did not always agree with their decisions earlier (most of the time I did though), but this one really ticked me off.
I SAW THEM PERFORM THAT YESTERDAY!!! Was soooooo awesome! :D
They said that they didn't want them to perform this theatrically, but that's what they did
Just FYI: For those not familiar with Old Dartmouth, when Dartmouth was an all male school,
before Dartmouth gave up the Indian mascot,
the group was “The Injunaires” and they did more old school glee club stuff.
Was looking for a “call and response” song and found this. Impressive.
Still. After all these damn years.
Hello? I am Lola and this is my Ghost. I died when he got a lil bit lower...LOL!
I've been smiling throughout this whole performance.
"Dartmouth Aires. Instant Party. Pour some water" yeah, so true.. Right, guys?
the Dartmouth Aires is going to be the sing off champion :)
2:12
Michael and the Darthmouth Aires are the OG ppl to hit the nae nae
One word: explosive. Absolutely explosive
Amazing Zing❤❤❤❤
They killed this!!! Sing Boy!!!
Micheal is one of the best performers since micheal Jackson and I mean it!!!! He is AMAZING
You know you're good when Ben puts you in the same sentence as the greats.
I love how Pentatonix are all bowing and have that look on their face like "we are not worthy!"
i know some people made comments about michael singing the lead too much but imo they wouldnt have made it this far without him
That was beyond amazing!!
The college groups were
amazingly great but just TOO
BIG 2 WIN 👍👌
I don't care if they didn't win. Michael's gonna be on Broadway. Accept it.
The Aires are amazing
Love this one. So fun.
That was hilarious when he took the microphone from the last judge lol
I don't need to use insults to tell my opinion : I've listened to the 3 last candidates of the Sing-Off, and sorry but YES PTX are really the best ! Everyone of them is a great artist by him(her)self, and the mix of the five of them is just magic !The other groups are very good, but not SO perfect, SO inventive, and giving SO much room to each member's talent ! And what if 5 was a better idea than 20 for an a cappella group ? More than, well... let's say 7, it becomes a choir for me.
michael is ready for a recording contract right now.
As a Buffalo bills fan this smacks super hard
i think these guy lost because Michael is there only good really featured singer. While as on the other hand each member of Pentatonix has there own individual uniqueness that you can hear through out all of their performances, and each one of them is always featured one way or another. But i will say this group is really REALLY good otherwise:)
Nah, they lost bc classic a cappella wasn't going to gain much traction.
This needs way more views
@dwind The pitch problems come from being such entertainment on stage. If you watch their audition video, you can see that when they're not dancing like crazy, they have accurate pitch.
cant believe this has been 10 years
Michael's phrasing is BOSS.
This is the new definition of "theatrical performance". They already have the 2nd place.
Anybody ever feel like it's Michael's world and we're all just visiting when he's performing?
Coming from a true Buffalo bills fan ( who’s rally song this is ) this rendition of shout tops the scene from animal house
The Aires are awesome. Sad that a lot of the key Sing Off players graduated. But for that reason, they probably couldn't market a series of records; everyone's gonna graduate eventually. Plus, they're already working on a new CD! That, combined with PTX Vol 1 will be great! Though they're probably not coming out at the same time...
sara is hilarious... i love how sean always laughs at her
god they're so entertaining to watch
You know what's great... all the judges know how to sing! unlike other shows *cough* Simon Cowell... :P
umm.. OMG That was great!!!!
Did they mess up at 4:30?
I am watching this in order. So I do not know the outcome. But since Ep 2 I have predicted Pentantonix and Dartmouth Aires were on a collision course. We all know how things turned out for Pentatonix but as for if I am right, I guess I will see a few videos down the line.
I am a Pentatonix fan all the way, but honestly this performance made me really worried for them....
Ben stood. Ben finally stood! Well deserved.
i swear...i was determined to do a full split in skinnies when i first saw this....if he can do it then i can...i can do it without skinnies now but ya know with them is a whole different story...
How can they manage to be so great at music, study in ivy league school and even be this incredibly athletic?... There must be some drug involved :P
really great
What the judges never comment on: how frikin flexible Michael and Clark are
Y didn't they win again?!
Did a cappella with Michael in high school. He hasn't changed a bit. :]
Aye aye aye!!!!
Thats Realy great
i loved it :)
I always wish they won
I want to see a duet with Michael and Christie, from Afro-Blue. .________.
Hey.. people have opinions, keep yours to yourself. He's provided us these videos!
@hushfirefly pentatonix got the first standing Ben with their 10th performance, but a second standing Ben is pretty awesome too.
where?
People commenting on the song choice, it was the judge's pick
YES!
@WiiPlayer113 I'm not sure if i agree. I think the most important thing IS quality regardless of the numbers. And Pentatonix is fantastic. The Aires are also great but they rely so much on Michael that for me it seems that if he was in this competition with 7 other people he'd still make top 3. Not saying the Aires aren't talented but I feel like they've lost a bit of what the competition is about.
why isnt this the top comment?
oh gawd I died laughing. you are too hilarious
Is there a reason almost every video I'd seen Mrduckbear post with the Sing Off, everyone's getting B's?
@fredbilly94 I agree. There really wasn't much for them to do with this song, but I still think they did a great job with the material.
Yeah this song choice was not as much a favor to DA as judges' choice were for Pentatonix and UM...
But the question abt the Aires being a group that could sell records - I think could be answered by the success of Glee which are a blend of theatrics, heart and fun and good vocals.
I think this group is underestimated but might be a darkhorse (I hope) when it comes to viewer votes.
that performance was awesome!!!
Still dunno how these guys did not win this. I personally did not care for a majority of the pentatonix performances and was surprised they kept making it through. So is the next Sing off season happening or what?
Matthew Davis are u care for ptx now?
