In the KW "incident" yes. "single ladies" was a GREAT song BUT that specific award was FAN voted so even if Beyonce had a "better" video the FANS decided who the winner was. So the way HE went about it was wrong and the point at THIS specific situation was wrong as well. Because it was not an academy who decided, it was regular people voting. Had he done it at the grammys or any other NON-FAN voted award maybe I would agree (doubtful since it was HIS opinion, just like I have MY opinion) but yeah, NOT The time, NOT the place and definetly NOT the way.
In the documentary miss Americana Taylor goes into a bit more detail on sexual assault case and talks about how even when u win you don’t feel any sense of victory at all because the process of it all (trial, being accused of lying etc) is so dehumanising. It really does take so much courage for anyone to find the strength to come forward about what’s happened to them
Beyonce was actually win that day in the same event, so yeah she deserve the award. But this one was for taylor. And Beyonce gave Taylor a chance to speak her words. I love both of tgem.
The Fallon clip was a little short so I'm not sure if you got the context of it. He spoke about his mother on that show and said that when he was younger she would squeeze his hand three times which became short hand for I love you to them. His team asked Taylor if she'd perform at late notice (this was during Reputation where she wasn't doing appearances too) and she agreed to do New Years Day. The song has a lyrics "you squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi, I can tell that it's going to be a long road. I'll be there if you're the toast of the town babe, or if you strike out and you're crawling home". It hit quite close to home as when she had finished singing they were both basically in tears and hugged.
I tell ya what, Taylor Swift has a lot of talents that we all know but one that I don’t think people notice enough is her talent for turning her trauma into art, just in general. When something bad happens to her she retreats, she regroups, and she uses the pain to redirect the conversation back to her art in a way that very few are capable of. I think Kesha is really good at the same thing.
The perfomance wehre she though she did bad was one of her best award show perfomances ive seen from her, i didnt even know what note she though she messed up until somone pointed it out
