8:19 .. The look on your face is a prime example of how this car makes people feel, and why I'm working towards owning one. Great review. Thumbs up for you.
@twostepr500 no need to apologize, you're correct in that they look alike from a glance. It's just the cheap exhausts people put on their honda civic are a half ass attempt to resemble the real deal like this HKS monster. Unless your pushing some serious power I don't believe a large diameter exhaust makes any sense outside of the loud sound / look. There are plenty of Hondas out there that make the power requiring a larger pipe for potential, just not your run of the mill near stock civic...
@MurdaINCBaller I just told my cousin who owned the supra, he said this, "It was used for drag and street use. It was fully built and had a huge stall. I needed an auto for my goals, and it shifts just as good as a manual and at the perfect point, while never missing a shift." So auto is good for some reasons, manual is just more fun.
This is one of my favorite cars of all time as well as the nsx ferrari lambo benz bmw porsche maserati aston martin ive driven em all but i still just love these japanese muscle cars from the 90's....just nothing like em...
u know that unexpected jolt u get from a horror movie scene, i got that the moment this guy slammed the hatch and followed by two more with the doors, and i went all :( .. its such a sweet supra dude show some respect..
I love chicagocarsdirect! Awesome cars. I watched like every video so far. When i get enough money some day i know who to turn to. Chris is awesome and has a great job.
The acceleration with the truck was very fast!! I wish there was a modern version Supra although it will never be as good as the old ones! Very nice car! Cheers
@twostepr500 the style of the exhaust may not be for everyone. However, that exhaust is far from cheap. It is an HKS Carbon Fiber Titanium Hiper Series exhaust close to $1k in cost. A very serious performance exhaust for import enthusiasts.
i had a neighbor in Windermere who owned one of these then he came home with a NSX he got ride of that and got a 370GT Skyline.. but out of all 3 the supra was badass just the sound from the exhaust gets your attention.. even though being from Detroit i prefer muscle cars ..... JDM cars aren't bad either i take a Subby sti or a EVO over the supra but this is still one car you have to respect..
@prod1gy3000 The VR4 traps a lot lower than the Supra does meaning the Supra has more potential to do a better 1/4 mile stock for stock then a VR4 does. The other thing is the VR4 is 3800lbs with the more weight, the same hp and torque rating and the same displacement as the Supra meaning the Supra has a better power to weight ratio.
If I could afford it, I would buy it in a second. I'm not into foreign cars, especially japanese, but I always like supras. Crazy fast RWD high speed automobile!
I don't normally like Toyotas, or Japanese cars for that matter, however, the Toyota Supra is a fine automobile and I wouldn't mind having one in my garage.
@prod1gy3000 Its not a drivers race between these cars stock for stock. The 3000GT VR4 does high 13s low 14s stock, and the same with the RX-7. The Supra is the only car out of the group you mentioned that does low 13s stock and gets the best skidpad as well at .98G
Nowadays with the automatic transmission revolution and launch control most modern cars are pretty fool proof when trying to get the best times out of them. Back when these cars were being made it took a little more skill to get them to perform which is why magazine times had so much margin. Not faulting them, they just didn't have nearly as much time in them as owners did.
I like how the reviewer says that Supras were originally intended to be taken out occasionally... but because the owner took good care of it it can be daily driven lol..... No. Actually, they WERE intended to be daily driven and that IS the reputation they have today. The Supra has a reputation of being reliable WHILE making easy power. That's why it has a cult like following.... the review was ok until he made such a foolish statement.
This was my car and it was sold by my parents without my knowledge. I’m searching for it and if you can help please let me know. I daily drove this car from 2003 until 2007 when the weather was nice.
@Pr1nc3Marth Very well said! The supra is by far my favorite car! The car is becoming more rare by the day! You rarely see them anymore. Once I first saw that car, my jaw dropped. Unbelievable cars! Toyota was way ahead of its time.
@ExtraStrongGeneral Back in 94 this was a super car, one of the fastest coupes that money could buy. A supercar isnt a supercar because it has a fancy name and a big price tag, its called a supercar because of what it can do, in which case the Supra is a supercar indeed.
If this is my buddy's old car, which I believe it is. Same year, color, right around same mileage, auto, same exhaust, couple bolt ons. It was wrecked. Has bondo.
This was my car and I’m currently searching for it. It had an HKS intake and exhaust, sparco seats and harnesses, Advan tires, Project Mu brake pads with slotted rotors in the rear (the fronts were supposed to be the next mod) HKS bov, and then the boost gauge. It was sold without my knowledge by my parents. If anyone can help me locate it I would be grateful
my favorite car ever idk if it was the fastest car in japan at the time I think it might have been the rx-7 fd or the nsx but none the less best car to ever come out of japan imo
@TheBammable agreed. a lot of the modern exotics/supercars are automatics... look at the new evolutions, lamborghinis... everything is autostick or paddle shifters, manuals could become a dying breed. no human is going to shift better than a built and tuned automatic transmission. This auto trans was ahead of its time. and to all the haters... good job you can operate a manual tranmision, I'm sure everyone is real impressed.
damn its auto im in the marked for a supra right now and i know how all the cars you sell are in great condition. It it were manual i would buy it in a heartbeat
@MaysTG13 i think 5 point harnesses should be required think of how many people have died in roll overs cause their seatbelts failed to keep them from being thrown around, it kinda blows
Never close a hatch by pushing on the spoiler! It is very easy to damage if you're not careful. Also, a 91 Cressida has a 7M engine. Too bad the JZ series wasn't out yet!
@crazyviolent69 auto supra, manual supra.... its a supra. in 96 they only made automatic supras in the USA. Still fast and sexy as hell regardless of the transmission option.
This generation Toyota Supra is re-knowned in the Rice Rocket world. I think the back looks nice, and the car looks somewhat modern for being 1993-up. I think its kinda pricey however, and still is for the Twin Turbo Model. Suped up T-Top Paul Walker Fast and Furious Style pick up my lady.
@JohnFromSpace @JohnFromSpace Just checked the website $20,990 with 128,000 miles (200,000 kilometres) Not bad figuring to find a near stock one is pretty rare. I looked at buying a rolling Supra shell they go for around $5000+
@PzownedProductions im talking about newer japanese motors. the engineering is incredible, take the 4g63 for example. 2 liter 4 cyl capable of numbers over 1000hp. i just think getting so much power out of such a small engine says something about the engineering going into these motors.
It's just all an opinion thing. With my 02' Camaro, I bought an automatic because it's my daily and I just want to get in and go. I have nothing against or for either, I'm used to the manual so I'll have my hand on the shifter or whatever it's called like I'm driving a manual just from habit. Granted both of em haul when you need them too. So, in reality I think it just depends on use and preference at the time.
They really are :/ I think by the time I can actually afford to buy one and drop money into it like I want to... It's gonna be Very hard if not impossible to find an unmolested one like this. Might just have to pick up one that was driven hard as hell and do a rebuild. That's amazing isn't it, these cars have BARELY depreciated it's crazy.
@Lilreeces10 Who told you that? you must drive a super cool 5 speed civic! The TT auto tranny spools the turbos much quicker and gets rid of the human element of shifting. Auto will always be faster, but apparently you have to have a 5 speed to be cool.
@kageryu311 Again, you can't rely on magazine times for these cars. I got my drivers license when these cars were in peak production. grew up around them, and owned a 3000. If one knows how to properly launch the VR-4, 13.4 in the quarter with half a talk and the spare tire in the back is possible. Done it myself, and seen it plenty of times. Launching is the key to all of them. If you torch 1st gear in the Toyota, you'll see 14's with high traps all day.
I'm the guy in this video and the guy who failed to keep the company afloat is trying to capitalize on my talent.
this vid makes me cry, I can't live without a supra!! I'm 17, but when I grow up, I can't live without 1, need to buy 1 as soon as possible!
HKS Carbon Titanium catback... What a nice addition.
Thank you. This was my car that my parents sold from under me in 2009. If you or anyone else can help me find my car I would really appreciate it.
8:33 What SAVAGE! Look at how fast the Supra accelerated compare to the truck at a constant speed!
Absolute Savage!!
He forgot to slam the hood
Hahahahaha hahahahaha hahahaha :D
That was actually a pretty cool joke :D
i love this car.
I did too
8:19 .. The look on your face is a prime example of how this car makes people feel, and why I'm working towards owning one. Great review. Thumbs up for you.
Sweet lord that car is gorgeous. Please get some aftermarket rims though
Thank you. This was my car and I’m searching for it. My parents sold it without my knowledge in 2009. Please let memos if you can help.
@twostepr500 no need to apologize, you're correct in that they look alike from a glance. Yes......the 1996 Twin Turbo Supras came with automatic transmissions only.......however the 6spd. manuals were brought back in the 97' Supras.
transmission shouldnt matter... its a frickin Supra. its rare as hell regardless if its N/A, twin turbo, manual or automatic... i love it.
Yea, its mind blowing! These cars are sought after like gold and silver. Performance plus reliability is hard to come by these days.
All type of Toyota Supra including 2015 Toyota Supra are my dream cars
This is one of my favorite cars of all time as well as the nsx ferrari lambo benz bmw porsche maserati aston martin ive driven em all but i still just love these japanese muscle cars from the 90's....just nothing like em...
YES! I have seen this beauty hiding amongst the others in some other videos! Thanks Chris for posting and producing this! 5*
Automatic's throttle plates don't close when it shifts gears so there's no surge unless they purposely release the gas just to hear the bov.
u know that unexpected jolt u get from a horror movie scene, i got that the moment this guy slammed the hatch and followed by two more with the doors, and i went all :( ..
its such a sweet supra dude show some respect..
these cars look just as good today as they did when new!!
I love chicagocarsdirect! Awesome cars. I watched like every video so far. When i get enough money some day i know who to turn to. Chris is awesome and has a great job.
dood u are soo lucky to have this car cuz the SUPRAS are rare man
The acceleration with the truck was very fast!! I wish there was a modern version Supra although it will never be as good as the old ones!
Very nice car!
Cheers
Beautiful car, can't wait until I own one, almost had one a few years back and lost on ebay. For sure my dream car.
@twostepr500 the style of the exhaust may not be for everyone. However, that exhaust is far from cheap. It is an HKS Carbon Fiber Titanium Hiper Series exhaust close to $1k in cost. A very serious performance exhaust for import enthusiasts.
One of Toyota's most badass cars.
i had a neighbor in Windermere who owned one of these then he came home with a NSX he got ride of that and got a 370GT Skyline.. but out of all 3 the supra was badass just the sound from the exhaust gets your attention.. even though being from Detroit i prefer muscle cars ..... @josieonetoothh
Actually, four-cylinder engines are prehistoric. The V8 came as an evolution of the I4 since people wanted more power.
Nowadays with the automatic transmission revolution and launch control most modern cars are pretty fool proof when trying to get the best times out of them. Back when these cars were being made it took a little more skill to get them to perform which is why magazine times had so much margin. How many miles were on it? It appears to have sold.
@Pr1nc3Marth Very well said! The supra is by far my favorite car! The car is becoming more rare by the day! You rarely see them anymore. Once I first saw that car, my jaw dropped. Unbelievable cars! Toyota was way ahead of its time.
this is one of the rare cars that muscle car lovers, exotic lovers and tuners can all agree on
@ExtraStrongGeneral Back in 94 this was a super car, one of the fastest coupes that money could buy. A supercar isnt a supercar because it has a fancy name and a big price tag, its called a supercar because of what it can do, in which case the Supra is a supercar indeed.
how many miles did it have cause its not on the site because im guessing you sold it
If this is my buddy's old car, which I believe it is. Same year, color, right around same mileage, auto, same exhaust, couple bolt ons. It was wrecked. Has bondo.
Its stock, just hks carbon ti exhaust and hks cold air intake, sparco seats, It's about 85% stock, rest basic mods!
@will2993 The Single turbo Supras use the 4 inch "fartcan" exhaust to allow the car to flow better. Its no different than a 4 inch exhaust on a truck.
right just sold my Supra 2 week ago and got me a 1967 mercury cougar xr7 so i think that's a win win
the most amazing vid of a supra!! It will stay my dream car till I die!!
my favorite car ever idk if it was the fastest car in japan at the time I think it might have been the rx-7 fd or the nsx but none the less best car to ever come out of japan imo
Chris is actually wrong, the Crissida has a 1jz GE, that is found in he late supra, this MKIV supra has a 2jz gte,
im going cry!!!!
Supra=amazement on wheels
@titansfan122 - I think it's because when they came out, the rich guys wanted to drive them to and from work, and sometimes they hit traffic.
damn its auto im in the marked for a supra right now and i know how all the cars you sell are in great condition. It it were manual i would buy it in a heartbeat
@Slyder1212 why? this could probably be a beast on the drag strip in just stock trim once it gets up in the high RPMs.
I think Auto is stronger on a Sup. than stick. Plus, you don't lose momentum when it shifts in a straight line.
not surprising. the high miles i mean. Toyota is known for their legendary reliability!
@MaysTG13
i think 5 point harnesses should be required
think of how many people have died in roll overs cause their seatbelts failed to keep them from being thrown around, it kinda blows
Never close a hatch by pushing on the spoiler! It is very easy to damage if you're not careful.
Also, a 91 Cressida has a 7M engine. Too bad the JZ series wasn't out yet!
Automatic or manual? Heck I wouldn't care as long as I own a supra! It is an amazing car!
I would drive the car even though it doesnt have a manual transmission. Its still a great car and I with Toyota never stopped making it.
thank you!!! i love manuals but this car is badass regardless of what transmission it has.
Might want to check if you closed the boot properly at 4:07
seems like the guy shifts the gears 'manually'. The throttle plates close and reopen when you 'manually' shift on the automatic.
Whats the point of the racing seats if its an automatic???
@crazyviolent69 auto supra, manual supra.... its a supra. in 96 they only made automatic supras in the USA. Still fast and sexy as hell regardless of the transmission option.
@ReliProductions how old are you? have you try to race an automatic in circuit?

Auto w/200,000k?
@AgtX999 he said internally almost stock not entirely almost stock
@JohnFromSpace @JohnFromSpace Just checked the website $20,990 with 128,000 miles (200,000 kilometres)
Not bad figuring to find a near stock one is pretty rare. I looked at buying a rolling Supra shell they go for around $5000+
It's also less of a hassle in general and their value is higher.
You can me decide between this, a lambo and a ferrari, and I would always choose this one
@MARooNSUPRaMK3 The later gen Cressida's mid to late 80's had the 7M, the earlier ones had the 5M.
agreed, why would you make a supra automatic?
Supras are just crazy fast cars I love supras
Is this car sold?
@kingnick022 its a automatic but he put it in D-2 which is second gear....
Was it really necessary to slam those doors?
SLAMMING THE DOORS! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH
mAKES ME CRINGE!
DONT HURT IT!
I would take care of you baby supra baby baby Awwwww
Don't hurt it
well we all have to remember most supras that were made only had turbos if they were automatic. and the manual supras were made non turbo.
@PzownedProductions im talking about newer japanese motors. the engineering is incredible, take the 4g63 for example. 2 liter 4 cyl capable of numbers over 1000hp. i just think getting so much power out of such a small engine says something about the engineering going into these motors.

does he really have a "Cobalt" Autometer boost gauge?
They really are :/ I think by the time I can actually afford to buy one and drop money into it like I want to... It's gonna be Very hard if not impossible to find an unmolested one like this. Might just have to pick up one that was driven hard as hell and do a rebuild. That's amazing isn't it, these cars have BARELY depreciated it's crazy.
I thought 4 point harnesses were illegal to drive on the highway, tho I could be wrong
Love the Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit music in the beginning :P
man its tough to find those for under 30k that's a steal
Slammed that hatch made the wiper move and everything
Where can i find reliable supras on sale?
@Lilreeces10 Who told you that? you must drive a super cool 5 speed civic! The TT auto tranny spools the turbos much quicker and gets rid of the human element of shifting. Auto will always be faster, but apparently you have to have a 5 speed to be cool.
how many miles are on it!?
dude i can't find it on your website ?!?!? there is No TOYOTA ?
How much does one of these supras cost?
@kageryu311

why they create automatic supra ?
Got the same year & color automatic as well for 25k 97,000 miles.
so is it fully stock and is it reliable?
Nop It's not fully stock...and yeah it is reliable
thank you guys yo got the integra
I'm getting one of those soon!!
@EvripidesCelicakias did he say something about manual mode? :/
He slamed the doors hard as hell
You do understand that alot of Supra the make over 1000hp are automatics... do you?
Good non bias honest review.
