The cops are not enforcing because even their relatives are doing fireworks.
It would take an entire task force for enforcement. They would need a whole force dedicated to cracking down on illegal fireworks. That means more tax payer money wasted. I dont know about you but we already get taxed to death living in Hawaii. Their is no reason go enforce. If lawmakers were smart they would legalize ariels and tax the shit out of it. Make designated places were ariels can be lit or make laws that indicate the distance ariels has to be lit so it doesnt affect peoples home, life or property.
Or selling illegal aerials too.

Aerials have always been illegal and have always lit up the night sky. You can't even play with sparklers anymore so now you have people firing off aerials to entertain their kids when a sparkler/morning glory/jumping jacks kept them busy.
Same with California because new year you can’t even buy safe and sane fireworks like on 4 of July so people have to risk it all to do illegal fireworks but this 2023 4 of July im planning to stock up safe and sane fireworks much as possible for 2023-2024 new year so I can do it once for all because I never do fireworks for New Years either I can’t do it or don’t want to risk it.

Same here in California like those stands run by non profit where they sell safe and sane if California allow aerial stuff and educate people too and those people who run the stands would be making good money for funds they from. Right now those legal ones are expensive asf and people aren’t excited to buy them anymore.

It is a tradition. Thats why we have state police and firefighters
When we didn't have permits to just pop firecrackers and we could have fountains and sparklers most of the Islanders was happy with this and there was very little aero firework. But ever since the got rid of the fountains and sparklers and have to get a permit to only get 5000 firecrackers plus the store jack up the price of firecrackers and not bringing in enough supply to drive the cost high people will go on the black market and buy it illegally instead of hassling get a permit. I think the aero firework and bombs from the black market will reduce. If they allow firecrackers, fountains and sparklers to come back without permit because people will go for the cheaper route and buy it from the stores than going to the black market to buy expensive aero fireworks.
You do know in my opinion, if you legalize consumer fireworks. Tax as much as you wanna tax, y’all will have funds to finish projects y’all guys are doing around the island that you people of Hawaii wanted but can’t afford to finish..

Just make everyone take pyro classes which you gotta pay $150 -$200 to get. Then everyone will be certified which will make it more save with aerials. Just make a higher tax when purchasing fireworks which to me seems fair to have a safer New Year’s Eve. Let the people vote on legalizing fireworks. Politicians took away fireworks this is when all the aerial fireworks started to come into the state.
The politicians created the problem by banning fireworks, locals was content with firecrackers but politicians took that away and then all the aerials started to flood the state.
Just legalize what the people want, tax fireworks like Marijuana and tobacco the state would get lots of money to fund the stupid rail and the stores would make money also so much revenue to be had here.
