Even tho I know it's a placeholder, replacing the generic bird sounds with the sounds of an actual train would have made the footage much more immersive, maybe for the next one. Keep it up! 😎
Maybe add an creative menu fpr the players after they finish the game so the can make their own train tracks and stuff, loving the game btw, keep it up!
You are making great progress. Keep going man. :) As we released our first game recently I know there is a lot of things ahead of you but you can do it. :) - Dan
Game looks so much better since the last vid, I think a indicator of the trains location when it’s of screen and or when you’ve traveled by foot away from it so you don’t get lost, or maybe a campus along the top of the screen.
@@Vav97maybe do add a map. just not a normal one. maybe add a map that is on the wall of the train. and when reaching new train stations, the "character" draws a map. this might also help the player feel more immersed in the gameplay. and truly make the game exciting to explore! you could also add key places, like a shack where you find the gun. or old laboratory's that take place in the story. also, it will get annoying having to guess where to go.
I recommend changing the bird sounds for howling wolfs or something, if you dont want to make a cozy game. The music/sounds currently make it feel like a walk through the park instead of a threatening, strange environment
I know the project just started, but wouldn't be it about the time to add some sounds? Like train on the railways and some blizzard, fuel loading. Sounds aren't too difficult to add, but it would make so much difference, because hearing the bird noises in the snow like right now feels really off. The game, however, looks absolutely stunning! :)
I can't agree with you more, sound effects are very important. I haven't added them so far becase I wanted to have a solid sound system design, so that it will be scalable. I'm almost done with it, so I think we will have sounds and the effects for the next devlog :) P.S. Thanks a lot, happy to hear you like the game :)
I've watched this VERY quickly, so maybe I didn't properly understand how you did things here. But I think it would be better if the day/night system wasn't "trigger related". What I mean is, it feels pretty weird for the time to be rushing to night as you enter a new zone, maybe you could make a system where the time is related to the position of the train. So you would place points on the rails, for example, one in the middle of the "night zone", one in the middle of the "day zone" and one at the intersection. Then the time would be extrapolated from the train position and the 2 nearest points, this way you will be able to feel that you're getting close to a new zone, and if the zones are big enough the sun/moon shouldn't be moving too fast
yeah, basically all this changes were just representations of different day times and weathers, of course in the gameplay the player will barely notice when the daytime starts to change, as it will be more gradual and long. The thing is that I want the player to be in specific places during a specific daytime and weather, to fully experience what I intended for the player to experience. I hope I managed to explain :D On the other hand there is the long dark, where the time always passes, and it doesn't matter when you will trigger a certain mission. Mine is a combination of survival-exploration genre.
I was fascinated by your game from the first episode but the one thing that was missing for me was the tutorial on how to make the train move on the tracks, also how did you make the player being able to move inside the moving train? For me this is always buggy :/ Please continue these videos live them :)
1:08 I hope that there will be an option to turn these off. Anything that filters mouse movement like that in games is a huge negative for me. Otherwise, it looks like the game is coming along nicely.
Love the new day night cycle! The new weather looks so much better! Only one note: I feel like the moon does not match up with the rest of the low poly style. I know the moon was just a part of the skybox but maybe you can find a way to remove the moon and replace it with a lower poly one to fit the style? Other than that, no notes, it's perfect.
A very very ambitious project I just love it!. I always wanted a game like this and I even enjoyed metro exodus. If you want someone for guns and fp animations Id love to volunteer!
Thanks! I also love realistic graphics, but they are very time consuming for solo developer to make, and also a lot more costly. The most important thing for me is being able to put the player into this lonely/dark atmosphere the visual realism is secondary.
Can you also make some devlogs in between which focus on the coding part and struggle through it? Also maybe struggle in creative design or any other difficult part.
I’d love to share more, tho most skip that parts, that’s why I’m not explaining everything in detail. If you have any specific questions, you can ask them in our dicord server :)
I recommend bigger trees so it fits the exploring vibe more but the game looks way better then last dev log!
Yep, these are just temporary models so that the scene is not empty
yeah also adding fog will be great
@@Uzabi fog is already added :)
was about to say the same thing :) also this is really cool
Bro please make your video longer, they are just really good but sad to see that they are short.😢

Indeed it would! Just working on the sound yet :)
I love where the new lightning system is heading ❤
Glad to hear that! Thanks
Great log!! Happy to see how quick it's progressing! Best of luck!
Thanks! happy to hear that! new devlog is coming soon :)
Ridiculous how important lighting is in video games. This looks so much better than before!
indeed it's very imporant. Thanks!

Thanks Dan! Indeed, lot of things yet to handle that I’m nor aware of.

That’s the thing I’m thinking of how to solve, as probably there will be no map in game, but the player as you said must know where is the train

I’ve never heard of ur channel but I’m looking forward to seeing more! I would add bigger trees just my opinion. KEEP IT UP IT LOOK SSO COOL!
Thanks a lot! Veey happy to hear you like the videos :) yes, trees are temporary yet, we’re going to have taller trees
I love to watch these Devlogs!
Thanks ❤️ sorry for the timing 😉

Finally got around to watching your video! It all looks amazing!
Thanks man!
Keep up with the consistency, love seeing how it is coming together🙌🏻
Thank you! Will do!
now that i think about it, i think it would look really good with some extreme toon shading
This project is progressing choo-per fast! 😉

Can you say which guns will you add?
I would like to live here 😍😍
very epic
Epic
Hay i think it well be a good idea to make the atmosphere creepy or oamenes i think it would work very well with the stroy line
That could also work in some places. My main goal for now is to creat a kinda sad/lost atmosphere. Thanks for the suggestion!
@Vav97 I see what you mean but being on edge while driving the train at night would be cool
Can you also make some devlogs in between which focus on the coding part and struggle through it? Also maybe struggle in creative design or any other difficult part.
the night in the game look like my countryside in my country:0 ( its just road with no light and a lot lot of trees)
1:48 i hope theres plans for an endless mode like The Long Drive?
I would be interested in seeing some of your code and systems in more depth. 🎉

i want more
Damn 12 hours is a long time ngl
An hour left 😉
@Vav97 sorry I was sleeping I missed it
Are you going to improve the graphics in later development
Yes, almost everything now are temporary models
@@Vav97 Cool, always wanted a game like this
I know maybe its a bit soon to ask this but......where is the steam page?
as you said it's a bit soon :) I want to have more visuals created so I have something interesting to show on the steam page
what will happen if the player leaves a location before finding everything they need like a key in the abandoned train station?
There will be things blocking the train from going forward in the train stations before player does what’s required by the quest
make so when you drag the item out of the UI bound it drops
yes! gonna do that
:D
Im curious who dose the art my guess is ai
Oh also SHOTGUN
You mean the 3d models ?
SHOTGUN
There models i thought it was art
