  • If you are having trouble importing audio files into Rough Animator, this video will show you the tricks I use to make the waveforms show up. I also go over importing three different audio file types, including AIFF, MP3, and WAV, on today's episode of the Expat Animator!

Hey! I just purchased RoughAnimator for Windows and followed the instructions of this video, but the audio still doesn't play or even appear in the timeline, no matter how much I extend it. I have tried different mp3s and wavs, but none of them show up. The only thing that changes when I click on the "import audio" button is that it will display the audio file's name with the extension .wav in the project title, even if it was an mp3. I'd greatly appreciate any form of help!
    Thank you for your time.

Hmmm. I have never used Rough Animator on a Windows machine and I don't have one to test it out with either. If I were you I would keep trying and see if you can get it to work. Or try contacting the developer and see what he says. It may be a bug. I just wouldn't know being a Mac user. For what it's worth I can get Rough Animator to import audio on my iPad also. Good luck and let me know if you figure it out!

Good app but can't add more than one audio clip and can't move the audio on the timeline , so i hope the team fix that !

More than one audio clip I can live without, but moving the audio on the timeline would be nice for sure. Thanks for the comment.

Hi! This video is really good for Mac & windows users! I use an iPad though-do you know how to add audio using iPad? Thanks!

Hi LimeLight. Yes, I do know how to add audio into Rough Animator on the iPad. I am working on a video about it right now and should have it up in a few days. I'll post a link here when it is done. Thank you for the idea!

Hello I have a problem when I'm doing my animation, the audio is fine and all but somehow when I try to test the animation and sync with the audio, the audio somehow stop on 22 second even though the audio file is like 36 second and it keeps on loop and not continue on 22 sec. Can you help?

I realized the audio file look like this ◻️◻️◻️◻️◻️◻️◻️◻️◼️◼️◼️◼️◼️
      20 22 24

You probably need to add more frames to the end of the animation. Try adding 14 seconds more to the background layer. That should help.

@@ExpatAnimator I did try that but it didn't work and the sound still cut off. After some time I already figure out how to deal with it. Basically you just change the framerate so the audio will entirely fit into your animation. I just change it from 24.0 to 18.3 and it worked!

OK good! Just remember that 18.3 is not a normal frame rate. For practicing animation 12, 24, or 30 fps are usually the best. But it depends on your final output.
