Thanks for the insight. When I was doing my Maths degree (2013-2016), we were only taught how to use Maple and Matlab through coursework and problem sheets, but we didn't learn any 'proper' coding language such as Python. However, I did learn a bit of C++ for my master degree, but it was taught in a very boring and uninspiring way, and of course we used Latex for the final dissertation. So I'm glad that things have changed quite a bit since then, as coding and programming skills are becoming more crucial for the future generations. I know some secondary schools in China started teaching their students how to programme, which is kinda neat.

Hi Ellie! since you said you first got to learn coding after uni started, may I ask how did you learn so much about coding without having studied CS before? Did you solely learn from the taken modules offered by Leeds or you did some extra learning from other resources?

Hey! Of course! After I took the computational maths module at leeds, I realised I had a huge interest in coding so I spent a lot of my time watching youtube videos and making projects that I could learn from! UA-cam has been the best resource for me because it's free and there are a few tech channels out there! I would say that you don't need to go that extra mile and learn more but if you're interested then definitely go for it! It does help if you do a dissertation with coding but there were people in my project group who hadn't coded since that comp maths module! I then took a Web Development course with Code First Girls in the summer alongside my internship and that was cool and free! I would definitely say youtube is the best resource though because you can go at your own pace and learn so many different languages!!
Edit: forgot to mention my internship was solely coding in python!! So that helped my coding ability 😁

@@EllieSleightholm Thank you sooo much Ellie!! Maybe you would consider making a new video regarding the process of how you learned coding from scratch, talking about your own journey and tips for coding if possible! As I believe many people would love to watch it! ( just my suggestion LOL😂)
