The zero-g movement is a carry-over from Dead Space 2 & 3’s, which is a huge far-cry from the original’s point-jump system of aiming and hoping you don’t jump into a piece of machinery that instantly kills you

That’s what I heard. It’s great they improved it, but I still thought it was a bit tedious. Would you recommend 2 and 3?

@@scopecreep_ Dead Space 2 is really good, Dead Space 3 is kinda iffy on its setup, but it’s lore is vitally important, I’ve played through it like 4 times just because I find it fun; Dead Space Remake sets up a lot of stuff that’s brought up in 2 & 3 far earlier than originally shown in the series, so now playing the remake you’d go “oh, holy shit *that’s* what that means?”. I’d also actually recommend the movies, they’re pretty good

Yeah keeping all the weapons in your inventory is a well known no no in dead space

Yeah that was one of the aspects that made my first play through worse than the next few runs. I actually found my plasma cutter only run on impossible easier than my first run on account of how bad it screwed the ammo up lol.

I had a hard time with chapters 5-9 simply because of the slog of, "That didn't help, go here now instead." I powered through but it was getting... tedious.

Yeah I agree the middle was definitely the least interesting. Did you play the game more than once?

@@scopecreep_ Nope! Just beat it on Saturday for the first time, I plan to play it again on New Game+ eventually and actually do the side quests. I decided to go straight through the main storyline for my first time. I have a hard time breaking from the main story unless it feels like it makes sense. *SPOILERS AHEAD*
By the time I was thinking about investigating Nicole's hologram, for example, I had already discovered she was "alive". And then when I was thinking of trying to find all the RIGs, the Ishimura was falling apart and story-wise Isaac's only motive was to escape the ship, so that was mine as well. It felt wrong to break from what felt realistic to the story and just go search for RIGs while the ship is having catastrophic failure lol.
I was able to do side quests in God of War: Ragnarok on my first playthrough, and then wrap up loose ends at the end such as collectibles. Got a Platinum trophy start-to-finish on one save.
Anyways. Loved the Dead Space Remake despite its challenges. I think I want to stick with a plasma-cutter/Ripper only playthrough on my next go-round. I find it increases the risk factor and keeps the tension lasting longer the less confident I feel with my weaponry.

@@kitsapdrummer I had an easier time with my plasma cutter only run just because of the ammo. I found it was stronger to give a fully upgraded gun 100% of my ammo than dividing it between even two or three guns. And yeah Ragnarok has an excellent plat

@@scopecreep_ I love that. It was challenging getting ammo for the flamethrower when I needed it for the plasma cutter or line gun, so maybe it won't feel as tense using the plasma cutter all game? lol

I would have given this game an 8 or 9 if I had reviewed it after 100% completion. There were some frustrations I had with it on first play through and those were reflected in my score, but this was my first review and I won't make the mistake of reviewing something after 1 play through again.
